A new fictionfolk symbol and flag
[PT: A new fictionfolk symbol and flag /End PT]
I wasn't really enjoying any of the current fictionfolk/fictionkind symbols out there, and definitely not the flags, so I did a little something. I designed the symbol, but the infinity idea came from @dave-strider-is-my-bf.
Each infinity symbol has two "pockets:" one can represent fiction, while one can represent reality. The "gaps" in the opaque infinity symbol represent that for some fictionfolk, there is no difference: the fully closed half-heart shape formed on each side by the opaque and transparent symbols intersecting represent those who can differentiate. The dots within each pocket are meant to look like eyes, as reality is in the eye of the beholder and varies from person to person. The differences in opacity show that some fictionfolk are fully intertwined with our identities and others may be more distant from it, intentionally or otherwise.
As for the flag, each stripe represents a different kind of fictionfolk. Purple (found in most psychosis flags I could find) represents fictionhood induced by psychosis, red (as purple represents psychosis, red is "shifted" from it: they are similar in that they are both types of neurodiversity) represents fictionhood induced by systemhood, the green (natural) represents fictionhood inherent to oneself, and the periwinkle (a very versatile color: can feel cold and unwelcoming or neutral and calm depending on what it is paired with) represents other types of fictionhood. The yellow and orange, like the opaque and transparent aspects of the symbol, represent those who are inseparable from their fictionhood and those who are not and our unity.
Each of the above flags can be used for the groups associated with each color!
And here, a Vriska flag (I don't like using flags that don't include my caste color) and a blank flag so you can do the same with your identity if you'd like!
(I would appreciate if somone could do an image id for me because the symbol I made is REALLY hard for me to describe.)
==> Post Homestuck Fictionfolk Flag
Yesterday in a random Homestuck fictionkin server, we, the Rainbow Soulswarm, with the help of Jade @gardens-gnostics and some feedback from our Homestuck Fictionfolk Terms and Symbols Survey, have created a Homestuck fictionfolk flag! Shout out to the submitter Br00klyn and an anonymous submitter whose suggestions made it into the flag.
Jade made the flag base, based on the flag created by now deactivated Tumblr user 8luelight (link to an archive of the original flag and fictionfolk infinity symbol's creation).
Symbol Meanings:
The blue forward arrow is a reference to Homestuck and the forward progression of the community. The other symbol is the fictionfolk infinity symbol in Sburb lime. Together, they represent all Homestuck fictionfolk.
Jade and I talked and think that using ==> 🍀 as a shorthand for being Homestuck fictionfolk could be cool. It's something my system is going to start doing for sure.
Color Meanings:
The top stripe is the green of cherubs' skin. This represents the plural spectrum.
The second stripe (and the fictionfolk infinity symbol!) is the lime of Sburb's logo. These represent community.
The grey stripe is the grey of trolls' skin. This represents embracing diverse fictionfolk experiences.
The yellow, orange, and red stripes are pulled from Pesterchum, but can also be interpreted as trolls' horns. This represents the broad scope of alterhumanity, both human and non-human.
This form is made to collect information about what symbols the Homestuck fictionfolk community use.
A short survey for Homestuck fictionfolk (fictives, fictionkin, fictionhearted, fictionhome, questioning, etc.) related to terms and symbols used for the community.
If you come up with another idea later, you can submit to this form again.
Make sure you are including a means to credit you if you want to be credited and are not only saying that you want to be credited without including a way.

So, based on these results, I'd reckon it's fair to say many Homestuck fictionfolk have a positive connection to their fictomere's classpect. That's actually really, really cool!
I realize I mistyped moderate negative as moderate positive, but no one mentioned being confused, so I figure it's okay.
The breakdown of votes is as follows (accounting for the person who misclicked!):
Strong Positive - 17 people
Moderate Positive - 12 people
Slight Positive - 5 people
None/Neutral - 3 people
Slight Negative - 1 person
Moderate Negative - 2 people
Strong Negative - 0 people
My Homestuck fictomere doesn't have a classpect - 2 people

Hey there! Are you a Homestuck based fictionkin, fictive, fictionhearted, fictionhome, or other fictionfolk? Do you have a website where you can edit the HTML? If you answered yes to both of these questions, you should join the Homestuck Fictionfolk Webring!

Small update for people waiting for more. I am in fact working on going through the qualitative data very slowly. I'm still on track to have it finished before the end of summer.
Reading through the datathat has been put out has been interesting :3
i cant wait for the rest to be compiled and for us to get more, thank you so much for this !!
You’re welcome! I’m glad people are enjoying it. If there’s anything you’re curious about, feel free to let me know and I’ll run the data if it’s within the scope of the survey I used (as in, I wouldn’t have data for country of origin because I didn’t include that in my survey, but I do have data on race and ethnicity).
Yessssss!!!! Data!
And just you wait, there will be more coming eventually when I finish going through the qualitative data. Then we’ll have more information on the themes found in how people who use quadrants define them.
My current plan is to have this part done by the end of summer.
