Crowley has a witty retort on the tip of his once-forked tongue about the ridiculousness of an angel lecturing a demon on sin when Aziraphale suddenly takes a step closer, “Some say it comes before the Fall.”

Henry Tilney stoked the dimming embers of the fireplace in the drawing room at Northanger Abbey, watching the coals spit onto the hearth and the light flicker over the furniture.

He had been staring at the slightly fraying hem of the chair opposite his own for what must have been a significant part of the afternoon at this point. He was now questioning whether it had always been torn a tad at the seams or if he had worn the fabric away with the sheer intensity of his gaze.

This would do him no good. Henry hauled himself up and walked over to the corner of the room, where he poured himself a generous measure of brandy from the decanter. He took a large, steadying swig from his glass before sitting back down stiffly in his chair and picking back up the letter he had been gripping fiercely ever since he had accidentally sliced open the seal.

It was a peculiar thing really. The intimacy of letters. A person baring their soul to another through drops of ink on a page. Strangers delivering loaded missives back and forth to different families, different houses, different counties every day. Not knowing the potentially explosive power of those scratches of quill on parchment...

Darcy: basically tells his girl that he's too good for her while proposing

Bingley: ghosts his true love for several months because his friend and sisters told him to

Knightley: scolds and argues with his girl constantly

Wentworth: revenge flirts with a random girl because he's too dumb to see that he still loves his first girl

Edward: flirts with his girl when he's already engaged to another girl

Brandon: falls in love at first sight and proceeds to basically never talk to his girl, just her sister

Edmund: thinks he loves a girl who is all wrong for him just because she's hot, while ignoring the much better girl right under his nose
