on the crown prince and gender --
when noctis was born, he was declared the crown princess noctis lucis caelum cxiv. there was a sense of wrongness early on in this for noctis, in his body, in the way people spoke of him, called him princess and a lady. it all fit him the way his dresses did, too tight in all the wrong places. it didn’t take very long at all for all these behaviors and complaints to reach regis’ ears, and it took less time after that for the king to find noctis a specialist who came to the citadel and put all the pieces of the puzzle together for them.
by the age of six, noctis was called the crown prince. being royalty had it’s perks -- those who might say unkind things would not dare say them to the prince’s face, nor would they dare to defy the quiet orders to treat noctis as the prince he was. quietly, the media learned to adjust to having a prince instead of a princess, and if anyone ever had any problems, noctis never realized at all.
at eleven, he was given puberty blockers, and at fourteen, he started hormone therapy, and because he received treatment early on, he did not need top surgery. at this point, most people forget that there was ever any mentions of a princess at all. it’s considered common knowledge, but at the same time, who would ever look at noctis and think of him as anything but a prince ?
