jesse almost laughed but it ended up in a hiccup before the sound could fully make it's way out of his lips. "wasn't planin' to give it back, doubt you'd enjoy it as much if i tried." that time he did manage a laugh, pleased with the joke. he let the bottle roll away from his hands towards jack, it wasn't completely empty, just mostly.

"ain't like you was usin' it at the moment." because jack wasn't here but that wasn't important. what had mattered was that jesse was lonely and bored and there had been a bottle of whiskey in his reach. he didn't even particularly care for whiskey, he just wanted something to do. "where'd you fuckin' go anyway?"

jesse doesn't even wait for the other to finish his words, he's already off and running through the long grass. this is what he lives for, the freedom of the air and the world around him that comes from no one trying to put him into a dress or make him be a nice girl. he's always been better when he's rough and tumble, always felt easier too. so he runs until his lungs are burning and then he runs some more, looking back only once he's reached his limit.
