"You sir," she pauses for a moment to create a dramatic effect, the playfulness easily heard within her voice, "have been chosen."
An irritated sigh escapes his lips as he fully turns to face the girl, hand resting lightly on his leather messenger bag at his hip.
"Unless it's an all you can eat buffet, I'm not interested."
"What’s it to ya if I am?"
She shot her webing upwards to the bridge they were standing under, climbing up the sticky fibers so that she was dangling upside-down— she was more comfortable this way, and it made a quick getaway a lot easier.
Now that was interesting, to say the least. He tilts his head slightly upwards, thankful for his height at least, brown eyes trying to catch a glimpse at the face under the white hood. No luck.
"Uh...nothing I guess. Would you put a bullet through me if I told you I was burying a dead body?"
Foot to mouth. Maybe this wasn't the best time to be a cheeky ass.
She knew he wasn’t burying a death body, or at least she assumed he wasn’t, Tracy may have been reckless but she didn’t have a death wish.
"I mean, how many people a day do you see walking around with shovels? Be honest.”
The petite blonde offers the brunet her winning smile, her eyes finally shifting from the shovel to him.
”Damn, and here I was preparing an alibi for you. Seriously though, what’s with the shovel?”
"More than you think."
He jokes as she whirls the shovel down off his shoulder so that the point is now digging into the ground by his foot.
"Shovels are incredibly useful if you think outside the box."
Of course he's just spewing bullshit --clever bullshit-- but bullshit nonetheless. His smile turns more for the charming side, as fingers tap along the hand of his spade and he cocks his head to one side slightly.
"I was just satisfying a little curiosity I had."
Head lolled to rest on his hand as Xidorn idly scrolled down the blog page looking for anything out of the ordinary. His pockets were quickly running out of the last few bills, and he needed to find another story fast unless he wanted to starve. Though he felt like he already was, stomach growling in testimony.
"Sir."
And head turns to where the voice is coming from, hazel orbs fixing on the girl.
"Can I help you?"
"Are you following me?"
Innocent enough question as he turns abruptly on his heel to face the other.
"If you're selling something, I don't have any cash to spare, sorry."

"Whoa, hey, buddy, where do you think you’re going?”
Spider girl jumped down from her perch with ease, her white hood making her identity, her voice almost completely unrecognizable.
"What’s the deal with the s h o v e l?”
He would say home, but he doesn't exactly have a home to go to, unless the corner of some partially sheltered alleyway counted. Xidorn doesn't think it does. He gives the figure in front of him a once over, before settling into an 'at ease' posture, hand still balancing he shovel on his shoulder.
"What are you? Some vigilante?"
If she is, would make a real interesting article right there.
"What’s with the shovel?" Any normal person would’ve gotten far from there if they saw a stranger walking around with a shovel, but then again, what could one expect from a Stark? ”If you were burying a dead body then I didn’t see anything.”
An elusive smile curves his mouth upwards and he raises a brow in mock skepticism.
"Why is it everyone automatically assumes the worse?"
Granted, he probably doesn't look the most put together, at the moment, shovel and all. But he offers the girl a flash of a smile before shaking his head.
"But sadly no. I don't need any alibis, I'm afraid."

Diligence. That's what got good stories done. Ones that got sold out to the tabloids and spread like wildfire. That would also explain why he's walking with a shovel over her shoulder --dark dirt still staining the tip, and no he wasn't uncovering a body.
Upon seeing the state of the stranger, Estella wasted no time getting to his side and bringing him over to a chair where he could rest. She needed to assess the damage. Her eyes silently flickered between the 'bandage' she started removing and his face to study his expressions. How bad was the pain? "What happened?"
Maybe he's still in partial shock, adrenaline pumping through his veins, numbing the pain and making his heart race. One minute he's stumbling through the door of a shop, and the next he finds himself sitting, a woman peeling his hands away from the wound.
"Stabbed?"
It comes out as more of a question.
"Sliced? There was a knife...I think."
Shock shortens his sentences into choppy phrases, spat uncertainly out into the air.
Xidorn doesn't mean to fall asleep --eyelids drifting closed over dark, wary orbs. He hadn't slept well last night --clothes still damp in the torrential downpour that had hit while he was attempted to sleep. One hand still rests on his computer keyboard, long fingers sprawling from the 'w' to 'm' keys.

The chime on her door caught Estella’s attention. It was late. She was never open late. Business’s were normally closed when night fell, so she simply followed suit. Peering around the corner of a dividing wall, her eyes met the stranger’s.
"I have a sign on the door that says ‘closed’. Did you not see it?”
He's been hurt. That's the simplest way to put it, as he clutches the makeshift bandage ripped from the bottom of his t-shirt around his upper arm, a dark stain already soaking through the fabric --and damn, this was a really nice shirt too. Journalism is a dangerous profession, but it's even more dangerous when you don't have any healthcare to combat those hospital charges.
"S-sorry."
He's cold too. He'll have to go look for his coat later.
"I just need...need." What did he need?
