âI would say promising. Â I just want you to stay out of my way.â
â for the record you are the one getting in my way. shouldnât you listen to your own words, no? â
She shook her head, âNo, no. Heâs just working today and asked me to bring them.â
â glad to hear. i havenât heard from the old man lately.. â trys had a habit of dropping by his store just to listen to the man talk, finding that wisdom truly did come with old age. he had made a few acquaintances from the other adult shopkeepers in the village as well. â how is he? â
âNo, unfortunately.â She pursed her lips together before a grinned graced them, âThank you. I hope so too.â
â iâd put in a good word for an old study partner. â he smiled faintly.Â
âItâs fine.â She said waving it off, âTo each their own is right. i just wish more people could be happier in what they do.â
â itâs a luxury not everyone can afford, isnât it? â trys nodded before shoving both his hands in his pockets. â but i do hope you get the muggle relations spot, lily evans. the ministry could use a bloody brilliant mind here. â
âNo, not interrupting. I was on my way out from dropping off some paper work for my Dad.â She said smiling small towards the other.
â is something the matter with mister fortescue? â he tried not to sound as if he intended to pry, yet his immense curiosity took over.
Following him along, Mary just looked around, enjoying the sight of her workplace. At his words, the girl turned to look at Trystan with a small smile. âAnything for Fabs.â She answered with a nod. There was nothing she wouldnât do if it involved the other. âI will. Heâll enjoy hearing that.â
â that would be really kind of you. â he replied with a curt nod. â now that weâre onto the matter, kick him in the leg for me, yeah? itâs nothing hostile â itâs more of a friendly greeting, rather. â trys lied, though itâd be amusing to hear from fabian the next time they bump into each other.
âIt does sound awfully familiar, but you know, right now weâre actually doing what we wanted to do at Hogwarts, at least I am? I always wanted to be out there and do what I thought was best and have the training to get to do that is amazing.â Fabian smiled, he never asked or even wondered where Trystan was heading the Order or the other side. Because he simply didnât care at that point. Trystan was one of his best friends and he didnât care whether his friend was on the opposite side, and he probably wouldnât until he didnât have another choice. âYou should work on those skills, mate, not that Iâm so good at them, but I try to be.â He laughed and shook his head, âIâm good, workâs amazing. iâm being send on my first mission soon, so Iâm excited yet anxious.â He smiled wide, âI.. yes we are just best friends, we have been that way since we were little, so I doubt itâs ever going to change mate.â
trys was genuinely happy for fabian. â â good to know at least one of us is living the life. be happy for me, mate. â if it all boiled down to what he truly wanted to do for the rest of his life, trystan would very much like to give a professional quidditch team a try. it didnât matter what team; he just wanted to spend at least more of his time on the field and away from all the chaos that this war brewed. unfortunately, it wasnât as if he could afford to say something about the matter. â first mission, eh? donât break a leg, or something, yeah? literally. â he could only muster a small smile. the chances of them crossing paths in one of their missions was high now, especially that fabian was beginning to be more frequently active in them. â why not? sheâs a kind lass, lovely, too. â
âI donât think so.â She glanced at him before letting out a breath. Lily pursed her lips together, âI guess that I have petty standards then. I refuse to be included in the lot of people.â
trys only smiled at her words. â i do not intend to demean you at any cost, i just have a habit of pointing out things inside my head which i shouldnât.. but you know what they say, to each their own.â
With a nod, she took the papers, âRight. I had to have these filled out weeks ago, Iâll get them back soon.â
â that would be ideal, thank you. â he nodded. â i do hope iâm not interrupting your ministry visit, are there any other matters you are attending to today? â trys deemed it only courteous to ask.
âHappiness in it.â Lily replied. âThereâs no point in working in a job that make a lot of money if youâre not happy doing it.â
â that would be a bit irrational, donât you think? â trys didnât want to argue, but times like these when he raises his point he usually ends up engaging in one. â happiness would be a very... petty standard. there are a lot of people who arenât happy with their jobs yet theyâd rather continue doing it than finding another one to fit their cup of tea. â
With a sigh, Alice held out her hand waiting for the papers, âFine. What is it about?â
â only a form for those who are attending the academy, it wonât bite. â he added with a shrug before handing over the documents.
Hestia ran a hand through her hair and looked over at him, she knew he would know her cousin, 9 out of 10 people did, especially within the quidditch world. âA pleasure it certainly is.â She replied offering her hand. âWould you like a drink?â
he shook her hand with a civil smile plastered upon his usually stoic features. â alcohol would really be in order. whiskey? "
That wasnât something she wanted to talk about, she didnât want into trouble at work, not when she was enjoying it so much. Her work was her favourite thing she had right now and she wouldnât lose it over quenching curiosity. âThat sounds lovely, thank you.â
trys nodded curtly before leading the walk to the ministry exit. â will you pass on a message for fabian on my behalf?" he just learned recently from his old friend he lived with mary. " i wish him well. â
âThatâs a plus.â She smiled lightly, âBut not the most important.â She shrugged.
â what is, then? â this time, trys found himself curious. the bloke was guilty of wanting to hear about other peopleâs thoughts more often than heâd ever admit. â what is it that makes a job worthwhile in your opinion? â
âIâm not much in the mood. Can we talk about this later?â
â iâm afraid that wonât do, miss fortescue. this is a matter of urgencyâ and you are one of the advised to fill up this form by the ministry as soon as possible. â
