This button pulls triple duty as a menu affordance, close button, and pagination indicator. A smooth vertical slide and clear color change pulls it all together.

In the wake of Facebook’s purchase of Oculus, can this revolutionary technology triumph anew?
It is pretty easy for most people to spot when technology has been crowbarred into a solution because it's 'cool'. The consumer experience is pivotal, and whether or not it is truly served by the technology, whether the solution genuinely fits the problem, is key.
...
We must concern ourselves with delivering the content, applications and solutions that can truly make this medium indispensable, and solve problems in a uniquely seamless and sophisticated way, as though only VR could ever really have been the natural solution to the problem.
Over the years, traditional menu design has developed along the lines made possible by hardware. Here's what we've learned building menus for Leap Motion.
Intro to Leap Motion
Ticketing App
Nice reference for a transportation ticketing system app. There's a lot going on and the animation sequence happens kind of fast, so understanding what is happening is a little difficult. I wish they paused on the different states before animating the next sequence.
Loading Sequence
Loving the incorporation of illustration in the loading sequence for this app. A nice departure from loading balls and spinning wheels. Allows more of a brand expression to come through in the design.
Menu Transitions
Smooth transition from a closed menu state to an open menu state.
Nice fast motion. Transitions are snappy have a great sense of direction and velocity. Some of them could probably be tightened up a bit: on the left slides when setting up a new card (@~00:08) the content probably doesn't need to slide from 100% right to center. Instead, just fade in and slide from closer to center.
My favorite is the grid of cards bubbling up (@~00:15)
The quickness of this animation is really pretty spot on. Super. Fucking. Snappy.
With some fun (and subtle!) scaling/parallax animation on a whole bunch of elements.

As much I don't love delivering straight up wireframes, the boldness and simplicity make these look pretty sleek. I also appreciate the simplicity of the documentation. Clear and understandable; just enough information to let you know what's going on, but not so much you need to spend the week reading it.
