Hey! Thank you for your hard work! I wonder if there is any mention anywhere of Allen being half-Japanese half-other? His name would suggest it and I've just been wondering.
Actually, I need to point out first that his name is actually Japanese. Ā Itās writtenĀ å°ę³¢ę“„ äŗå»Ā but the fact is thatĀ āArenā transliterates quite nicely to an English name equivalent: Allen. Ā Itās not that his name is English, it just has an appropriate English equivalent (unlike e.g. Ryoutarou). Ā In the end, his name doesnāt suggest that he could be biracial. There are official sources (his agency) that tell us that Allen has studied English more intensively, and so he would be aware of that fact and of that spelling. Ā
However, I have not seenĀ any mention by anyoneĀ to suggest that Allen is biracial. Ā But this is something that has been mentioned for Justin and for Noah, with more recent posts that have even grouped them together as this sort of⦠foreigner duo for the cast. Ā I have never once seen this be done for Allen, most likely because he is simply 100% Japanese. Ā Ā
It is also worth mentioning that Allen is at least a quarter Okinawan. Ā He mentioned a while back that his grandmother is from Okinawa, and if one or even both of his parents are Okinawan, that explains why his facial features arenāt entirely characteristic of main-island Japanese people. Ā
But at the end of the day, there are no official sources that indicate that he could be biracial, nor is it anything that comes up casually between the actors in social media posts, and so I strongly doubt it. Ā Itās possible that he could be half-Japanese and half-some-other-type-of-Asian, I donāt know the ethnic backgrounds of his parents so I canāt tell you with certainty. Ā But honestly, I think heās simply Japanese.
I understand that the anglicized spelling of his name is a cause for confusion, but his name is äŗå».
