“Of course I am absolutely sure.” Midorima answered cooly. He has been following Oha Asa ever since he was in elementary school, and so far the lucky items that he sought after every day had aid him well, ensuring that he will always be favoured by fate. Call him superstitious, but that’s what he believed in, and no one shall belittle his beliefs.

“Money is not an issue as long as lucky items are involved. It is a necessity.” As long as fate could be by his side, money was never an issue. He will do whatever he can to obtain the item. He remembered how he paid 5,000 yen to buy Takao his lucky item. It’s not like he cared about him or anything, he just does not want his bad luck to affect his three pointer shoots that day.

It was then that the red-haired girl held out her hand and introduced herself finally. Midorima switched his hands, bringing out his bandaged hand as he introduced himself as well. “Midorima Shintaro. Former basketball player and student at Harpwood University.”

Maki’s purple hues fell onto the other’s bandaged fingers. She definitely was curious as of why they were covered by layers after layers of bandages — did he happen to injure himself? Though, it was none of her concern — so she decided not to let it bother her. ❝Basketball player?❞ Explains why he was towering over almost everyone passing by. ❝Anyway, it’s a pleasure to meet you, uh, Midorima-san, right?❞ She hoped she had pronounced his name correctly. ❝What course are you studying at Harpwood?❞

She pulled her hand back and let it fall to her sides after exchanging the handshake. Perhaps it was because of the way he spoke with such positivity about this lucky item process — but Maki found herself curious enough to start trying out the process for herself. Of course, she was not going to admit that she intended to read up more on the topic when she returns back to her dorm later on. ❝I’ll think about it.❞ That was all she answered. 

❝You must have a considerably large amount of income, then?❞ He most likely came from a pretty well-off family. From the way he was speaking, it came off to Maki as if he would not mind spending a hundred thousand yen simply on his daily lucky items.

{♪} The purple-haired girl nodded after pulling back, small tears welling up in her eyes. Before she could blink them away, she tilted her head and watched Maki avoid looking at her in silence.

❝…It really has, Maki-chan. After we all seperated, I got so busy and… Well…❞

Two pairs of turquoise-coloured eyes trailed away to the side in guilt. Nozomi used to be referred as the ‘mother’ in her old idol group, it hurt her to think she had accidentally cut off communication with them. Especially when she was one of the first to leave, then being Eli Ayase, and Nico Yazawa. The third years of the group. She shook her head, bringing her head up once again to give the red-head a bright smile. It was refreshing to see her face redden with embarrassment, Nozomi couldn’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia shoot through her chest. Speaking of chests…

❝Maki-chan.❞ The occultist started, lips curling into a devious smile. ❝My, you’ve grown a bit, haven’t you?❞

She didn’t waste anymore time for her fingers had already flexed in anticipation. They raised, flexing again for the inevitable. Old habits died hard, and this one in particular had clung to Nozomi throughout the years that had passed by. Many people came to be groped by her infamous hands, and now, they were just about to be unleashed upon another prized bosom.

Wiggling digits shot out, and landed on the other’s chest. Her fingers fondled her breasts, pinching and squeezing. Just like old times.

❝Yeah...❞ She muttered, letting her eyes fall towards the direction of ground. ❝I understand. We all had been busy.❞ 

If anything, even Maki herself — one that would rather stay away from the idea of much ‘human interaction’ — felt a pang of guilt in her chest. She could comprehend why Nozomi and the other third-years were too occupied with — adapting to their new school, or coping with their work in college, perhaps — which resulted them to not contact the group, but — just perhaps — Maki should have really initiated the meet-ups back then. 

It was a little too late to be regretting now, though. 

Probably, it was a bad idea to have preoccupied herself with thoughts about other things, for Maki sure did not expect what was coming up next. All she could muster before the other’s pair of hands latched themselves on her chest was a ❝W-What?!❞. Her cheeks flushed a brighter shade of red, as she wriggled in the grasp of her senior, in a fruitless attempt to break free. 

Curses, how could she have forgotten about that habit of Nozomi’s? Just when she had decided let her guard down for a while... ❝No...Nozomi!❞ Maki exclaims, trying to pull her senior’s hands away from her torso. ❝W—What are you doing?! S...Stop it!❞

"That is so." Midorima replied. Fate works in mysterious ways, and in order to have fate work in favour for him, he has to bring his lucky items every day. Even if the item is just plain odd. He dare not to question the obscurity of the item selection and just choose to follow the flow instead.

The girl does not seem to have her resolve ready when she questioned her lucky item. "Yes, you must bring it around with you at all times."  He briefly explained the guidelines which must be followed in order to make sure that the lucky item could work. He suffered tremendously when one of his lucky item broke on that day. Unfortunate events swept him like tidal waves. 

"Unless, you want unfortunate events to happen at every corner, I suggest that you keep your lucky item close." Midorima warned the girl. He was just trying to help, but he couldn’t help but feel that it sounded more like a threat than a suggestion, but it’s too late for him to take his statement back anyways.

❝Well...❞ How could she phrase this without sounding overly rude? ❝Are you really sure about this? I mean...❞ She frowned, and crossed her arms over one another. ❝Is this really effective?❞ Hopefully Maki didn’t sound overly rude back there — though she always did have the tendency to seem harsh in the way she phrased her sentences. Not like that could be helped. 

❝Besides, doesn’t it cost a lot to buy all those items?❞ She questioned, tapping her lower chin with a finger, her eyebrows raised. Perhaps he was from a rich family? Or maybe he was some sort of collector? Maki wasn’t sure if she was willing to spend that amount of money for a bunch of things that would only be of use for one day. It just didn’t seem worth it to her. 

A sudden realization hit her — was she rattling on and on without introducing herself formally? ❝Oh, pardon my manners.❞ She says, as she extended a hand out. ❝My name is Maki Nishikino. Formal school idol, current student in St. Katarina’s Academy. And you are...?❞

Her name was already sort of short, so as much as she would have wanted to give her a nickname, it felt unlikely. She would probably have to give it some more thought; she was sure if she tried hard enough, she’d come up with something. It did confirm the other girl’s identity though, which Kongou found cool, at least!

"So tell me, Makki," Leaning against the desk, Kongou laced her fingers together and propped her cheek up on them as she regarded the other. The extra K was intentional in her inflection. "What are you studying? Is it tricky stuff?"

 Maybe the redhead was the smart type? The diligent type? Obviously she was much more mature than herself. Maybe she could even help her with her pesky readings!  How sad it seemed, though, having a junior help her senior.

❝It’s Maki,❞ she corrected, giving the other a displeased look. Was she doing this on purpose, or what? Either way, Maki definitely did not appreciate her mispronouncing her name. It just... Irked her.

Her purple hues fell back to the lecture notes on the table. ❝It depends on how you see it.❞ She replies simply, as she lifted the stack of paper up to tidy up the place. ❝I’m studying music.❞ 

Maki turns back to the girl, a small glint of curiosity in her eyes. ❝And how about yourself, umm... Kongou-san, right?❞ She muttered, tilting her head slightly for the other to confirm her pronunciation.

Noriaki had only been in the city for a few months now, and he’d gotten used to the area fairly quickly so he could only assume this girl had been staying here for a short period of time. Dropping his bag to the floor while he pulled his coat back on, he buttoned it up quickly before haphazardly wrapping his scarf around his neck; dressing with haste to get out of there as soon as possible.

"It’s a good job I didn’t want anything to begin with then, isn’t it?" Ready to close up the flower store for now, the redhead walked towards the door and pushed it open, holding it ajar for the girl to pass through. "I can take you to the bus stop, though it’s a little far from here. It’s a better alternative to walking a few districts over though, I’m sure."

❝Hmm?❞ Did she smell a hint of sarcasm in the other's tone in that sentence? It didn't really bother her, though — she was here to get directions, not to get his approval for anything, anyway. 

❝Yeah, that would be good, I guess,❞ she answers, as she glanced at the other making his way towards the exit, and following suit after a few seconds. She nodded her head — just very slightly — in acknowledgement when he held the door open for her. 

❝Would it be okay, though? Leaving your shop alone, I mean.❞

{✽| Looking around in confusion, Morgiana stands still trying to spot her partner from where she stood. Normally a task like this wouldn’t be so hard however it was hard to concentrate with everyone talking and pushing past her.

     When she hears a voice call to her, her gaze is quick to focus on a girl who looks to be her age. Staring at her, Morgiana listens before smiling inside. Yes. This is her partner. ❝Yes. We are.❞ Remembering she can look a bit intimidating without realizing it, Morgiana flashes her a small polite smile.

❝It’s nice to meet you, Maki?❞ She says in a questionable tone. As if asking for the others approval to know she pronounced her name correctly. ❝I’m Morgiana.❞ She seems like a rather nice girl so maybe this whole thing should be easy. Hopefully.

Her partner sounded like someone she could get along with. From the outside, at least. ❝Yup. Morgiana... Is that right?❞ Maki questioned as she raised an eyebrow, glancing at her for confirmation. She hoped she had not pronounced that wrongly, though — that would most likely leave her with a terrible first impression. Oh, well. 

❝It's a pleasure to meet you as well.❞ She replies, as she extended a hand for a handshake, returning the other's smile. This was getting more and more of an 'out of the ordinary' thing for Maki to be doing. Usually, she'd be sitting at a corner, minding her own business — and look at what she's doing now? All she could do was to hope that she was doing this whole 'befriending' thing right.

Some would think Midorima would only remember his own horoscope and ignores the others. But truth be told. Midorima always remembers every single lucky item for each of the star signs. He sometimes gives his old teammates their lucky items according to their star signs. It isn’t like he’s helping them or anything, he just doesn’t want their bad luck to affect the matches that he’s going to participate into.

"I have you know that this is not a hobby." The green-haired male quickly corrects the girl. "It determines your fate." His glasses momentarily flashed before he finished.

He was amused by the red-haired girl, for she seemed to be genuinely interested in knowing her lucky item. He does not see why he shouldn’t help the girl a little. "Aries…" The Cancerian thought, trying to recall the information regarding its lucky item. And then suddenly it came to him.

"Aries’s lucky item of the day is freshly-cooked rice."  Midorima answered with a matter-of-fact tone.

He's definitely in too deep with this horoscope thing. Fate? Come on, there's no way this is going to be that deep, right? It was just an item for one to bring around, after all. Or at least, that was what it seemed like to her. ❝Huh... Is that so.❞ Maki replies, as she let out what seemed like a forced chuckle. 

Freshly-cooked rice? Maki wasn't sure if she was expecting something less outlandish. ❝So... I have to get my own bowl of rice? And bring it around with me?❞ The mention of 'rice' immediately led Maki to recall a certain friend she had back in her high school. Perhaps if that friend's lucky item for the day was 'rice', she'd be more than just delighted. But that wasn't the case for Maki. 

Anyway, the thing is — Maki didn't mind trying this entire 'lucky item' process for a day, but having to bring a bowl of rice around with her? Even up the train, to lectures, and hell, even to the washroom? That seemed almost a little too eccentric, wasn't it?

Well, not like this Oha Asa thing isn't that unusual in the first place, though.

Kongou did not get the hint.

"Nothing at all!" Kongou replied readily, conveniently ignoring the stacks of readings splayed out before her, and her sisters hiding and peeking from around the corner, for the time being. If her lecture notes had a face, they would no doubt be glaring at her; but never mind that! She had a potential friend to bug! And said potential friend just so happened to be an awfully cute underclassman. And a former school idol if she wasn’t mistaken. An interesting person, no doubt about it.

Kongou was graduating soon, after all, and it wouldn’t be long until she wouldn’t be able to see her schoolmates again. It was a bittersweet feeling, the impending promise of transitioning to college, but she wasn’t going to let any of that stop her from making use of her time and making as many friends as possible!

The brunette hummed in consideration, going through the motions  of thinking deeply, thumb-and-forefinger-to-chin gesture and all. Cue a faux lightbulb moment. “Ah! How about your name? I’m Kongou!”

❝Huh...?❞ Maki mumbled, her violet hues never once leave the other's gaze. She lifted an eyebrow, and crossed her legs; as she leaned a little further away from the other. She definitely didn't want to have 'nothing at all' to do with Maki. In fact, it almost seemed to the redhead like she wanted to come around to pester her. And she definitely didn't like the sound of that.

From the other's appearance-wise, and the way she spoke — Maki would have assumed that she was a junior instead of actually being older than herself. Besides, she seemed to come off as an airhead, if anything. Though, it seemed a little too early to be judging her. 

She sighed, and let her eyelids fall. ❝Maki Nishikino.❞

{♪} Nozomi nodded proudly. 

❝Right! You all should come stop by the shop, I’ll offer you guys readings, free of charge!❞ 

Turquoise eyes gleamed at the prospect of her store being filled with people, all curious little things poking around every nook and cranny. It had only been a few days since ‘Madam Nozomi Tarot Cards & Crystal Reading’ had made his grand opening, but during that time, she had been seeing more people outside the store, rather than inside. She didn’t know why people seemed to be afraid of the building. Was it because of the aura surrounding it? Or maybe they were scared of her, and stories of her notorious feats? Nozomi glanced down at her hands. There hadn’t been any groping on the premises. Or not that she remembered. 

❝..Ah, well, yes!❞ Oblivious to the group’s rather grim atmosphere, the occultist cleared her throat, hands at her hips. ❝I must be going, duty calls.❞  

But when she had started to step away from the others, she felt a small digit tap on her right shoulder. A quite, familiar voice sounded near her ears. It couldn’t be…

❝M-Maki-chan!❞ Nozomi bounced up onto her toes in surprise, shock colouring her soft features. ❝ Maki-chan, is that you?❞ She couldn’t believe her eyes. Was it fate that had brought the former songwriter of her old idol group, muse, to meet with Nozomi? Maybe her spirits had a part in this miracle, too. Whatever it was, Nozomi leaped forward and took the redhead into a tight hug.

Right, she should have noticed the shop label that was displayed in the mid-air earlier. 'Madam Nozomi Tarot Cards & Crystal Reading', was it? There was only one person around whose name was Nozomi and who had a thing with these fortune-telling things. At least, Maki never understood things like that, anyway. 

❝Nozo...❞ was all the lass could muster before she found herself in the embrace of the other. And boy, Nozomi could hug real tight indeed. If she weren't in the verge of gasping for air, Maki would have found this entire reunion — don't laugh at her for saying this —  heartwarming. How long have it been since they last seen each other, anyway? It must have been at least 3 years — or perhaps even longer. Maki didn't know anymore. 

Well, on the brighter note, at least being hugged is better than being groped in the chest. Maki had her share of experiences with the other preying after her — uh — breasts, after all. Besides, they didn't usually end quite well. 

❝T-That's q-quite enough...❞ She says, as she pulled back, catching her breath. A deep shade of pink inched its way onto her cheeks, as she let her purple hues wander elsewhere. 

❝It had been some time, right? Nozomi...❞

Marceline finished checking her equipment, taking a few experimental strums to make sure everything was working just fine. Of course, about the time she was ready to start practicing,  someone spoke up, a particular note of disdain in their voice. She looked up, one eyebrow raised. “Uhh…yeah. It’s a music room, kind of what it’s for,” she responded.

Oh man, was she going to be stuck here with someone like this? Why did it seem like something always backfired? “The equipment here is better for what I need. You got a problem with it, princess?” Her fingers slipped over the strings, going for one of her own melodies, a slow little beat she’d yet to put words to, but she’d get there eventually.

She’d even taken care to make sure she hadn’t turned up the amp too loud, and adjusted it as necessary. “Trust me, you’ll barely know I’m here.” Or at least, that was her plan. But it wasn’t like she planned on leaving any time soon. At least, not until she at least had one verse down. 

She was pretty sure there was still something missing in it. Though maybe she was just over thinking it.

From the way the other spoke, Maki knew that she was definitely someone who would be on the 'can't get along with' list. She strode across the room, towards the grand piano, and placed her sling bag beside the instrument. Then, turning back to the girl, she spoke in a firm tone — ❝You're not going to be playing that in here.❞ 

Right, right. She's going to have the visitor get a bad impression of her, and blah, blah. But Maki is definitely not going to be able to tolerate god knows how long of an electric guitar playing behind the tune of her piano. What she needed now was peace and quiet to compose a new song. Definitely not an electric guitar blaring throughout the music room. And definitely not another person to divert her attention off her piece.

❝And besides... You're going to be distracting me!❞ She says, her arms akimbo. Of course, Maki knew that this would most certainly not be enough to drive the other out of the music room, but hey. Every little thing counts.

His polite act was dropped in an instant. For one, there was no point in appearing friendly if the girl herself wasn’t going to bother (which he was somewhat grateful for considering how tired he was at that moment) and two, he technically wasn’t on the clock right now, so he wasn’t even obligated to help her at all, so she couldn’t really complain whether he was happy about it or not.

Still, he stepped closer to peer at the address on the slip of paper the other redhead handed out, eyes squinting slightly as he thought before nodding his head.

"St. Katrinas?" he asked, violet eyes shifting from the paper to the face of the girl who held it. She must have been new to the school, or possibly even to the area itself. "It’s in the first district, right? Would you prefer written directions, or shall I just show you to the bus stop that will take you near there?"

Thank the gods. It seemed like she approached the right person to ask for directions. Of course, Maki noticed the way he seemed to be irked by the way she was staring at him, though — as she've mentioned — it was probably too late to change that now. Whatever, she'll just go along with it.

Judging from the way he spoke, he was probably very familiar with the city — as compared to her, of course. Perhaps he was a long-time resident? He didn't appear to be much older than herself, so he may actually be a student as well. Either way, it should be alright to trust him. Right?

❝It would be better if you could show me to the bus stop... But anything counts, really. Written directions would be fine too. It's just...❞

❝D-Don't expect me to give you anything in return, alright?❞

Noriaki had been in the back part of the store when he heard the door swinging open; the tiny area reserved only for employees, out of the eye of any customers. He didn’t usually go in there often, preferring to spend any free time wandering around the garden in which he worked, but it was the beginning of his lunch break so he’d disappeared momentarily to fetch his belongings just as someone had arrived.

Torn between dealing with — who he assumed was — a customer right now and abandoning his coat and bag, or just walking out and pretending he had nothing to do with customer service (it was his break after all, and who knows how long this person might want to mess about), Noriaki let out a gentle sigh as a voice called out, searching for assistance.

Reaching up to rub his temples, he reluctantly called back.

"One moment, please…."

The coat he’d been halfway pulling on was shrugged back off again, tucking it under his arm as he reached for his bag and returned to the main area of the store, sheepishly putting on his best ‘polite employee’ smile as he peered at the girl with tired, violet eyes. 

"Can I help you?" The redhead asked, seeming a little curious. She didn’t have anything in her hands she wanted to purchase, so he figured she needed his assistance with something else.

Took this employee long enough to emerge from wherever he was hiding in. But she supposed he was busy with other things, considering how he seemed to be the only employee present in the shop at that time. Did this store had not enough funds to hire another employee, or what? Well, whatever it was, it didn't matter, now that he had arrived. 

Though, she ought to have given him a more friendly look when he had stepped towards her, since she was the one trying to ask for his help here. Ah, whatever. 

She sighed, and extended a hand to show the other the address of the school she had been trying so hard — but with no avail — to search for. ❝This school. Do you have any idea how to get there?❞ He better have at least heard of where this school is located at, or she was definitely going to get irritated now.

Midorima have already gotten used to being labelled as an odd person because of his peculiar obsession with his lucky items. He never fails to bring them every day, no matter how out-of-place or plain weird they might be. It’s not like the green-haired male cares anyways. He has no time to think about the opinions of others, he’s just doing what he thinks it’s right for him to do. 

Of course, his interesting behaviour has caught the attention of many people around him, which isn’t news to the green-haired male since it was like this when he was a young boy. He does not see any problem with that.

Midorima was pleased that he was able to get his lucky item easily today. A nice box of chocolates are never too hard to find, especially when there’s supermarkets in every district in Brieve that sells them. Carefully putting the nicely decorated box on his bandaged hand, he walked out of the supermarket and starts heading back towards his apartment, but not before an unfamiliar female voice stopped him from his tracks. Curious as to who it might be, he turned around to check where the source of the voice came from and notices that a short girl was standing right behind him. She seemed to be curious about the item he was holding onto.

It was rather interesting for the Cancerian to see that someone actually came and directly asked him about his lucky items, instead of gossiping about it like most people do, which tends to annoy him slightly. He almost admired the girl for her curiosity. Almost.

"Those are the lucky items for Cancer as predicted everyday by Oha Asa." Midorima briefly explained, a slight smirk creeped up on his face before moving on “And this is today’s lucky item.” Bringing out his bandaged hand that was holding his lucky item. "A box of chocolates". He pushed up his spectacles, momentarily reflecting the sunlight that was shining upon them.

Wait — what did he just say? Oha Asa? What in the world was that, anyway? For a moment, all Maki could do was to stare at the other, a look of pure puzzlement on her features. ❝Oha... Oha-what?❞ She stuttered, as she raised a brow in confusion.

She paused for a second, trying to sort out whatever he had mentioned. Cancer. Predicted. Lucky item. She supposed this Oha Asa — Oha Rasa, or whatever it was called — was some sort of programme associated with horoscopes. Of course Maki've heard of things like that — but she definitely didn't know that there actually were people who followed whatever they announced.

If this person weren't a stranger, she would probably have burst into laughter — or perhaps, teased them about it. Though, she definitely didn't want to hurt the feelings of this person here, so all she could do was bite her lower lip and nod her head. ❝Oh... I see. It's a rather... A rather... Fascinating hobby you have here. Uh, I guess.❞ Yes, that was the word for it.

❝W-Well, I'm an Aries!❞ She says, after what seemed like a few seconds of silence. ❝I suppose you could tell me about my, uh... Lucky item of the day?❞ Truth to be told, she was indeed rather intrigued about this entire daily-horoscope-thing. Even if she didn't want to admit it. Perhaps she could even learn a thing or two about this topic. Who knows.

Of course Maki was aware that she had to share the music room with someone else today. Someone else from another school, apparently. Was the school having some sort of musician gathering from across schools, or something? Geez. How annoying. If anything, it irked the girl to no end that she would most likely not be able to get some time off without having to be disturbed by whoever that she would have to share the room with that day. 

❝Why can't the school invest in building up another music room instead, anyway?❞ She mumbled under her breath, as she proceeded towards the room, her bag slung across her shoulder as she twirled a loose strand of hair with her fingers. 

Whatever. All she had to do was to ignore this person, right? That way, Maki would be able to get on with writing up another piece of music before the deadline for that task. Sounds easy enough. 

Pushing open the door, Maki stepped into the music room, only to see a raven-haired girl setting up what seemed like an... Electric guitar?! Won't that instrument tear the entire music room down with its loudness? How exactly would she be able to get on with playing her piano, then? ❝H-Hey! Are you going to be playing that here?!❞

So this was the girl that was assigned by the school to be her partner for the Year 1s' orientation? Maki looked up from her novel, and turned towards the other to familiarize herself with — at the very least — her appearance. She had a similar tone of red hair, though hers was definitely more striking compared to Maki's. Right. Girl with bright red hair, right? She should be easy to spot among the crowd of students, if Maki ever had to find her around.

God, was she tough-looking. Even compared to Maki, she seemed as if she spent 10 hours in the gym everyday. She seemed as if she could tear down the school campus if she wanted to — that was exactly how strong she appeared to be. What exactly could Maki do to break this awkward silence between the two of them, though? Maki didn't like the idea of having to interact with people she wasn't familiar with, but she supposed this could be an exceptional case — for they were partners, after all. 

❝Hey...❞ She begun, abruptly breaking the silence between the two. ❝We're partners for this orientation programme, right?❞

❝My name's Maki Nishikino. You are--?❞
