I haven't had the time to actually give everyone the warmest of welcomes, given that Ms. Pillsbury and I have been crazy with wedding plans, but its a new year, and of course we've lost people to graduation, some of them our power voices like Rachel and Santana, and our best dancers, like Quinn and Mike. But don't fret because we've got fresh new faces and we're ready to take sectionals by storm!
First I'd like to welcome the new students, Marley, Wade, and Kitty. You are all a fantastic addition to our team. Second of all, I was vaguely aware of some competition forming, trying to replace Rachel? I just wanted to throw a quick reminder that we are not looking to replace anyone, everyone is unique in their own way, and our new captain will be decided by all of you. I'll explain more about this later. Second, our setlist. The theme for sectionals this year is Iconic Songs, meaning that we are to do songs that are inspiring, not only to us, but to the audience. Songs that inspire us to thrive for more, and outdo ourselves, to reach for our goals. Songs that make us happy. Now, I have thought of a few songs that might work, but I do want to hear the opinion of everyone regarding this, so it would be great if you guys would send ideas to the inbox on what song we could perform. I've been putting a lot of thought into this and I think that a solo and a group number would be fantastic and a great start for our competition.
Last, but not least, assignments. What I love about you guys is that you are quick to express yourselves because you are not afraid to show who you really are, but I've been noticing a lot of tension lately and I'm not sure why. We need to work on this group dynamic so as an assignment for the week you will choose a song that describes a side of you that you usually do not show to the world. If you like to dance but hate showing it, sing a song about dancing, or if you like Taylor Swift, then sing a Taylor Swift song. No judgements, no criticizing - anything revealed will stay in the choir room. I want you guys to get creative with this - you can duet, you can do a solo, or you guys can get together and sing a song as a group, but I do want to see everyone singing. The assignment is due at the end of this week, meaning that Friday, every single one of you should have performed some kind of song for us. If you are unsure on what to do, Ms. Pillsbury will be available to help you brainstorm.
About our opening for the captain spot, it will be put to vote. We are all aware of what we can do and what we can't do, and I'd like for all of you to send in a vote to the inbox. The voting will be done in a period of two days, to give everyone a chance to vote, and the winner will be announced tomorrow night. So send in those votes. Remember you are not allowed to vote for yourself.
Have a great weekend everyone!
ooc note: The assignment can be done in a self para, a group chatzy, or a regular para with another person. Just make sure you mark it in your para index with Assignment 001. The voting can also be done anonymously, but you can't vote twice so it'd be preferable if its done regularly. Remember they're not obligated, but greatly encouraged.
