I don’t know how to write about Steve Harrington as a character in a way that’ll do him justice, yet somehow I feel like that’s the point—like it’s okay that I’ll never have the right words because neither would he. Because none of us ever expected how important he’d become, and that’s where so much of the comfort in his character comes from. He sneaks up on you, not as stealthily as a ninja, but slowly, and then all at once. He weaves his way into our hearts and stays there, making the kind of impact I’ve been thinking about for eight years now—since Season 2, when he became my favorite character, and I never looked back.

Now, months after Stranger Things ended with its fifth season, I still can’t find the right words. I keep turning to different playlists and fan videos, rewatching them and crying all over again because this one’s really special, isn’t he? A lot of times, when I write these Character Deep Dives that I find to be super challenging, it’s because I relate to the character in someway that I’m just not quite sure how to verbalize. But I don’t think it’s about relating to Steve here, but rather the hope he evokes. The way we all rallied together to make sure he made it to the end. The way we all hoped, not just for his survival but for his happy ending.

"This terrace scene in Bridgerton is incredibly intimate — a delicate moment suspended in time where two wandering souls are safe with each other to be themselves. Benedict with his silly bow, and Sophie with her carefree laugh. Benedict’s gentleness as he guides Sophie in a dance lesson. It culminates with a tender kiss on the cheek by Benedict and a full-on kiss on the lips by Sophie as a parting farewell when the bell tolls midnight (another change from the book). As far as first kisses go, this one has lingered with me ever since I first watched it. Sophie’s initial force as she goes in for the kiss is met with equal passion as Benedict does everything he can to keep their lips connected as she backs away. He does not want to let this woman go, and yet, he stands there stunned, unable to move until she’s out of his sight."

Heated Rivalry's "The Cottage" understands not only the very foundation of the romance genre, but our inherently human need to love others.

I’ve watched a lot of romance adaptations and genre originals. Those of us who love the genre generally consume it frequently, but I’ve never seen anything like the entirety of Heated Rivalry’s “The Cottage.” The show’s first season is a masterclass in adaptation in more ways than one, and it’s entirely because Rachel Reid’s series is a treasure trove of incredible material to showcase the progression of a rivals-to-lovers romance. (Apologies to Shane, who’s very likely cringing at the word “lovers” right now.) But it’s true, and how Jacob Tierney continues to respect the source material by allowing the episode to be an unapologetic display of softness and warmth is everything.

Yes, I’ll be writing about every scene where a doctor from The Pitt acknowledges Mel’s sensitivity and voices why it’s important. The series shines for a myriad of reasons, and while Noah Wyle is indeed the face most people will recognize, the show wouldn’t be the treasure it is without Taylor Dearden’s embodiment of Mel King. And in The Pitt Season 1, Episode 9, “3:00 P.M.,” Dr. Langdon not only recognizes her sensitivity, but he voices how people need people like her, allowing their soft moment in the lounge to become one of the season’s most striking beats of solace.

Ask the most sensitive person you know what’s the one thing countless people have said to them regarding their sensitivity. Ask them what words make them flinch and how hearing it can sometimes cause such a visceral reaction that it makes the whole thing worse. The people who hold a plethora in because they’ll do anything to avoid those words, so instead, we do everything in our power to prevent them. If you haven’t guessed by now, the words are some variation of “You’re too sensitive.” And yet, in The Pitt Season 1, Episode 14, “8:00 P.M.,” the opposite words are used when Dr. Robby tells Mel King that she’s awesome.

The Pitt Season 1 is unlike anything else that's on TV right now.

With its unique pacing, brilliant performances, and simple yet thoroughly engrossing writing, The Pitt easily becomes one of the best shows of the year. If it hadn’t been released at the same time as Apple TV+’s Severance (now in its sophomore season), I’d go ahead and call Max’s new medical drama the show of the year.

In a recent interview with Decider, Supriya Ganesh said that if Samira Mohan had a Taylor Swift song, it’d be “mirrorball.” And based on everything we see from her character in The Pitt Season 1, there’s something so achingly heartbreaking about that idea, which makes her character’s journey feel that much more relatable.

Beautiful, magical, breathtaking, gorgeous, extraordinary, sensational—a masterpiece, an inimitable work of art. Severance’s “Chikhai Bardo” is the type of episode that, years from now, filmmakers will be studying to understand the versatility and depth of storytelling. It’s the type of episode that’s a testament to the undeniably perfect performances, Dan Erickson and Mark Friedman’s screenplay, and Jessica Lee Gagné’s breathtakingly brilliant directing and cinematography.

Peter and Rose's romantic future is uncertain after The Night Agent Season 2 finale, so we break down what their last scene means.

It’s hard to say whether it’s fully over for Peter and Rose after The Night Agent Season 2 finale. What isn’t hard to say is that what we get in their last conversation is an unmistakable love declaration without the three words being uttered aloud—it’s more than that even.

The story begins because Rose Larkin calls Night Action, and Peter Sutherland picks up. They’re bound by trauma, yes, and that’s not always a positive thing, but sometimes, it’s still tremendously meaningful, and this is especially the case for the two of them because neither has nor would they ever harm the other. At the same time, Rose and Peter don’t have much outside of their relationship either. They’re both alone and even while they have maybe decent coworkers, they don’t have true friends or a familial unit. Their trust was, first and foremost, established by an unlikely friendship that later led to a relationship, which is where so much of the loyalty lies.
