An X Reader blog made just for fun to help me write better.
You share your x reader ideas, and I'll write about it! ✧.*
Posting may be inconsistent depending on whether I vibe with the idea or not so let's take a deep breath and be patient o( ̄▽ ̄)d
●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・
Reader will be narrated in second-person (ex: you, yours) to keep reader gender-neutral. But in my mind I do write reader in the gender opposite to the character's since that's what I'm comfy with. No hard feelings, partner. That's how I roll ヾ(⌐■_■)ノ♪.
When sending your ideas/requests, make sure to specify:
which character?
if it's fluff/angst/hurt-comfort?
if it's headcanons or oneshot?
and whether it's platonic or romantic?
you can add additional information of what you want the writing to be, otherwise I'll just make my own or turn it into headcanons depending on the mood :p
If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask! (o゜▽゜)o☆

❒Now, here are the fandoms I'll write for:
Songs Of War (MC animated series) only those properly introduced in the animation (with their names stated and all)
Phighting (Roblox game) only the 15 playable phighters + Zuka
❒What I will write for the above mentioned:
Fluff
Angst
Hurt-comfort
Oneshot
Headcanon (no more limit; we ball, with max of 5 characters in one request)
Platonic (Biograft is here)
Romantic (only with 18+ aged characters)
❒What I will NOT write:
Suggestive
NSFW (smut is in here as well as extreme gore)
Multiple characters x reader (unless stated to be written separately)
Anything else that aren't stated on the things I'll write :p

hello cool tumbleweed!! you look cool and I hope everything is going well
- the official anon (if you do anon lists)
Howdy now, the official anon!
Am doin' fine, and thanks a bunch for checking in on me.
But uh...writing wise? I'm stuck, like uh...I have the oneshot story (coilxreader) points in order and all I have to do now is expand on those points.
And I may have been uh...procrastinating on writing the actual training and sparring scene. I mean, I could just skip it and say "they trained for twice a week", but there needs to be a build up! So the confession would have more meaning!
We need to dive in to your mind and see how much the training, the proximity, the time together, is affecting your feelings for that dude and when you'll confess to him!
And I'm not sayin' the request itself is hard, I'm saying I'm having a hard time focusin' and writin' what needs to be there that actually fits my standard of creative writing.
No request is generally hard, it's just me and my standard of writing ( ̄ヘ ̄;)
But I really am fine, dear official anon, just...still stuck in the quicksand like last year.
Howdy, darlin'! Been a while since I updated, and...the only reason I could say was I've been busy wallowing on quicksand (writer's block).
...that, and studies. And consuming other fandom media... (;^ω^)
Can just imagine me in a shallow quicksand, my feet to hips swallowed by the doughy ground. Arms and elbows soiled as I still try to get out of it. And all while struggling, I watch my horse just eating shrub from feet away. Trying to see if he's okay or not with how he's switching his weight from one leg to another, thinking if he's lame or not.
But! I've been goin' back and forth in the lore of Phighting, and WOW, I had to rewrite some of the ideas of the oneshots that I've already started.
Yes, I do be jumpin' from one request to another. Whichever idea my mind was suddenly thinking off.
With that said, I will share the summary of the first two oneshots that I've been focusing on, since I'm mighty pleased with how I've summed it up without spoiling anythin'. (〜 ̄▽ ̄)〜
And by summed up, I meant write down the plot in one paragraph or two.
◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆
You met him when a flyer showed of an underground phighting match. He met you when you saved him from being chased down on the roof. Since then, your visits to the underground phighting match wasn't the same as you linger to where he is and he allows your company to stay. Friendship blooming and a hint of admiration growing into something more. Does he feel the same?
Now, what happens when you were asked to train your combat skills? Well, Coil owes you one, and you've been meaning to tell him about what you feel...guess you'll be hitting two birds with one stone for this one.

You turn a blind eye when your friend invited you to the "family". You turn a blind eye when you were asked to snipe out "hindrances" to his plans. You turn a blind eye when you saw your lover, splattered with blood on her pristine self. But when your friend died by your own hands with reasons he didn't deserve...you wouldn't even dare glance their way, even when you found out whose blood would soon splatter on her tonight.

But ANYWAYYYY hope you're doing good, and I'll be looking out for your writing again and keeping an eye on the request box when it's open!
I'll think of an anon tag later lol
Hallo halloooo dear!
Thanks for stumbling by and enjoying my writings! (ㆁωㆁ) And for sharing them!
And and! It may take a while to get through the current requests, but I'm glad you're looking forward to requesting!
Also! Thank you for the concern o((*^▽^*))o hope you, darlin', have a nice day!

AND update for everyone on the Coil x reader oneshot: Intro and ending is finished, just need the middle part! Like, the meat of it!
What if a gender-neutral reader × Medkit where the reader is apart of a small duo-band thingy with a friend of theirs (the two want to get good enough so that Valk and Dom would acknowledge them atleast)
BUT
The reader secretly fawns over Medkit from afar based on seeing him from supposed Phighting commentary by Valk and Dom, like, for no reason at all they just simply like Medkit
They sometimes even see him outside when they aren't busy with any work, but tenses and walks the other way when they do catch a glimpse of him.
They sometimes fantasise about him a lot to the point where they even composed some tunes that correlate with Medkit's tune, and... showed it off to their small fanbase and their idol-partner... gulp...
They feel like it'd be practically impossible that they would manage to converse with Medkit, or to even get to know him based on how reserved he is.
But, things fall into place when Sword blabbering about the reader and their music-partner towards Medkit and forces him to go to a meet-and-greet in regards to the reader and their band-partner
I hope it'd be fine to format it as a oneshot, maybe you can think of an ending? If that's alright with you
(P.S: I do hope that you can portray the reader to be charming, teasing, and eccentric on screen and to their fans but fumbles when it comes to Medkit, other than that, they'd be the type to go with the flow)
(P.P.S.S: I wish for this to be somewhat of an infatuation turned to potential romantic-chemistry between the reader and Medkit)
(Side note: this feels very cringy and cliche but SHHH)
I hear you, partner, I hear you! I'll try and portray it!
This wild game will be quite a hassle. But hey! We're doing it!
...
AND IT WAS A QUITE A TRIP!
But seriously though, I enjoyed listening to some instrumentals while writing this.
And I am sorry about taking this long to finish it, as such it is quite a long read. Uh...13k words I think (;^ω^)
Also, heads up! There's some pov switches, but you'll know who's pov it is once you've read it.

Info: Music has the ability to show the artist's emotions or story, and even what they feel. So when you share that music in public; a music you made with a certain someone in mind, you best prepare that that tune of admiration will reach him sooner or later.

The sunlight seeped through the window of the living room. Orange hue embracing the room to a calm, lazy afternoon. Your favorite time of the day as you sat on the floor watching your favorite show on your phone.
The sizzling sound of food being cooked came from the kitchen as the aroma of fried pork belly and fried rice reached the room where you were.
Karambit’s cooking would've made you dash to the kitchen and beg for a taste if it weren't for what you were watching. Or rather who.
Any episode of Phighting! would've been easy for you to put down so you could grab a snack and return to watch it. But this isn't any episode now, is it?
No. Not when your friend began making the stirred veggies did you not look up from the screen to check if you could ask for a bowl of it to snack on while watching.
You didn’t even notice the sun had long set and how dark the room was before Karambit opened the lights to cross the room, making you squint before going back to your show.
So what’s so special about this one?
Was it the set of teams that are phighting against each other?
The areas where the pight was taking place?
Was a phestival on-going?
Or…was it—
“Stop oogling on Medkit. Dinner is at ten.” Your roommate called you out. Not even looking at the on-going phight to know why you hadn’t left your spot for almost an hour. Somehow he already knew, and every time…every time, it never fails to make your face burn.
“Wha–?! But I–-it’s not…” Your defense died in your throat as much as you wanted to deny it. Oh, but even so you knew it was pointless considering you always do this when Medkit is on the roster. And it didn’t take long for Karambit to catch up.
But what exactly do you see in that inphernal who seemed to always run on caffeine and have a permanent “I don’t care. Don’t talk to me” face?
You returned to watching the phight. The blush on your cheeks slowly fading as you listened to the Flipside brothers’ commentary. Ears more tuned in on their voices than what they were saying…until one of them mentioned his name. And your eyes just lit up like a lantern at night as you listened to what they had to say, with the camera zooming in on him.
The voices of the Flipside turned to background noise as you focused on him. The very inphernal who took your attention from your musical idols. Medkit.
Attentive eyes watched his tired yet purposeful movements; albeit reluctant, as he moved from vantage point to vantage point to stay out of harm’s way. And shot to heal an ally or try to headshot an enemy. And used his phinisher while his horns glowed to the surge of power coming from his crystal. And when he managed to shut down a Biograft, or Subspace and the corners of his lips twitched upward. Not quite a smile. Maybe a smirk. But nonetheless a rare moment.
So rare that you had to take a quick screenshot of it. Just for, y’know, something to stare at and be giddy about. And when you did a quick check of your gallery just to make sure it was really saved, you couldn’t help but sigh in relief. A goofy smile adorning your warm face that remained even when you returned to the live Phighting! game.
Even after the show had ended and you were now having dinner with your best friend, that same wide smile persisted and amplified by the good food Karambit whipped up.
You just saw the phighter you admired give an almost smile and your musical partner outdone themselves in tonight’s dinner? You might as well be living a dream with how much it felt like you’re floating in cloud nine—
“So…I’m assuming you managed to get over your block and already composed a new piece.”
And just like that, you looked like you got splashed with ice water; wide eyes, tense shoulders and just stopping mid chew, while he just calmly ate his food like you didn’t just get pulled back to Inpherno from being in absolute bliss.
He didn’t have to look your way to see how devastated you would look. Or how guilty you must have been. Or maybe both. The silence stretching on was good enough for him to know that…you have NOT gotten over your artist’s block. Only further backed-up by your resigned sigh.
“I’m…still having a hard time composing…” you openly admit. Gripping your spoon as you looked anywhere but him and hunched over, pouting. Reminded again that it was your turn to bring new music on the table after Karambit and you played his composition two months ago.
It's what you two agreed upon. To give both of you a chance to express yourselves through music and share it with others and maybe reach the same level as the Flipside; which may be a stretch with how your music mainly revolves on violin and guitar creating music reflecting your experience.
Nonetheless, some inphernals came to love your duet’s compositions. Fans that were supportive and understanding. Companies that naturally gravitated to the traditional and contemporary style. And Karambit knew this.
“And that’s okay.” he assured you as he trained his eyes on your sulking figure. “Art takes time.” he continued, “Just, remember…” voice trailing off, knowing that you already knew what he was going to say.
“I know, I know.” You huff, straightening up with a small smile. “Gotta do something to pull myself from this pit.” you rolled your eyes and returned to your food.
“Right. And what are you going to do?” he mused.
“Visit Crossroads.”
He raised his brow. “Again?”
And you nod. “Yeah. Saw this post about a new park renovation and trending lines of food trucks. Thought I should check it out.”
It wasn’t new to him that you’d much rather jog your mind for ideas in a crowded place. Or how lax and carefree you can be at times in thinking of what to write despite the world being loud and relentless. But you never really questioned his way of manifesting an idea to arrange into music.
Not when he was meditating at the nearest waterfall in the nearby forest. Or his short hike alone to reflect on things about whatever crossed his mind. Or even when he decided to try training himself with his gear to help with his “brainstorming”.
Naturally, his gaze on you softened and a small smile danced on his lips. You were such an oddball. Nothing new there. Even when he saw you getting invested on Phighting! and began adoring a certain teal horned inphernal, he wouldn’t be surprised if you decided to spectate the show live in the arena just to get your mind going for anything to arrange notes on the scale.
“Whatever gets you to start playing again.” Karambit mused, a knowing smirk soon gracing his face, “Maybe you might even get a glimpse of you know who—”
“Bit, I swear! STOP!” and he just exhaled a laugh at your flushed face that you tried to hide with your hands. Mumbling curses directed to the inphernal across from you. “...wasn’t…really hoping for it…” you slouched back.
“Mhm…but you were hoping…” a knowing gaze remained on you before he leaned forward, arms on the table. “Just, don’t get too deep in your admiration. The next thing I know is you're composing a new arrangement based on him.”
“...composing a new arrangement based on him.”
Those exact words echoed in your mind. Even after dinner and the dishes were washed and dried. Even after you stepped out of the shower, dried up, changed into your sleeping wear, then brushed your teeth. Even after you settled for the night and are now staring at the ceiling did ‘Bit’s words repeat itself like a song stuck on replay.
And you couldn’t really argue with him about it. Not when you had considered it many times before. Not when you actually have an unfinished musical sheet with scribbles of healing aura lines and the familiar crystal on the sides of the paper.
But that was it. Unfinished. Still on hold. Something that you had regretted sharing with the small fanbase that you and Karambit had actually gathered with your music. They were so excited about it too! Hoping to hear it in one of the pieces your duo would play. And that was a year ago. You still couldn’t find the push to continue the piece.
Even after you accidentally caught glimpses of him in person when you were just exploring Crossroads. Even when you felt your heart thundering through your chest, and heat crept to your face as you quickly willed yourself to go the other way, you still could not will yourself to finish it. And it sucks!
A resigned sigh is all you gave as you pushed the thought of the unfinished piece aside, giving way to what you’ll actually do tomorrow that would be productive for your artist’s block. People-watching, trying out new food, sightseeing new attractions…anything that would give you the inspiration to write something as heartfelt as the last one performed.
The recent music published, Karambit’s arrangement, was something he managed to write after one month of training with his gear. The sight of him coming home one day, sweaty, bruised and soiled, just to go straight to his room and lock himself there before the sound of strumming emanated from it. Which resulted in the bone-chilling arrangement he’d made as if urging you to never give up as both your violin and guitar amped in intensity, reflecting what he had pondered on in his training, to keep fighting, to keep going no matter what with that fire still burning inside of you.
That was the thing about the both of you; to write music from what you have experienced, what you felt, what you thought, what you saw, smelt, tasted and heard. All those senses that would seem insignificant when it came to anything else, but always held importance when it came to the both of you composing your music.
You exhaled, slower this time as you rolled on your side. Willing yourself to sleep and just hope that those senses will help you bring out an idea for a new piece.
Tomorrow arrived, and you were already on the train heading for Crossroads. The train was not so full yet at this hour as you found a seat near by the windows.
Bag full of necessities and your violin bag slinged across your back as you watched the scenery of greens and blues that you’ve come to love after years of being cradled within its care gradually shift to the wide expanse of the grand river and endless skies bathe in specks of gold with the sky shifting to dark purple to violet and pink. And not long after, buildings and architectures scraped the yellow and lavender hues of the heavens.
“Arriving at the first stop. Crossroads, station 3.” The intercoms came to life.
The wheels grating on the tracks as the train slowed down and an obnoxious horn blared through the station signaled the passengers that it’s now safe to get off the train as the doors slid open to allow exit and entry of inphernals.
You hopped off the train and gazed at the sight before you. Crowded. And you wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Alright, Crossroads,” taking a deep breath, you smiled, “surprise me like you always do.”
Vibrant colors of new shops that had opened since the last visit. Neon signs that no doubt would flash striking colors to get anyone’s attention when nighttime comes. All those shops that managed to rent out a building hoping they would be able to earn more than what they paid for. You could choose to visit them…
Oh! But they won’t go anywhere! Your priority for the day was…
“Hurry up, man! Before the line gets longer!” a young inphernal pulled at what seemed to be his friend who was moreso being dragged with how he tried and failed to match the excited one’s speed.
Crossing the road after emerging from the district of colorful stores, you safely stood at the side of the road. Gazing at the area where you’re first heading.
A crowd had already gathered at the parking space beside the park, with lines upon lines of inphernals waiting at the food truck that they wanted to buy food from. And as if the sight of food wasn’t enough, the breeze carried to your direction the mouthwatering scent of roasted beef, fried calamares, sizzling rice and spices galore!
A smile appeared on your face as you began to get in line for one of the food.
Yep! No doubt. First priority of the day.
Waiting in line, you looked around the crowd. Inphernals minding their own business. seated under the umbrella. Some still in line. Others heading to the park. Leaning on a lampost or on the park fence. Some of them were just content, standing as they ate their food.
Chatters are heard overlapping the others. Leaning in to hear the other better or just making it louder for the other to hear. Conversations that never reached your ears as you just bask in the lively place you found yourself in. Stepping forward for every time the line moves.
The scent of food still lingering in the air and the heat of the day soon began, prompting those concerned to open their umbrellas when they couldn’t find a shade. You just fixed your bucket hat on you as you glanced around again after looking where you were in line
Observing again as you wait for your turn. Your brows raising for a bit as you realized how it was rare to see an inphernal on their own. There’s barely anyone on their own.
Groups of inphernals claimed the seats set up by the food truck owners. Another bunch of inphernals gathered around as they enjoyed their fruity shakes. There were inphernals in pairs as well, standing side by side or just chatting away as they walk towards the park. Even those ordering in line, once their orders were being taken, their friends would soon butt in ordering what they want as the one who went in line for them repeats the order to the one in-charge of taking their orders.
You weren’t supposed to be surprised. Given the chance, you would have invited Karambit to join you in your city adventure. But alas, he had to busy himself preparing for your show with Uncle…and whenever that may be.
But it would’ve been nice to have someone by your side…
“Next!”
You weren’t given the opportunity to reflect on it as the inphernal in front of you now left with their companion and their food in hand, and the one in-charge of the register smiled kindly at you as they leaned on the counter.
“What can I get you, sugar?” She smiled at you with pen and paper ready to fill in your order.
A smile crept on your lips once again as you squint at the menu on top of the window counter. Reflecting can wait, first you have to get something to eat!
Taking a peak of your food in your paper bag, the mouth-watering scent of shawarma burger, onion rings and chicken tenders soon embraced you as you walked through the arc of the park. Leaving behind the chatter and warmth of the food trucks and umbrella chairs.
The central park, though not the park you were aiming to visit, was just the place for you to lay back for a bit for an early lunch. It was one of the places that held the calming sight of greeneries that you came to love. How it so easily calls forth the cool breeze that counters the heat of the sun now reaching high in the sky.
A seat under the shade of a lush tree is just what you need as you sat on the bench on the other side of the tree, looking away from the cobblestone path of the park. Setting down your slingbag and violin case, you took out your thermos of lemon green tea. Unscrewing the lid and pouring some of the warm drink on the cup-like lid before drinking and heaving a sigh of satisfaction.
All was tranquil. Just the distant chatter from groups of inphernals, the singing of birds amongst the tree, gentle sway of the leaves to the breeze…the kind of peace that’s only nestled within the city…peace that, despite the distant noise of cars and trains and chatters, oddly fits in this neutral place.
The calmness of where you are further soothed as you set aside your tea before savoring your first bite on your fastfood. The buns and veggies bringing out the taste of beef and tangy condiments. Juicy and flavorful, a satisfied groan rumbled within your chest as you took another bite, not minding how messy it is as some bits of chopped meat and dripping sauce were caught on the food carton.
It was still warm, like a comforting embrace…you might have a new comfort food after this. Maybe even try making it yourself when you get the chance.
Tidying your greasy fingers with the provided napkin, you grabbed your cup of tea again to wash down the oil but paused mid-sip as your eyes glanced at your violin case.
It’s too…early for that…
You took a long sip of your tea, another sigh leaving your lips as you looked up and took in your surroundings.
Some people were making the most of the natural shade of the trees. Sleeping underneath it, reading, drawing and just chatting with their companions. Those who enjoyed the warm embrace of the sun were running around passing the ball with a kick, while some were having their photos taken and the photographer just going all out with the different angles they’re trying to take. It looked silly, making you smile as you placed your cup down before leaning back on the bench.
Eyes soft, gazing at the natural canopy above. Small streaks of sunlight finding their way through the gaps between branches and leaves. Some birds, undisturbed, as they hopped on the branches, chirping and singing. Then a gust of wind passed by. Cool and refreshing.
“This is nice.” you hummed as a relaxed smile appeared on you. Fingers finding their way to the rest of your food, bringing a piece of chicken tender to your mouth. Crunchy, then soft, just the right saltiness.
As you kept eating the rest of your food while still observing the underside of the tree’s branches, an adorable sight tugged on your heart strings.
A pair of birds landed on the same branch with the group of birds. Chirping. Communicating. Before one of the birds came, hopping to one of the birds of the group, bowing and perking up in quick succession before puffing up its feathers. While the other one met it halfway, tilting its head as if examining it, before it hopped to its side and stayed there, prompting the fluffed bird to settle beside it.
“Huh. Cute.” You exhaled with a quiet chuckle, eyes drooping.
You kept observing the feathered creatures and thought back to the times…many times that you’ve caught sight of hi–
“Hold up–” you sat yourself up abruptly as your mind almost played a trick on you. Almost.
Not wanting to linger on that, you took a deep breath and just chugged down your tea. The warmth of it soothing you from the inside out as you exhale. Satisfied.
“Welp–” you stretched your arms, placed your empty food box in the paper bag and screwed back the cup-like lid of your thermos before placing it back in your bag, wore it, before wearing the violin case and standing up. “Time to check what I came here for!”
Rust colored brick path. Walls of concrete covered in muted paint colors of blue, orange and yellow. Signs of old yet restored to look like it hadn’t seen the passage of time. That’s what your eyes have gazed at the moment the city streets slowly faded into something left behind by the past.
Where horses and carriage and bikes are the means of transportation, other than your own feet. Where people are in no rush to get to where they needed to be as some have sat on the benches lined beside the brick path. Where the center of attraction is not their cellular devices, or high rise billboards, or flashy signs.
No.
The crashing sound of water spraying upward as gravity pulled chunks of it. Crashing and splashing as it cascades down three layers of water filled flat-bowls, creating curtains of water as it overflows to each level before it falls to the catch basin of the fountain. Off-white in color and simply sculptured designs decorate it. The sun’s rays reflecting off of the clear water, as if to say that this was the center of this place’s attraction.
Rightfully so, as not just the look was stunning, the sound of water hitting water had its own calming effect; white noise.
Pairs and groups gathered at the benches catered around the fountain as you stood in front of it. Eyes shining in awe as you smiled softly at the sight.
It really is better in person…
“Erm, excuse me?” a timid voice pulls you from your thoughts as you turn to where the voice came from.
On your right was a young inphernal, almost reaching your shoulders tall, and had the most hopeful look in her eyes.
Giving her a smile and a nod, you beamed, “Oh, hey there! Is there something I can help you with?” you tilt your head to the side, and her eyes sparkled all the more as she glanced at something behind you before looking back at you.
Oh. Well, I guess now is a good time.
You giggled at her quiet request as you pulled to your front your violin case. “You’re going to have to speak up, kid, since I don’t read minds.” you lightly teased, and her face practically lit up and hands clasped in front of her.
“Yes, I…could you play one of your masterpieces?”
Crouching down to unlock your case and bring out your violin, you gently stood up with a small smirk and glimmer of passion in your eyes as you positioned your instrument to rest between your shoulder and chin.
“Oh well, there’s so many to choose from!” you giggled. The teasing flare to your tone still present. “But…I think I know which one you’d like.”
And with the fluid movement of your shoulder and fingers already on the string, you began playing your trusty violin.
Beginning with a marching vibe with the quick sliding of your bow on the string, painting the image of two friends growing up. The playful tap and slide on the strings bringing life to the world of mischief, before slowly increasing in slide than tap. Still upbeat and casual as the two friends, from child to teens, have begun learning about the real world.
As you kept playing, swept to your world of music, a crowd started to form. Eyes stared in amazement as they let their ears soak in the calm yet energizing sound of your playing. And just when you reach the pinnacle of your performance; more slides on the string and the sound rich and vibrant yet holding more meaning to it, akin to a deeper understanding of the other, pairs start gathering in the middle.
The brave ones pulling their partners to dance with them, even if it was just them spinning the other around with their arms interlocked. And soon, groups of threes and more joined in. Just enjoying the welcoming and relatable vibe of your music. Laughing and playfully pushing the other as the crowd continued to watch and listen to the camaraderie.
You opened your eyes to glance at the commotion that you’ve conjured up by playing one of your nostalgic arrangements. The sight of the crowd enjoying and just having a good time as they dance to you playing with your violin?
Your relaxed features soon grew a satisfied smile. Eyes trailing to those who were dancing, to those who were brave enough to dance with another. Even the young inphernal who requested for you was enjoying herself with someone. All smiles and giddy.
A familiar sight. One that you were quite familiar with as your eyes softened to reminisce on the fact that despite your admiration for a certain inphernal…you would not have the courage to even walk the same way he came…
You closed your eyes again. Allowing yourself to be swallowed by your thoughts as you begin to transition into a new arrangement. One that was more casual, relaxing. Something more fitting to the afternoon that was slowly rolling by. More fitting to the feeling of contentment as the golden lights reflected unto the cascading water of the fountain.
After a few more music plays on your violin…
After thanking the crowd for their hearty participation and for making your experience at the slice of old time town worth returning to…
After packing your instrument back in its case…
You now find yourself leaning unto the railings near one of the bridges leading to a faction. The height to where the city of Crossroads was built flying over your head as you reflected on the day you’ve spent.
A gentle breeze; once refreshing, only gives faux comfort as the cool feel embraces you.
You almost had it.
Almost got that push of inspiration to arrange a new music to play for the next show you would be doing with Karambit…whenever that would be.
And now…you’re stuck again. A sharp exhale leaving your lips as you gazed down at the long drop to the waters beneath the city. Hands wiping up your face before smoothing your horns. Tracing its shape as you try to relax.
“...I’m so lost right now…” you chuckled, feeling sorry for yourself. “But…I had fun though…” you rest your cheek on your hand as you propped your elbow on the rails. "There's always tomorrow to try again."
The sun soon threatened to set, as the sky began painting into soft hues of orange, peach and pink, even dusting the clouds that managed to roll in.
You gaze at the changing heavens. Reflecting on how fun your day has been despite the lack of creative composition.
Sigh…
Turning your back to the view, you began to walk towards the bus stop, knowing the trains would be full during this time with all the inphernals coming and leaving.
Reaching the waiting shed by the bus stop, you sat down and wait for the bus heading to Thieves’ Den. Eyes gazing at each inphernal that peak your interest. People-watching as they say.
One bus screech to a stop before the doors open with a hiss. As expected, inphernals of all sizes poured out. Some having unique horns, others having fancy things wrapped between them, and some were just bright in particular. One of them even had a lovely crystal floating between them.
…wait…
It was too late. Your eyes had already locked themselves on the figure stepping down from the bus. His teal, antler-like horns gleaming in an ethereal glow along with his same colored crystal, nestled between his horns. Secure.
Your gaze trailed to his face. And swords forbid that you take a breath lest he disappears into the crowd as you stare in awe at his sharp and strict features that are now softened by the sunset.
Warm and breathtaking.
It didn’t help that it seemed like everything was moving in slow motion as his tired eye met with your awestruck ones. The warmth that crept to your cheeks had long made itself known, but you were too focused on the very center of your admiration.
Medkit…
At first, it didn’t seem like he noticed you when he looked your way…until he finally saw you, and his brow furrowed, as if questioning you.
If your eyes could be wider, it would’ve done so with how surprised you were with his sudden intense stare, making your heart threaten to burst out of your chest as you now broke eye contact. The longest eye contact you’ve had with him since the many times you’ve…caught him in public…and the only contact the two of you had.
A glimpse of shining teal horns amidst a sea of inphernals filing out of the train when you were about to board prompted you to quickly go the other way. Basically just exited the terminal and just took a bus ride home.
Or the sound of his voice; deep and uninterested, filtered in by your ears as you set aside the chatters of those around you when you were window shopping. Turning away before you could even see him.
Suddenly feeling self-aware, you bow your head a bit and scratch your cheek. Then, out of nowhere, everything that you have done for the day; from the moment you arrived up to now, flashed before your eyes as faint arrangements of notes on scales and how the sound began to appear.
And slowly…ever so slowly…you looked up, hoping to see him again. The imaginary violin in your mind playing the familiar arrangements you made…
About him…
The bus leaving after the passengers have left was all you saw before another bus stopped, the conductor yelling its destination “Thieves’ Den”. And your imaginary music concludes with a soft and comforting fade akin to longing.
Wait. Wait, wait, waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait–
Your lips part before closing again as determination now replaced your shock.
You have it.
YOU FINALLY HAVE IT!
It all happened in a blur. First, you were getting on the bus, the next, you dashed through the front door, to your room, and quickly scrawled on the empty music sheet before taking your violin out of the case.
Karambit could only shake his head fondly at your reaction. Knowing that the both of you almost have the same response when an epiphany is revealed. And soon enough he could hear the faint sound of your violin.
Closing the pot after stirring it, he dialed in the number, ringing once, before a deeper voice answered.
“Karambit? Is something wrong, boy?” the older inphernal inquired. Concerned. Before it held a hint of exasperation as he said, “Or are you going to argue about security for the next show again?”
Whatever he and Karambit talked about earlier must have been exhausting…for the older one, at least. Karambit didn’t even seem phased by this as he checked on the stew. “We’ll talk more about that some other time, Uncle.” he answered coolly before adding, “I just want you to mark a date two months from now regarding when the show will be.”
He could see the elderly raising his brow. “I see… I take Y/N is out of their…creative stagnation?”
“Yeah. We’ll update later on the final date.”
A huff of a laugh was heard before replying with much contained excitement. “Finally! To see the both of you in action after so long!”
“Mhm, sure. Now worry about the venue reservation, old man.” and a richer, deeper laugh erupts from the other side before coughing and agreeing at Karambit, then he hangs up.
His gaze drifted up the stairs to where the bedrooms were. Now all he had to do was wait for you to finish your composition, contribute his own arrangements, and talk about the next show. And part of him was…curious. What story will you tell in your music this time?
It’s been two days since you started your new composition. Cooped up in your room as you write down the notes on the scales and then trying it out on your violin. Only leaving your room to go to the bathroom, to drink water and to eat, which Karambit had already expected.
By afternoon, you had finalized your piece as you made sure the transition to the new arrangement would fit well to the old one you made. Trying it out one last time before heaving a chuckle of content. Holding the pages of song sheets as you laid back in bed.
“It’s finally done…” you whispered, closing your eyes and having relief wash over you after coming out with something you were proud of. All you need now was your best friend’s feedback and you could help him with his part.
A patterned knock pulled you from your thoughts. Sitting back up when you called for him to come in, and sure enough, your boardmate peeked his head through the small crack of the door he made. Eyes lazy as he stared at you. “Dinner’s ready.” he mused, before blinking at you and his eyes widening for a fraction at the sight of your bright demeanor clutching the song sheets in your hand.
“You’ve done it.” a statement more than a question as your smile widened. And he just smiled, opening the door wide as he steps aside. “You want me to listen to it now or after dinner?”
You hopped off your bed and took your violin with you as you skipped out of your room. The weight of finishing something lifting off of you. “Maybe I can play a few notes.” you say over your shoulder just as he closed your bedroom door.
“Can’t wait to hear it.” he mused, following behind.
After dinner with your musical partner, telling him about some parts of the piece, and quickly washing the dishes, you soon find yourselves in the living room.
You had already played to him your composition and Karambit was more than happy to say that there is nothing else that needs changing. All he needed to do now was make his arrangements to better harmonize with your violin.
He took his acoustic guitar and gently cradled it before reaching for his pencil and empty song sheet to start plotting some notes. “So, first thing’s first…” he looked into your eyes. “What inspired you to write this?”
Taking a deep breath, Karambit knew this was going to be a long one.
After telling him the events of the day you visited Crossroads, and struggling to finish it near the end because you happened to actually keep eye contact with the phighter that you had long admired!
Even just the thought of him was enough to turn you into a stuttering, blushing mess as you finally end your story. A teasing gaze evident in the eyes of your companion as you quickly avert your eyes.
“So…you did see him.” he repeats, “and you did compose a piece for him.” and that only deepened the shade of red that was already adorning your face.
“Can—can we just—just start brainstorming?” you asked. A weak attempt of stirring the subject to somewhere else. But with him being part of your composition, there’s really no ignoring it.
Rolling his eyes, a small smile appeared on his lips. Amused at your reaction, but complied, nonetheless. “Alright, so I’m suggesting there’ll be more strumming than plucking on this part, right here.” he points to where you started playing your time at the food truck to the park.
You pondered on it. Holding both hands to rest under your nose. “Give me a sample.”
“Alright.” he readied his guitar, testing its sound before turning back to you. “After you.”
And with his permission, you began playing your violin. Starting off like a casual stroll with a bit of bounce to it. And soon, Karambit followed suit with the same playful strumming. Changing in key to better harmonize with your instrument.
When it neared to when you went to the park, his strumming changed to a more calm, jazzy strumming as you continued your lively tune, before pausing to give more emphasis to his sounds, and then jumping in with a more casual tempo of your violin; like a relaxing day at the park and basking in the warmth of the sun.
Then when it was the time when you visited the town of old, he let you continue as you further slowed down your tempo; reminiscing on the walk down the brick path as life resonated wherever you went even in its worn down state.
After a few notes, he joined in with more timed plucks instead of strums. Making the melody of the violin pop as he supports you to an extent. Nearing the portion where you would let yourself free to play a request, Karambit began to frequent and amp up his plucking before turning it into strumming. As if relieving the very feel of contentment and joy in that moment of public interaction.
Feeling it near the end, he began slowly transitioning to plucks and beating the guitar body as you let each note linger. Prolonged. Like a rest after leaving the excitement. And this calm mood continues until they abruptly stop. Like how you held your breath when your gaze landed on him.
Easing your notes in. Slowly, but sure, as your partner does the same with his plucking before amping it up to strumming as you also increase in intensity. How the world seemed to have allowed that short window of moment to bask in each other’s company despite being strangers. As if there was an unspoken truth that’s yet to be revealed. And until that truth is brought to light, you’re content to just admire him from afar.
The violin and guitar end with a positive tone once they’ve reached the end of the piece. None of them dared to make any noise after a few beats, and then Karambit first broke the silence, massaging the space between his eyebrows.
“We were playing too fast…” he sighed, “I wasn’t able to write the rest of the notes down.” to this, you exhaled a laugh.
“Yeah, sure. Like that ever stopped you from remembering what notes you played.”
“Still, though,” a soft smile graced his often neutral face, “would’ve been nice to have the notes just dance their way into the sheets.”
“So you wouldn’t have to write it down?”
“In my defense…that first try was already good.” he tilts his head towards you, as if willing you to agree. Which, in all honesty…it was really good.
“I’m sure you can remember them.” you pat his shoulder, reassuring him. “You’ve always had better memory than me.”
“Mhm…you’re still helping me remember them though.”
“Ugh…” you slouched on the couch, wanting to have a decent sleep now that you’ve finished the composition of your new music. “If you say so…”
A small smirk appeared on your best friend’s face when he realized he had won the argument.
This is going to be a long night…
But at least it’s almost done.
After a week of finalizing the arrangements of your new piece, Uncle had waltzed over to yours and Karambit’s shared home to speak of matters that are important…the long awaited show.
You and your partner have already decided to have it on a Saturday afternoon. To consider those who have work on the weekdays and to consider their time of going home before nightfall…mostly for those that would be coming from Thieves’ Den, which Uncle had already agreed to.
Three steaming cups of lemon green tea were placed on the dinner table before you gave each one their cups, earning “thank you” from both, and taking yours before sitting down.
“With the time and day decided, we need an actual date.” Uncle folds his hand under his nose after taking a sip of his tea. “Two months from now, right?”
“Yeah.” Karambit added, “Did you already reserve a venue at Crossroads, old man?” you took a sip of your tea. Turning to Uncle as he took out his phone.
“We’re playing at Crossroads?” you raised your brows at him, to which he gave a nod.
“Last show brought more fans than we anticipated.” Uncle smiled, taking a drink from his tea. “So it’s only fair that we anticipate that as well in your concert at Crossroads. Who knows, maybe there’s a hundred more that are able to attend now that it’s held at the heart of Inpherno.” You nod along at his statement.
“Alright.” You spoke, “but where exactly in Crossroads?”
Uncle chuckled at that, “I thought you’d never ask, Y/N.” earning a skeptical brow raise from Karambit. “Located near the center of Crossroads, one of the first theaters ever built…Donne Tout.”
The two musicians blinked at him like that would further explain what that place is…before it clicked.
“Wait–” your partner was first to react, leaning on the table. “Donne Tout Theaters?” a nod from the elderly. “The very one where The Flipside first made their debut before being discovered all over inpherno? That Donne Tout Theaters???”
“Wait…for real?” you asked. Though you already knew the answer.
Your partner was practically standing and leaning over the table as he bore his gaze unto the old inphernal. A glimmer of disbelief and a bit of awe.
“Yes. Yes. and…yes.” he chuckled at the look of you two. “The owner was more than happy to cater your concert after I showed her a video of your performance.”
A pause. Then–
“That’s so cool!” you cheered, leaning back as you stretched your arms in front of you. “But now I’m feeling a little nervous.” The very feeling of Karambit right now as he remained quiet. Eyes gazing far, yet still tuning in to their conversation.
“Don’t be.” Uncle waved his hand, as if to dismiss their rising anxiety. His tone turned soft. “You two will do well, I’m sure of it.” giving them a smile of encouragement. “Just be who you are whenever you start playing your instruments. Doesn’t matter what the owner will think, or what the others will think. What matters is what you think as you share your story through your music.”
Taking a sip from his tea, he added. “Expectations are always made for every time you would perform…yet that never stopped you two from reaching your goal of sharing your music. And that shouldn’t stop you now.”
By now, Karambit had returned from his seat. Staring at his tea while you glanced at him and offered him a pat at the back.
With a deep breath, he cracked a smile. Gaze not leaving his tea. “Thanks. Who knew you could encourage us like that.” He took a sip of his tea, letting the tension from his shoulders dissipate with the warmth it provides.
“Alright! We’re getting a bit sidetracked here.” you clapped your hands together. “We need a date.” and the two perked up as you suggested. “How about third Saturday?”
A pause as they pondered. Then Karambit nods. “Seems fine by me. Leaves us with two months and a week to prepare.”
And Uncle smiled. “Third Saturday it is then.” he brought his phone out to note it in his calendar. “We’ll need to start planning on the theme of your costumes. Maybe add in a meet and greet before the show as well.”
“Meet and greet?” you mused. Uncle nods.
“In person interactions with your fans. For you to get to know them and them to get to know you. Makes for loyal fans.”
“Sounds good.”
“Sounds like a lot of work, to be honest.” Your partner chimed in.
“Aww, come on! It’ll be fun!”
At that, Karambit looked at you. Really looked at you and you just offered him a smile. Then, after a few more beats, he said. “I’d like to see you do that when he suddenly appears.”
In no time, the implication had made your face warm, while he just smirked.
“Oh ho ho ho!” Uncle soon butts in. Curiosity winning him over. “Who is this ‘he’?” he leaned over the table.
“It’s—it’s no—no one. No one.” eyes not meeting theirs as you scratched your cheek. Then a mumble about him probably not even listening to your music.
Oh, but your best friend entertained the old guardian. “I won’t spoil it, old man. But…he may be part of the new music. Storywise, at le—.”
“‘Bit!” you cut him off, but was quickly continued by Uncle’s question.
“Oh? That’s no small thing.” he glanced at you, and surely enough you were a blushing mess. Face already hidden behind your hands. But he still pressed on. “So…who’s the lucky inphernal?”
“It’s no one…” you mumbled, but was ultimately ignored.
Karambit chuckled. “Someone who they barely could talk to.” Uncle quirked a brow at that. “Someone from the hit show, Phighting.” to which the old inphernal gave a nod of understanding before leaning back.
“Alrighty then. I won’t pry no more.” he said. Voice devoid of any teasing, to which you were grateful for.
He cleared his throat and leaned on the table again with his arms crossed on the table. “Let’s go over the plans and details of the show, shall we?”
Two months and a week of preparation had finally led to this moment…
The stage was already set. Decorated with faux cherry blossom blooms and the lightings tested to change colors depending on the atmosphere. The main area, as lovely as a medium sized theater can be, was prepared and spotless; velvet seats and pristine floors ready to receive those who would be watching the show.
Outside the main theater were arrays of booths with souvenirs of the duo, Kintsugi Duo, ranging from CD albums, keychains, t-shirts with prints of your posters over the course of your shows, posters, there were even pastries surrounding your themes, and a flower shop complete with flower arrangements in the same theme.
In the same lobby, there was also an area where inphernals can take their pictures. A photo booth, with a lovely background of cherry blossom trees with a rust colored, worn path covered in its petals, and potted plastic plants of the same tree in the foreground. A photographer waiting beside it with an array of props in the box beside him.
Outside the theater, a large poster of you and Karambit in your respective kimonos for the event; standing back to back with sakura blossoms drifting in the background. The duo name plastered at the bottom, and just below it was the date; which was today, and the time of the actual performance; which would be 1PM, this afternoon.
It’s only been 8AM, and numbers of inphernals were already checking out the booths and taking souvenir photos in the photobooth. While others have already entered the main hall to reserve their seats.
But where were you and your partner?
Somewhere, where a guard is stationed outside a door was a separate room big enough to accommodate around fifty inphernals, were you and Karambit, seated behind a long table. Posters stacked beside each of you and a marker.
Already clad in your face paints; red paint on your cheeks and beside your eye while he had blue paint down his forehead, up his chin and just below the corners of his eyes, and kimonos of red and white for you while blue and black for your best friend.
Uncle had left you two for a while to start ushering in fans who would like to meet and greet you two. And not long after, Uncle had arrived and ushered in inphernals, who had their tickets checked on by the guard, in groups as they line up for a quick chat, QnA, autograph, gift giving or a picture with the duo. It was both stressful and fulfilling.
And after what seemed to be the last one, they finally took a breather. Gulp of water, bathroom break and a bit stretching here and there. When they checked the time, it was already 11:18AM. A few more minutes before lunch, and then it’s show time.
“Still think that was fun?” Karambit broke the silence as he capped his water bottle. You just scoffed. A smile adorning your painted face.
“I’m still smiling here, aren’t I?” you rest your elbow on the table, turning to him as you rest your chin on your hand. “And how are you holding up?”
“I’m still here, aren’t I?” he threw your answer right back at you as a rare smirk played on his lips. “But seriously, we should be resting before the show.” his face soon turned to his neutral one with a hint of concern.
And you just waved your hand at him. “We’ve got lunch for that.”
“That’s not enough time.”
“Well, it’s a good thing there’s no more fans to meet and—”
“Let me see your tickets, please?” the guard asked. Strict yet polite, to the newcomers from out their door.
You spoke too soon.
“Oh! Okay!” a younger, more youthful, and oddly familiar voice replied. “Wait! It’s somewhere around here–” he reinforced, until another voice cut him off.
“Here.” it was just one word uttered with non-chalance and a hint of annoyance.
Just one word with that voice that you knew all too well.
One word. Just enough to bring more color and warmth to your face as you stared at the door and listened to the on-going checking of the guard before he let them in.
Before you get to see him.
“Uhm..” you stood up, now nervous. “I think I need to see the comfort room.” you chuckled. Too forced to be nothing. “I’ll be right back.” you aimed to quickly get to the backdoor. That was until you were kept from moving further with your kimono sleeve being firmly held unto.
“I think it's best if you see this through.” Karambit coolly replied. Not even sparing you a glance as he knew. He already knew how you would react the moment he heard Medkit’s voice. Didn’t need to know how you’ve turned from a cool and teasing character, to a blushing, nervous mess that can’t even sit still to see the very inphernal you admired.
And you knew that he knew. And that thought didn’t help. “‘Bit, please…” you plead. The red face-paint on your cheeks and beside your eyes seemed non-existent with how red your face had turned into. “I can’t…I just…I mean, you can– you can handle them…”
“Yes, but they’re still fans who paid the tickets for the show and meet and greet us before we perform.” he tugged on your sleeve lightly. Pulling you back to sit down. “Just…try to relax and not avoid him this time.” he tried to reassure you.
But before you could decide whether to listen or just bail, the sound of Uncle’s booming voice cut through your muddled mind. Only realizing that there’s other figures now inside the room. And one of those figures had a floating, teal crystal and antler-shaped horns.
Annoyed eye met with your bewildered ones after Uncle and the guard ushered them in. And it was like time stopped for you.
A blessing or a curse? You didn’t know for sure. What you did know was how stunning he looked at just a few feet apart. Not a big crowd apart, or behind the screen apart! A few feet apart with just the table and the air between them setting the both of you apart.
Chatter was heard, but it was all distant as you basked in Medkit wearing his casual wear of black turtleneck, brown blazers and khaki trousers with dress shoes. His unmistakable horn ring on the second branch of his right horn and his black eyepatch with gold linings on the cloth covering his eye.
In that moment…it was just him…you…and the hand on your shoulder…
Wait, what?
“They’re the last pair to come. And just in time too before your lunch break.” he chuckled and you felt him squeeze your shoulder as if to comfort you. Ground you from your flustered state as you finally sit down. “Their break will be…in a few minutes. So–” he looked at everyone in the room before flashing a friendly smile, “I’ll just come by and say when they’ll need to prepare now, so don’t worry about it.”
You had resorted to looking at your lap as you scratched your cheek, still shy and not trusting your voice to answer, so you gave him a nod, with Karambit just answering him dismissively.
Sword beamed, “Yes, sir. We’re grateful for this opportunity!” he bowed lightly. Excitement barely contained as he stood in front of his favorite duo. But Medkit didn’t seem to agree on his friend’s statement as he lazily observed the two artists behind the table. Squinting as if remembering something as his eye glanced back at you.
They seem…familiar…
Medkit eyed you before looking at Sword. The very inphernal who dragged him into this. The manager, he assumed, had already left after trying to lighten up the atmosphere.
Seems to be working though as Sword began to ramble on as he gazed at him from the corner of his eye.
“I can’t believe I get to meet you two in person!” he was practically bouncing in excitement. “The Kintsugi Duo! I’m a huge fan!” he squealed, earning an amused smile from them…and you seemed to have recovered from…whatever trance you were in.
Have I seen them before…?
“Well–” he snapped back to reality as he heard you speak. Demanding, yet not forcing. Loud, but not ear grating. “It’s always a treat to greet sweet fans such as you.” you smiled. Confident. Devoid of that shyness he witnessed earlier.
Strange…
“I’m actually surprised that well known phighters such as you guys have discovered little ol’ us.” you leaned over the table. Eyes shining with something like awe.
“It’s quite an honor, actually.” Your partner soon chimed in.
“Are you kidding!” Sword gestured wildly with his hands. Medkit just rolled his eye. “You guys– you guys— you guys have the most inspiring music ever!” Eyes sparkling, “Even without words!” he raised his arms in the air. “And that’s saying something!”
Medkit couldn’t help the scoff that left his lips. Which was the biggest mistake he made as Sword soon dragged him into his appreciation as he pulled him to his side by his shoulder.
“Heck! Even Medkit here fell in love with your music,” he gestured to him, now with furrowed brows, “for someone who rarely listens to anything else besides classical music.” oblivious to how he’s embarrassing his stoic friend as a dust of pink graced his pale face.
Medkit grunts and pushes himself away from his grip. “You’re exaggerating.” He glared at him. Crossing his arms over his chest as he avoids eye contact. Willing the warmth on his face to dissipate.
“Okay, maybe not love, but he did start listening to your music more after hearing one of your compositions. You know! The one that goes–” he tried to mimic the tune of your music. And sure enough it held a familiar beat; one he had to roll his eye at to resist berating him to do it justice, much to Medkit’s annoyance. He couldn’t deny it though that he appreciated the violin play at that one. Soothing. Like a warm shower raining down his aching muscles.
But then a genuine smile; a far cry from your confident bravado, graced your features. Something he caught at the corner of his eye. Another reason for him to hide his expression and ignore the peculiar stirring in his stomach.
“Oh, and uh, your latest album…” Sword looked through his satchel before taking out a CD case and holding it with both hands over his heart. “Could you please?” he pleads, like a puppy asking for treats.
“Awwww, so cute!” you cooed as you reached over the table for the item, making Sword light up like he wasn’t already beaming. “How could we say no to that? Right ‘Bit?” you elbowed your partner before signing the front of the CD case with all your heart and then passing it to your partner.
“Exactly. Now, why won’t you ask his friend if he wants anything out of this besides just standing there like he's just babysitting Sword.” he coolly replied as he took the CD and began writing on it, before being handed another one by Sword who didn't mind his comment.
Technically, it was true. Being dragged here to join him in watching your performance as if babysitting him. Even though he bought the tickets as his birthday gift; buying two so he can invite Rocket, or someone else to this show. But of course, brotherly love got him tagging along because apparently, “What better way to spend my gift with my bestest friend!” Sword’s words, not his. ‘Bestest’ isn't even supposed to be a word.
And he'd be lying if he didn't actually want to be here. Suppose it's to finally see you two in person as opposed to just watching behind the screen. To witness the flawless confidence the two of you exude. But he noticed…
You’ve remained speechless after that. Again. Glancing at Medkit and quickly looking away. It would have been a peculiar sight if it weren’t for the fact that he was curious about your sudden change in character…again.
“So uh…” you were playing with the marker before taking the CD your friend slid to you to sign. Eyes not meeting his…but you still tried to talk to him. “Med–Medkit…right?” he squints at you, “One of—of the supports in Phighting.” it sounded more like a question than a statement…but he replied.
“That’s me. Yes.” short and blunt. No beating around the bush as he pondered on whether to say anymore when it seemed you had nothing else to say.
“Cool, cool…” you just mumbled, staring at the CD cover before signing it. “...I…I’m actually…a fan…”
He just stared at you. Observing you. Trying to put two and two together…were you actually shy because you were a fan of his?
…
Huh. Never in his life…
And before he could stop himself, his words already left his lips. “I’m also a fan…of yours, and…” he started, “we came here to appreciate you and your partner’s music...in person.” It was honest, but with his tired tone…it sounded harsh, maybe even sarcastic. But it did make you look up to meet his gaze.
“You play beautifully with your violin. Almost seems like it’s narrating of sorts.” he paused, before heaving a sigh. Mostly for himself as he pushed his words out his mouth. “And…I like how you tell a story with it.” he averts his eye when he feels his cheeks grow warm. Willing them again to fade away before looking back at you. Why was he even saying this?
Your lips parted before closing again…eyes wide in wonder and maybe…just maybe…a bit of awe…
Wait…why am I hoping for that?
“I…” you sighed, “thank you…” you smiled. Small, yet you did. And you smiled at him. Something he wasn’t expecting. Something he never dreamed of when he reluctantly tagged along.
Another pause. Holding the CD in hand before sliding it towards him, you spoke again and still maintained eye contact, “We’ll be…performing a new piece…” his eye widened for a fraction, because why are you telling him—them this? They already knew. So why?
“I hope you’ll appreciate it…just as much as the first ones. But uh— no pressure though! Just uh— y’know…” It was all gibberish after that as you stuttered and mashed words together. Just a repeat of “Hoping you’d appreciate the music” from what he could catch.
Medkit wasn’t sure what was going on, and he’s not even sure why he was acting just as weird as you…maybe not as weird as you…but he knows. Because it’s not often that he finds his cheeks warming up every once in a while…and him expecting something from someone— especially from you…
He clenched his jaw, taking the signed CD from you before he shoved his hands in the pockets of his coat. Still remaining eye contact with you before huffing an exhale and looking elsewhere other than you. “We will…” he muttered, loud enough for you to catch.
I will appreciate it…
With him not wanting to see your face, he missed seeing the growing smile on your lips, and failed to see the other two inphernals in the room just watching the two of you interact with a knowing look in their eyes. And before any of them could tease the other, a bunch of knocks came from the door of the room before it opened wide to reveal their manager.
“Sorry to interrupt,” he wore an apologetic smile, “but I hope you two made the most of your time with the duo.”
Medkit just kept to himself while Sword answered for them with a nod. “We did! Thank you for your consideration.” he bowed at the older inphernal before turning to the duo who looked at him with amusement. “And thank you for your time. We hope we get to know each other more.” His statement earned a scoff from his friend, which didn’t really affect Sword much knowing socializing was not his forté.
“Again, it is an honor to meet you two.” Karambit replied with a smile of his own.
“We’ll be looking forward to our next meeting.” you smiled as well, quickly sliding back to your usual confidence, as you wrote something on a piece of paper. “Would be nice to see you guys after our show. But, you know, in case…in case we don’t—” you held the piece of paper with your number on it over to them. “We could meet some other time.” And Sword’s eyes widened before looking at Medkit with an expectant gleam in his eyes.
Medkit watched the interaction at the corner of his eye, and tried to shut off his mind from expecting anything…again. He knew that look on his friend’s face, and he didn’t need to know what he was planning and just leave him out of it…even when they now have your phone number.
“Alright, alright now. You two best skedaddle now.” The elder one stepped aside and rested his hands behind him. “I’ll tell the guards to let you two through the backstage when the show’s over.” He smiled kindly to them. “If you’re both taking up the offer, that is.”
Medkit just walked out of there without another word, but Sword was quick to save. “A once in a lifetime opportunity? Oh we’re taking it!” He beamed, and the manager nods in his direction.
“Then we’ll be expecting you two, then.”
“You bet!” Sword replied before running off to where Medkit went, not after adding, “See you later!” And just like that, the last of the fans were entertained.
The main hall was already swarming with inphernals, looking for seats for them to watch the show in comfort. The ideal seats were somewhere that’s not too close to tire your neck from looking higher, and not too far that you could barely see them. And Medkit and Sword were fortunate enough to find seats within that area.
Looking at the time…only a few more minutes before the show, Sword can hardly contain his excitement. Fiddling with the zipper of his jacket, he rambled on and on on what the new music is going to be; mentioning that, last time, Karambit was the one to compose the new music, which meant you would be the one who composed the new piece. The one you mentioned to him about…
Patiently he waited for the show to start as his friend shut up by himself. For the lights to dim and those in the theater to settle down. For the stage lights to swivel around and the announcer to hype them up. For the spotlight to finally shine on the two figures on stage in a contrasting kimono of red and white and blue and black. For your voice to resonate in the theater as you and your partner gave your appreciation for those who came for the show, supporting them.
And then, with a deep bow, something he’d caught on as a form of respect, you two began. He didn’t catch it at first, but the way the lights flattered you in your costume, like a model…for lack of better words…
Wait…what am I even thinking?
Before he could question himself more, your partner began strumming. Powerful and demanding attention, before it slows to a steady rhythm as you soon join in. The show started with the latest music from the last show. Karambit’s composition.
It reverberates across the theater. Strings of notes eliciting an expression of admiration and encouragement as the music continues. But all he could gauge on was how your violin compliments the guitar. How it would emphasize the fast pacing of the plucking as the notes are dragged each slide.
Medkit kept focusing on the violin. On the quick back to back slides, on the prolonged sensation of a note, on the increasing tempo of the arrangement.
Until he’s focusing solely on the figure at the stage. Particularly the one with the violin, swaying abruptly yet gracefully as you matched the tempo of the music. Eyes closed. Focused. Smile still gracing your serious demeanor.
How you make it seem flawless was beyond him. Like you’re not at all bothered with the light flashed before you, or the sudden shift in the air, or even all the eyes watching your performance.
Fascinating…
Then thunderous claps echoed in the room as the music ended, which added to Medkit’s confusion. Don’t the arrangements take at least 10 minutes or so before conclusion? Or was it him and his lack of awareness…?
It doesn’t make sense if he was at fault…you were good at what you do, he told himself.
The two of you thanked the crowd again. Saying something about the number of arrangements you'll play before introducing the new piece.
…
Was it 5 pieces or 3?
“Ooo, I hope they’ll play my favorite!” Sword hopped on his seat. Had there been seatbelts holding him back, it would've failed its purpose.
“They probably won't.” He deadpanned. Sword pouted as a joke.
And as if on cue, you started playing again. This time the fire lit ablaze from earlier had toned into a comforting, steady fire as a casual tune of your violin began, followed by alternating strums and thumps on the guitar.
A tavern-like vibe. Dragging them in a world where dragons exist and digital devices never came to be. Preparing their map, ration, weapons and scrolls for spells before they exit the doors for a whole new adventure awaiting them.
The morning light beats on their skin as they walk the dirt path amidst the field of grass. Flowers in full bloom greeting the sunny embrace. Breeze picking up as they trek their way towards the forest. Towards a job they took up the moment they tore the flyer off the board.
They were playing Sword’s favorite. Medkit had to pull him back by his shoulder before he could jump up and yell at the top of his lungs. Elated as awe danced in his eyes, staring at the two performers and probably imagining the adventure he once rambled about when he first shared the piece you were playing. It didn’t help that the story you shared on the debut of this music revolved around exploring and adventuring. It didn’t help as well that you’re the one who arranged it.
The rest of the music and those that followed blended to a blur of bright lights and cheers then silence as they continued to play the rest of the music they’ve planned.
…
This was different. Much different from him just watching videos of their live performances where their instruments weave through his ears from his earphones. Different from letting it play in the background as he goes about his duties in the church when he’s alone. Different from how the screen glares at him from staring too much at his phone, watching hours of their previous performance that he missed. Because now…
Medkit got to see you face to face. Was able to talk to you. Got one of his favorite albums signed (courtesy of Sword). And is now…watching you perform live in person.
Is this a dream…?
As he leaned forward with his elbows on his knees and his hands folded, resting over his lips like a critic weighing the outcome, his gaze never left you. Observing. Curious. Like how he would approach a problem he wants to find the answer to. Because somehow he wants to know…
Do you admire him like he admires you?
Unlike him, you are actually admirable…easy to approach and talk to. No one remains unnoticed in your eyes. Welcoming. Smiling. Despite your display of shyness earlier, it still didn’t hide the fact that…
That…
…he admired you…
Another round of applause erupts as they finish another piece before the lights dim and the spotlight only focuses on you as you compose yourself after earlier. And then your voice, warm and welcoming, flows through the hidden speakers.
“They say...” You began, “food is better enjoyed with company.” Your gaze swept the crowd. Slow, taking your sweet time. “They say hours of time spent are not enough when you are with someone you enjoy spending it with.”
Your smile grew. Warm and thoughtful. “And, they say a long journey becomes shorter when your company is someone you would treasure.” Your gaze searched the crowd before landing on the only inphernal who has a glowing, teal crystal floating between his horns.
Whether it’s the adrenaline fueling your boldness, or you’ve finally gathered the courage, you held his gaze despite the blush crawling on your cheeks and butterflies in your stomach, “To find company worth keeping…” You offered confidence and your own hidden confession that Karambit seems to give a small smile of approval from your periphery. “...and have courage to ask, if you’d like mine company to stay.”
Wide eye met with adoring ones before you began playing the new piece you arranged with your violin.
The intensity of your admiration poured into the flow of the instrument. Warm and comforting. Not forcing. No. Far be it for you to force someone to have mutual feelings with you. To force him to walk the same path with you.
But if your paths have crossed like this…if your paths have allowed him to witness you in your own world as you had watched him in his…and had the courage to compliment you in your hard work…then maybe, you’d be a fool to let this opportunity walk by.
Even if…even if he would reject your confession…at least you won’t regret not even giving it a chance.
They’re looking at me…
Medkit couldn’t believe it. No…it seemed unreal. Did you really say those as you looked at him? As if you were speaking directly to him?
“...if you like…my company to stay…” he repeats under his breath as he kept his gaze on you. Still trying to grasp if this was reality or just a figment of his own hallucinations caused by his lack of sleep.
No. He could feel the warmth creeping from his neck to his cheeks. He could feel the electricity in the air; the tension of unspoken truths… He could hear Sword’s not so quiet awe in your performance…
He’s wide awake. Responsive. Yet all he could do was just admire you from where you are. Enjoy the piece that you worked hard on as it wraps around him like a gentle embrace before leading him by his mind’s hand as the music brings him in your story.
A time when you had dragged him to get some street food from the parked food trucks by the central park. Though he would’ve preferred something less messy when eating it, he still went with you. Waiting in line, talking to you about mundane things, before leaving with your food to stroll through the park.
A place where he would never spend his free time at, nor spend the time to go bird watching. And yet, here he was, sitting on a bench with you beside him, eating your take outs while you pointed out the birds perched on the branches above you as the wind brought forth a gentle breeze. The sunlight that seeped through the leaves of the natural canopy hitting your face, making you glow. Breathtaking.
And then, there’s the olden town. With worn down bricked paths and faded paints of buildings. The grand fountain, in all its wonder…yet none compared when you were beside it. Bright and hopeful as you mingled with the people in the square. Laughing. Inviting. Dancing. They adored you…
…he adores you…
Before finally walking you to the bus stop. Waiting for the bus to arrive as you two sat under the waiting shed. Exchanging comments and opinions about a certain topic on the news yesterday. Seeing you carefree and lax while he would sigh, exasperated, once in a while. The banter, so casual. Conversations come easy. Smiles, big, and laughter, full.
Then you stared into his eye, unabashedly. Eyes reflecting the sunset hue, making them sparkle. Then you smiled…for him, and held his hands…
Medkit had his hands clasped together as he leaned forward from his seat. Elbows resting on the armrest as the last note of your masterpiece vibrates to a joyful end.
And no later than you finished, claps and cheers filled the theater. Whistles were even heard as some even stood up from their seats as if it would make their gesture of appreciation louder.
He would too. He would’ve done the same if he wasn’t so taken aback by the vision of your music…of you…the real you without the stage flair…spending time with him…
Medkit held his breath.
It’s the same for everyone…right…?
It wasn’t the same for everyone.
The moment Sword spoke his mind of what he had imagined with the new piece during one of the breaks, he knew it wasn’t like his.
The moment he caught phrases of what the other fans had imagined, he knew his was different.
But one thing he noticed from what he could gather; their imagines include inphernals that they love, care about…
So what was the story that played in his mind while the duo played the new piece? While you shared your new composition?
Does it even mean anything?
Sword seemed to think so, even though Medkit barely gave him any answer from his questioning. Which shouldn’t really bother him if he didn’t care…but Medkit did care. Because this was the first time his mind went creative with a story based on music.
Usually his creativity would lie on curiosity, logic, problem solving, innovation…but this; enjoying music, shouldn’t invoke such brain activity on him. The least it could do is just relax and enjoy.
But he did more than that.
“C’mon, Med!” Sword dragged him from his thoughts, “We should get them something before we meet them. Y’know, to show our appreciation.”
If Sword was hinting on something, Medkit didn’t catch it. Or rather, he chose not to think about it. Chose not to think that it meant something…
But a small part of him, the illogical part of him that managed to let him agree with Sword in getting them— you —something, to show appreciation, got him to walk beside his friend to the booths, thinking of what he could give you once they meet you again this afternoon.
The show had finally concluded about an hour before sunset. Inphernals leisurely piling out the theater before embracing the afternoon heat of Crossroads, or indulging, still on the booths situated just outside the main room.
You and Karambit were already prepping up to head back to your faction after cleaning your faces, switching out of your costumes, and packing up your belongings.
Your heart still pounding in your chest. Adrenaline still pumping through you, from what you did hours earlier; making eye contact with him before playing the piece that you made with him in mind. And it doesn't help that your partner and manager kept teasing you about it. Because apparently, they noticed;
How you suddenly had a new burst of energy while playing the new piece. How you were light yet filled with passion as you played your violin. How your smile never strained, never wavered, never left your face for the rest of the show.
You were glowing. And they both noticed it.
Did he…notice it as well…?
You wondered. Thoughts still lingering to the inphernal with teal glowing crystal between his antler-like horns. The inphernal with a gaze that could drown you the longer you kept staring at it. The inphernal whose story seemed buried deep down but you still wanted to find out, understand.
The inphernal…who stole your heart without him knowing…
Does he even feel the same?
You bit your lip. Willing your thoughts from overthinking.
Even though he did compliment me…it was directed at my skills…
You groaned. Earlier, while performing, you didn’t care whether he would reject you or not. But, the confession just flying above his head seemed worse than rejection. Because then, the purpose of your confidence then would’ve been put to waste when he wouldn’t even acknowledge the reason for that piece.
Or even worse…
He didn’t even imagine anything while we were playing…
Your shoulders slumped at that thought. Your music not even going through him and just being a pleasant tune to listen to…
“You’re overthinking it.” Karambit spoke in his usual bored tone as he poked your shoulder, snapping you from your thoughts. “I’m sure he got your message.”
And before you could protest, he poked your cheek. “He got your message.” His voice, firmer, as if to shut off your worries.
“But—”
“Shut up.” He tapped your forehead with his hand.
“He. Got. Your. Message.” He said in between taps.
He stepped back from you, giving you a pointed look; daring you to argue back.
Somehow, you didn’t argue. Somehow, your partner’s relentless assurance tapped your worries away. Somehow…you were anticipating his after-show visit. Because somehow…
…you weren’t shying away anymore.
Come what may then!
You reassured yourself.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
Uncle opened the door enough to poke his head through. A wide smile on his face. “Hope you two still have energy for two more fans.”
Karambit held your shoulder as you turned to leave for the comfort room. Again.
“You can send them in, old man.” Your friend, who was kind enough to help you face the results of your boldness, kept his hand on your shoulder. Pinning you in place. “We still have a few moments before sundown.”
Uncle looked over at you; frozen in place, and just gave a reassuring smile before beckoning the two phighters to enter. And at this point, it seemed they were both conspiring against you. But in their defense, you were hopeless on your own.
With no other options, you just stood there, red faced and sucking in your shyness as you watched Sword come in with a box of what seemed to be cupcakes, and his friend, Medkit, with a small pot of…camellia bonsai…
White flowers in full bloom, extending from dainty branches covered in evergreen leaves.
It’s so beautiful…
You thought to yourself. The bonsai cultivated and pruned to perfection as it practically glowed in your eyes. It would make a lovely addition to your mini garde—
“For you.” His voice pulled you from your thoughts as you noticed the plant was now raised in front of you. Eyes barely able to look past it to get a glimpse of the inphernal giving it to you. But once you do, you notice it; the hint of blush on his cheeks as he avoids looking at you.
Because now that he sees you without the make-up, not that it was hiding much of your face in the first place, he realized why you were familiar. Because he has seen you elsewhere. He has locked eyes with you. And only now did he realize it. That all this time, the inphernal he admired was the same one he'd been staring intently at when his heart knew before his brain did.
Adorable. A side of him you’ve seen twice now in just today. And something tells you that he rarely does this.
Had you looked around and didn’t just focus on him the entire time, you would’ve seen the surprised look on your best friend when Medkit presented you the plant. You would've seen the approving nod of his friend as a proud smile played on his lips. You would’ve seen a fond smile on Uncle’s face as he shakes his head as if this seemed unreal.
But what was the meaning of this? The gift? A camellia flower at that? Was he…
Your blush— the one you tried so hard to push down and act like it's nothing —returned in full bloom. Mind racing with just one thought…
He…likes me too…

How does it feel like now that we have 2 more months till 2026 🤕
Well, dear, considering everything that's going on? Feels like I'm still stuck somewhere or trudgin' through mud with how hectic it is as we approach the end of the year.
But anyways, NEW YEAR!!!
And before that, CHRISTMAS!!!
So while waiting for that, Imma just lay down somewhere while I start thinking how old I'm getting ( ̄o ̄) . z Z
So...past me was being ambitious on the "I'll finish all the request before September" and was oblivious to the fact that we need to focus on our studies...so...bear with me, yeah? Request will open once I've actually finished and posted them.
And also for those who were waiting last Friday for the request to be posted...I'm sorry (っ˘̩╭╮˘̩)っ
I was trying to finish it that time, but was only 2/3 done, because I'm so invested on the "infatuation turned potential romantic chemistry" and now it leads to this...
Which is one of the longest ones I've written that'll be posted. So, to the darling anon who had requested this (I see you have taken off the anonymity (・ω・)つ⊂(・ω・)) I know you've been waiting for it, but best I could give now is another snippet, and some progress reports and sneakpeaks on the other requests.

In the process of cooking before being seasoned (finalized)
After a few more music played in your violin…
After thanking the crowd for their hearty participation and for making your experience at the slice of old time town worth returning to…
After packing your instrument back in its case…
You now find yourself leaning unto the railings of the pier. The height to where the city of Crossroads was built flying over your head as you reflected on the day you’ve spent.
The sun soon threatened to set, as the sky began painting into soft hues of orange, peach and pink, even dusting the clouds that managed to roll in.
A whole day spent with fun, but ends up with a push that wasn’t strong enough to have me writing…
Turning your back to the view, you began to walk towards the bus stop, knowing the trains would be full during this time with all the inphernals coming and leaving.
Reaching the waiting shed by the bus stop, you sat down and waited for the bus heading to Thieves’ Den. eyes gazing at each inphernal that peaked your interest. People-watching as they say.
One bus screeched to a stop before the doors opened with a hiss.
And swords forbid that you take a breath lest he disappears into the crowd as you stare in awe at his sharp and strict features that were now softened by the sunset. Warm and breathtaking.
It didn’t help that it seemed like everything was moving in slow motion as his tired eye met with your awestruck ones. The warmth that crept to your cheeks had long made itself known, but you were too focused on the very center of your admiration.
Medkit…

Still hunting...
But here's something to chew on for a while while I keep track of the hunt.
“You’re such a dumbass sometimes, Y/N.” he huffed and gazed at you. Tender yet unyielding. And you hated how it still gave butterflies to your stomach.
►▷►▷►▷►▷►▷►▷►▷►▷
I'll share one headcanon from what I've written so far.
He likes sharing memes with you and would sometimes ask you to recreate one with him, if you want, taking a picture and slapping in the caption. He’d be showing it off to his friends and laughing his butt off before openly saying something fond about you.
.°˖⋆ ℧ 𓃗 .°˖⋆.°˖⋆ ℧ 𓃗 .°˖⋆.°˖⋆ ℧ 𓃗 .°˖⋆
Still hunting, but I feel like this would take long to write as well (• ▽ •;)
Anyways, here's what caught my eye while hunting.
“You seriously didn’t know?” She was baffled. Lips twitching in amusement at how clueless Y/N was.
“Would I stand here shouting at you for answers if I did?” you glared at her. Observing. Waiting. “I thought the blood that soiled you was just your straightforward way of assassinating someone.”
The silence lingered, and the the smirk never left her lips, still amused as she watched you figure out something she had long been doing.
“I thought you were just killing one or two inphernals that would threaten the cult.” the little falter of her lips at you mentioning the family as a cult didn’t go unnoticed. But you still continued, asking…curious.
“How many?”
Scythe quirked her brow. She didn’t know where this was going. But it was you…she didn’t mind letting you drag this on.
When you were met with silence to your question, you asked again. More firm this time. “How many did you kill, Scy—?”
“One…” she answered, coolly…until she refused to look you in the eye. “One hundred and twelve…and counting.”
One hundred and twelve…and more…more…
You felt your stomach churn, flip and threaten to empty itself to your mind imagining the slaughter of unsuspecting inphernals; dead bodies littering the streets of their own village. Painting the ground red and sticky of their own fluids. Wide-shocked eyes and mouth agape from when they tried to outrun the unwanted visit of death…only for her to chase them down…and for what?
“Why…?” you held your ground as you kept your unforgiving gaze at her. “Why did you do it?”
“Why?” Scythe almost scoffed at your question, as if you should know the answer by now. “I did it for the father.” your jaws clenched. “A little sacrifice to please him—”
You didn’t let her finish as you hurled curses on her and that…that…monster!
SLAP
Ears ringing. Cheek stinging and in pain. Lips broken and blood pooling out before running down her jaws. Scythe’s mechanical arm reached out to meet your cheek without a second thought.
No hesitation. No reluctance. Just instinct dictated by her obedience to that…creature. And you don’t know what stung more; your inflamed cheek, or your broken heart knowing your lover have long dedicated and loves the cult more than you…
“I know I shouldn’t be thinking about it, but…” your breath hitched. Wanting to swallow the sob that threatened to escape, only for it to seem like you tried to swallow without chewing.
Because maybe…you were.
Just swallowing every bit of thought that enters your mind without putting much thought into it. Without thinking whether it’s true or not. Without letting yourself breath and think it over. Without letting yourself just…
Pulling you from your thoughts was a gentle touch. A hand over your shoulder pulling you closer to warmth. Grounding. Comforting.
“I’ll listen. Whatever it is that’s got you thinking like this…”
Tears soon blurred your vision.

Still hunting...
But, here's the hunt I've been following.
“Why are you upset?” Sword asked, concerned at his friend’s change in reaction. Usually you'd be giggling, making a joke about it.
You looked at him with furrowed brows and mouth agape like he just said something stupid. “Wha—why am I upset?” You asked in disbelief and completely forgot about your injury. “Oh! Well—I don't know!? Maybe because the love of my life just almost got squished by a loose boulder!” you gestured at the fallen rocks that now blocked the path and failed to acknowledge how Sword’s eyes widened. “No big deal! Like—it’s fine!”
A pebble tumbled down the fallen rocks before hitting the ground, as if to emphasize how safe it was. Then you huffed, crossing your arms and looked back at Sword who seemed…oddly quiet.
“Uh…Sword? You okay?” Concern laced your words as you tilt your head.
He nods, unsure. “Yeah, I just…” his eyes looked to the side as if that would help him with his words. “What you said earlier?” Sword looked back at you. His eyes…begged you to repeat what you said, like a puppy looking at its owner.
“I said…no big deal?”
“No, no.” He shook his head lightly. “Uhm, before that.”
And only then did you remember your little slip up as heat crept to your face, blinking at Sword who now had the same blush on his cheeks.
“Wait, so…” Sword started, fiddling with his fingers. “You…love me?” His voice was nervous yet hopeful for reassurance. You nod. “Since when?” He asked again.
“I…since like…forever? I dunno. We’ve been friends for a while and it just turned into me crushing on you.”
He had a look of awe in his eyes. “Why didn't you tell?”
“Why didn't I—” you were so shocked. So all this time he was oblivious??? “I’ve been dropping hints at you so you’d notice.” you crossed your arms.
“Seriously?”
“Oh my—! YES! I was literally flirting with you these past few months!”
“You were?”
“You wer—YES I WAS!”
He looked at you like it was a joke. He still couldn't believe it.
I just wanted to say that I love your writing! Especially as someone who loves to read oneshot (not that I hate headcanons, but I am personally more of a oneshot reader type of person). I'm currently having some ideas stuck in my mind for some oneshot ideas, so if you don't mind I'll be requesting that if you open your request again.
However, please do take your time to finish other requests first. Don't forget to stay hydrated ^_^
Also if you don't mind me asking question, do you used to write before this? Whether privately or publicly?
UwU thank you for the appreciation, darling!
I feel like you're the same darling who requested for the Sword x reader. Mostly because of the stay hydrated part (≧▽≦)
But regardless if you're the same person or not, thank you kindly again!
Also, I do write! Hehe. Even before I decided to share my writing to the public. They're mostly about original stories and AUs where "if" my OCs existed and imagines of different fandoms I was in. Though most of them were for my eyes only.
I say most, because I was able to share one of those writings I kept for myself, which was the first oneshot I shared on this blog. Second was a "supposed to be a book with many chapters" in AO3 under the medkit/reader tag. It only has one chapter so far 'cause I'm still plotting out everything that would happen. Kind of...not being successful on that part 'cause now I'm busy with studies. I'm not saying what the title is though (;^ω^)
So yeah! Hope you're takin' good care of yourself as well, my dear! (人*´∀`)。*゚+
Hello! I'm the anon that had requested about the medkit × idol!reader— sorry if I sound impatient but, is there any day that you think you'll be able to post it?
Not to sound rude of course! I just really adore your writing and I'm pretty excited to see what you've came up with, take your time! It's just been like 2 weeks since I had last requested that, so I just wanted to know :D
Peeks through the door before quickly opening it wide
Oh, my dear! I'm so sorry! (っ˘̩╭╮˘̩)っ
I know I keep saying that I'll post it sometime, but somehow new ideas keep popping in my mind that's like "hey, this would make much more sense" so I had to keep rewriting some parts of the story. (• ▽ •;)
I'm actually going to add another character that will help with the arrangements of their little show and their meet and greet. It'd just make much more sense since reader and their friend would be more music focused.
But yeah! To answer your question of when I'll be able to post it... (-_-;)・・・
This Friday. Yep! I had to set a final deadline for myself sooner. So yeah! (人*´∀`)。*゚+

MY GIFT FOR YOU

A handful of blueprints retrieved from the office of the Blackrock superiors. That’s what you had in your arms as you marched down the white-tiled halls. It was a simple task handed to you by Subspace; to accept back the blueprints that were evaluated and approved by the superior scientists.
Naturally, you would smile ear to ear with your uncontained excitement for him, but today was not that case. Something soured your mood. And that something just so happened to be done by none other than your lover. But, what exactly were you upset about?
You turned the corner; Corridor M-1, to where his lab would be. Still marching on.
It wasn’t new to you that Subspace doesn’t want to be told what to do unless he was already planning it in the first place. Or unless the superiors told him so. Nor was it new that he doesn’t like to be rushed to finish something that requires his utmost perfection. Unless the superiors told him so.
It also wasn’t new to you that he would do anything just to see your gorgeous smile. Gorgeous…because of how awestruck he is whenever he sees your genuine smile. Your smile that’s worth more than any praise the higher ups could give. So beautiful that he could just stare at you all day…if it weren’t for his work.
But then the thing is… he didn’t want to do this simple task that you’ve asked him nicely about. Was it so hard to just update the systems of the Biografts? You’ve seen him do it before, but, sadly, noone was allowed to tamper with other inphernal’s inventions, which means you couldn’t do it yourself. So you asked him. But he just shrugged it off, saying it wasn’t necessary.
Oh yeah, it is not necessary, especially now that there’s a Playgrounder that could bypass the system protection if not updated constantly.
You huff, now more frustrated at his foolishness. It’s not being paranoid, it’s just…what if something would happen because of that simple detail?
The doors to his lab slid open upon detecting your presence, and you walked in like you weren’t upset with him. Heading straight to his drawers, where he keeps his plans, you pull on one labeled ‘evaluated’ and neatly place them inside for him to check on later, on which he’ll prioritize first and last.
While you were placing the blueprints inside his drawer, you heard a door slide open, followed by quick thumps of boots on tiles, and soon a pair of arms embraced you from behind.
Subspace.
“Hello, gorgeous!” Giddily, he greets as he rests his chin on your shoulder. “How are you this fine afternoon?” he hummed as he practically squished the good side of his face on your cheek, which usually makes you giggle. But now you greet him with silence.
Thinking you didn’t hear him, he cleared his throat, muffled by his gasmask. “Are those the prints I asked you to retrieve? Oh, how sweet of you!”
Nothing. You just continued placing them in the drawer. The sound of paper brushing on paper; the only thing that replied to his praise.
“Darling?” After a few beats of silence, Subspace pulled away, tense, like they were presenting him with a problem he didn’t know the answer to.
He swallowed, dry, and carefully reached for your chin. “Y/N, is something bo–” You pushed away his hand and continued to place the last of the blueprints in.
You brushed him off. Not even a pip or hum or smile from you…Did he do something wrong?
Think, Subspace, think! He thought. What did he do to have brought you to give him the silent treatment?
..
Was it something he said earlier?
…
You had closed the drawer as quietly as you could before you walked past him and took the checklist off his desk. List of materials he would need for his current project that was more important than safety precautions.
Just when you thought you could get away with not talking to him, you soon face him after he grabbed your shoulder and turned you to look at him. Your eyes widened for a fraction before you blinked at him and returned to your neutral face.
He now grabbed both of your shoulders, not letting you go. “Is this about the system updates?” His only good eye staring into yours, looking for answers. And your furrowed brows were enough to make him sigh.
“Oh, and here I thought it was something serious.” His bravado returned, exhaling a laugh when he finally realized your reason.
You were about to say something; about to correct him that it is serious, but decided not to as you just huffed and shrugged off his hands and walked away towards the door.
“C’mon, darling! It’s not that urgent!” He walks after you. “I’ll just do the update after I’m done with the current project!”
The system would’ve been hijacked by then, given the chance. You argued in your mind as you walked out of the door. But before you could step out of his lab, he grabbed your arm. Firm yet careful not to hurt you.
“Y/N, please!” He was practically begging at this point. “You’re depriving me of your smile and voice!” he pulled you in his arms, like how someone would hold something precious. “Won’t you grace me with your attention once more?”
Subspace held you closer; head to his chest, mindful of your horns, hoping it would get you to speak again. You’ve always liked the sound of his heartbeat; it reminds you that he still has a heart…somewhat.
Just one word. That’s all he’s asking for. Just to know that you still care about him…
But you just huffed, not really in the mood with his shenanigans. Not when he couldn’t even do a simple task that he’s done a hundred times.
So you tried to pull away, but he kept you in place. “Oh, come on, darling, please..!” he rested his chin on your head. “I’ll, I’ll update the Biografts today!” he blurted out.
“Really?” You quickly answered. Hopeful as you pulled your head from his chest to look at him.
“Later. Before we clock out.”
You stared at him and his smug look. The kind that says “I finally got you to talk.”
So much for the silent treatment, you told yourself. Crossing your arms, you turned your head away from him while he still trapped you in his arms. “You’re insufferable.” you huffed.
He scoffed, “You wouldn’t be saying that if I told you that the superiors wanted me to finish this project,” he then grumbled, “as soon as possible…”
…
“What?” You looked back at him, dumbfounded.
“Why didn’t you tell me? I would’ve understood!” you held his hand as he let you go. “I mean, between that and your safety it’s just…” you trailed off, thinking of what the superiors could do if he failed to finish the project they wanted done right away. No. You couldn’t possibly imagine what they might do.
“Yes, yes, I know. You worry about my safety.” He said as a matter-of-fact. “Relax, darling. Worry doesn’t look good on you…so does giving me silent treatment,” he mumbled the last part, but you just rolled your eyes, “So don’t let it get to your head, for I, Subspace T. Mine, am capable of my own safety.” he declared. The confidence in his voice leaves no room for doubt.
You sigh. “Fine…but you better keep your word.” you point at him.
“Of course, darling. Anything for you.”
You just exhale, relieved that you won’t have to ignore him anymore, and you peck his mask where his mouth would be and smiled. “I’ll see you later then.”
You could practically see him smiling with how bright his eyes shone when you finally graced him with your tender voice and radiant smile. Oh, how he could just stare at it for as long as he wants…but alas, he has work.
“And I shall await that moment.” he said with his dramatic flair before letting you leave his lab with his clipboard in your hand. Off to gather the supplies he needed for his project.
It wasn’t new to Subspace to do things that would benefit him. He had lost his conscience long ago! And yet…he had to shake off this bit of heaviness in his chest after lying to you.
It was a white lie. Harmless. Especially since this project wasn’t really a demand from the superiors. Rather, it was his demand to make something for you; a machine that you had thought of. Something that brought sparkles to your eyes that the stars at night would envy how breathtaking it was. How he loved to see you like that again. To see your face light up as one of your passion projects brought to life by none other than him! Your dearly beloved!
And now! Because of his dedication in building this contraption for…weeks! And impatience from wanting to see you as happy as ever! He’s almost done! Yes! So close! According to his calculations, he should be done before you two would clock out for today. And just before he could update his Biografts.
Unable to contain himself, he rushed back to the other room; his other lab, to continue his gift for you. It won’t be long before he could finally show it to you.
…
If only he could show you…
…
ATTENTION. ATTENTION.
ALL INPHERNALS AT SECTOR M MUST EVACUATE THE BUILDING IMMEDIATELY.
WE REPEAT. ALL INPHERNALS AT—
Flashing red lights and alarms blaring out danger as security had already ushered the scientists and other residents stationed with you in the building. You had followed orders and now lined up with all the others.
You were down to half the list of Subspace’s supplies when you felt the ground shake and the lights flicker, accompanied by the distant sound of explosion. And now you’re here, being directed to the safe area.
While being ushered, you craned your neck to get a glimpse of those familiar horns and crystal. But so far, you caught no sight of him. That was until you picked on something you weren’t supposed to hear; pretending to mind your own business as you tuned in.
“Corridor M-2 is safely evacuated, sir.” The young soldier salutes at his commander.
He nods, allowing the soldier to be at ease. “What about M-1? Any survivors?” the commander inquired. This piqued your interest.
M-1? That’s…that’s the hall where Subspace’s lab is, you thought to yourself. Holding the box of half of the supplies he needed as you found a place to sit just close enough. Is he okay? Is he safe?
“Only two of the resident scientists were found. Wounded, but alive, sir.”
Your blood ran cold, and the drumming of your heart reached your ears. Only two of the three…?
“Which lab was destroyed this time?”
“The middle one, sir. We couldn’t make out whose lab it was with the debris and hazards.”
Static. That’s all you heard as your mind replays what the young soldier had said.
“Make sure you send in the troup, asap. We need to investigate the cause of this before the admin nags me about it.”
“Yes, sir.”
And before you knew it, your feet had dragged you to run; leaving his supplies and just sprinting out of the evacuation area while the other officials in-charge of this evacuation hollered at you.
To stop in your tracks.
To stop and return to the safe area.
To stop…
…and let the chances of him actually surviving whatever happened in his lab slip by.
Against better judgement, you ignored them and let the adrenaline take you there as fast as your legs wouldn’t be able to take you if not for the rising panic in your chest for his well-being.
Running past the corridors, you take deep breaths; deep breaths just enough to supply oxygen to your burning lungs from the uncalled for exercise.
You cursed at how unfair these halls had become. How you used to just waltz down the halls with him by your side is stretching long now that you were in a hurry. Now that time was of the essence.
Soon, you turn the corner to Corridor M-1, where Subspace’s lab is, and your eyes widen, catching your breath as you witness the state of destruction just from the look of the hall:
Light fixtures hang loose. Tiles cracked, soiled and misplaced. Wires and tubes exposed. Tables, chairs flipped and blown apart. Documents and equipment scattered, ruined and charred.
But no sign of movement…
…
No sign of him…
With what's left of your adrenaline, you push through the debris and ruin of the place that you once worked in with him…
Stepping inside of the lab…if you could even call it that with the state it’s in, it was worse. Moreso when your eyes landed on the other room, where the source of the explosion might have been.
You walk into the other room. Not caring whether your lab coat gets ashed, or how your boots were soiled, or how your knees almost buckled when you saw…him…
No words would leave your lips when you wanted to call out to him. To get his attention. To see if he would react…
You scrambled to get to him. To hold him. To lie your head on his chest and hear his heart beat.
Alive…That’s what you were hopelessly hoping for…
But as your legs gave out, dropping you on your knees, you got a closer look.
His crystal is gone.
His mask, charred, broken and hanging by a strap.
His eyepatch, gone.
His face, unrecognizable.
Horns, chipped and cracked.
The modified sleeve he had for his rotting arm, gone, along with that same arm.
Uniform, soiled, burned and tattered.
Tears streamed down your face as you held him close. You bit your lip to stop your whimper. Digging your teeth to your lower lip, you thought to yourself, This has to be a dream. This has to be…a nightmare…it has to be…
Your breath hitched and, slowly, shook your head. Wake up. Wake up! Y/N please wake up! You trembled. Your breath, your body, your hope, your hold on him…why won’t you wake up!?
Please…please…please please please—
But reality soon sets in as moments pass.
No breathing. No heartbeat.
A strangled cry erupts as you bring him closer. Cradling, like how you would when even inventing became too much for him. When all he wanted was to feel the warmth of someone who truly loved him despite his difficult personality. When all he wanted was to have you close to him and listen to your voice…
Now…? You hold his unmoving body.
He is gone…
Subspace is gone.
Along with him was his lab, his plans, his future with you…and the gift that he made just for you. A gift that he spent his whole working hours to perfect, down to the fine details that you liked to add, no matter how ridiculous it may be. But you don’t know that.
And even if you knew about it, it’s already gone.
Just like him.

"My grogeous had a nightmare? Oh no, no, no!" He tried to whisper. Words muffled by his mask as he held you close, and held you closer when your body trembled with how much you're crying on his shoulder.
He didn't like getting his clothes soaked. Didn't like the disgusting feeling of cloth sticking to his already fragile skin. But that didn't matter for now.
What mattered was you and how you suddenly woke up and managed to have tears stain your gorgeous face while he was with you!
His brows furrowed as reasons filled his mind to what could have made you into this sobbing mess that oh so breaks his heart with every hitch of your breath!
What was your nightmare about?!
Subspace's thoughts were interrupted when you were slowly calming down. But you were still crying...
...my poor darling...
His curiosity can wait. His priority right now is you.
"It's okay, gorgeous...I'm right here." He assured you. Rubbing gentle circles on your back. "No one will take me away from you..." He repeats, "No one..."

And every time it never fails to make your face burn.

OwO Medkit? Medkit!
I shall do this idea justice! Get ready to kiss attack Medkit! Let's hope the doctor could tolerate that kind of affection.

Medkit had just returned from work at the church after…a week of being away from home…from you…and of course he came home late, when you were already asleep.
Or so he thought.
After preparing for bed, he thought you had fallen asleep under the blanket. He wanted to take a peek. To see you after days of…not seeing you. But decided to just kiss you through the covers, to where your head is.
When he was in bed, with his body under the sheets, you, being the sneak that you are, moved to hug him from under the sheets. A dust of pink graced his cheeks and he couldn't help but click his tongue in irritation, a habit of his. But he wasn’t really annoyed with you.
Lifting the sheets, he saw you hugging his torso, already preparing to cuddle him as he caught you going on top of him.
“What on inpherno are you doing?” He asked, irritated, yet his blush still hadn't left his cheeks.
In a meek voice, you rested your cheek on his chest, gazing at him with such longing like how a dog would look at its owner after they returned from work. So sweet and innocent…he had a bad feeling of what you're about to say.
“I missed you…and thought I’d hold you since you’ve been gone for quite some time…” you gripped his shirt, emphasizing your point of missing his presence. Not wanting to let him go.
How could he say no to you when even he had missed your tender affections?
After a few moments of pondering and staring into your puppy eyes, he gave a resigned sigh and removed the blanket off of you and him. “Fine. Only because I…miss you too...”
In no time you nuzzled your face to his chest, tightening your embrace as the sensation of having your beloved in your arms swelled your heart with longing and warmth.
Medkit could do nothing but just accept all the love you had reserved just for him…and he'd be lying if he said he didn't want this. In all honesty, he wants this…but, maybe to some degrees only. Maybe.
He held you there in a loose embrace. A sorry display of a cuddle when compared to yours that’s trying to swallow him whole with your sweetness.
When you thought nuzzling his chest wasn't enough to pour your love, you gently pushed yourself to hide your face in the crook of his neck. More warmth soon crept from his neck to his face. Flustered from the sheer closeness, and his first instinct was to push you away, only to remind himself that…it's just you.
“I love you so much…” your muffled words of affirmation reached his ears, which twitched in annoyance…mostly to himself with how embarrassing he must look right now.
But your words made his face soften a little as Medkit soon had the courage to tighten his hold around you, just a little bit. “Love you too, darling…” and his reply with your little nickname, so rare, yet it's the very reason why your heart is just overflowing with love for him at this moment.
And, as if that wasn't enough to show how much affection you have for this blushing mess of a doctor, you asked him, turning your gaze at him from the corner of your eyes. “Can I kiss you?”
Oh, look what you did. Now he’s really a blushing mess now that you've asked that. You smiled gently at him, but he kept up his aloof demeanor, as much as he could with how warm his face was, he cleared his throat. “You can. But I’d rather you don't.”
“Please…?” You pressed your lips to his jaw. And then you pressed your cheek to his, and begged again. “Please, darling…?”
“No–”
“Please, baby?”
Medkit grimaced at that nickname. “Don't call me that, ple–”
“Please, sweetie pie, honeybunch?”
“What did I–”
“Please, my sweet loveydove?”
Medkit groaned as you continued to throw those nicknames at him, internally cringing. At least, it’s so cringey that he’s not blushing anymore. He groaned before he asked, “Will you stop calling me those stupid names if I agree to your request?”
“Yah.” You quickly answered. Now he's wondering whether this was your plan all along…
…Well, it's just you so…
“Alright.” he positioned you both to sit, with his back resting on the head of the bed while you're just grinning from ear to ear. Adorable little suck-up he’d call you in his mind. “You're lucky tomorrow's my day-off, or else I would’ve slept now with how late it is.”
“Oh, how generous of you, my love.”
His cheeks were dusted in pink again with your sweet tone and nickname…one that he tolerates this time. One that he adores.
Once settled, he lazily rested his hands on your hips as you gently held his face in your hands. So tender and loving as you reached his forehead with your lips. It catches him off-guard, but still welcomes it. The sensation that Medkit never seemed to get used to ever since you two got together. The sensation that still made his face burn, his heart beat wild, and his worries melt away.
After kissing his forehead, you moved to his cheeks. Hands gently moving towards the base of his horns. Adoring it with your thumb brushing over it before you began kissing his cheeks. You didn’t linger your kiss, but peppered his cheeks with light kisses.
Medkit huffed and kept still, closing his eyes as you covered his face with your affection. Not really a fan of being showered with kisses…he prefers lingering kisses.
The kind that would have you both think twice whether to keep kissing or not. The kind that would lead to a passionate one that would leave them breathless.
Unsatisfied with kissing his cheeks, you pulled away, pulling him also from his thoughts, thinking you were finished. But the look in your eyes says otherwise, raising his brow in curiosity. What were you thinking this ti–
“May I kiss you on the lips?” you pleaded. And the silence stretched on as he looked at you like you said something stupid. Which you did. Because he thought that was part of your plan already.
His subsiding blush returned again as he sighed. “I thought that’s what I agreed to.” And to assure you, he pulled you closer.
And there it was. Your eyes lighting up like the time the two of you went star gazing after much persuasion from you. The shine of intrigue and joy was evident as he looked deep into your eyes. Mesmerizing. Something he will never get tired of seeing.
You slowly leaned in, testing the water as you tilted your head. Making sure that Medkit was okay with this. He is, as Medkit leaned in as well, tilting his head, before you held his lips with yours in a tender embrace. Warm, and soft. Full of love and adoration. You both closed your eyes, savoring it.
A satisfied hum rumbled your chest as your arms snaked behind his neck and deepened the kiss, to which he obliged. Taking his hand from your hips to rest behind your head.
Did you miss me this much? He wondered, taking a peek at you and just admired you this close. You were adorable. So much that it’s making his heart ache thinking you would grace him with this much love. I missed you too…so much…
Then you pulled away and took deep breaths, thinking that was the end.
Medkit was grateful for your affection; for showing him how much you loved him, and was about to rest his forehead with yours and call it a night when you kissed him again. Eyes wide, and his gasp muffled by your lips on his again.
The warm, fuzzy feeling he felt when you first kissed him evolved into a burning one as you pulled away and kissed him again, seeming to be in a bliss as you poured your love into every kiss you gave him.
Okay, you were being too affectionate for Medkit’s tolerance, and he wasn’t in the mood for whatever comes after passionate kissing. He needed to think of a way, fast, to get you to stop before his brain autopilots into the heat of the moment.
Fortunately, he’s already got an idea.
Before you came in for another kiss, he gave feather-light touches on your neck. You yelped and raised your shoulder to stop his tickling, but he still persisted.
“Wait, Med–stop! Ahhahah!” You begged until you started giggling.
His light touches turned to tickles as he also poked your ticklish side. Effectively stopping your affectionate assault on his lips and turning you into a giggling, laughing mess as you fell beside him in bed. Curled up to defend against his attacks. But it was a pointless defense as he knew where to attack.
“Waitwaitwaitwait–stop–!” You said between laughs “Medkit–!”. But he didn’t listen as he just smirked at you.
Medkit continued tickling you until you couldn’t utter anything understandable anymore, to which he decided to show some mercy and laid at his side of the bed. Elbow propped as he rests his head on his hand. Watching you recover from being brutally attacked on your ticklish spots.
You heaved and took deep breaths. Coughing some bits of laughter before clearing your throat with how much you laughed. You wiped your tears of unexpected laughter while your face took its time to return to its natural color with how red you were from laughing.
Rolling on your back, both you and Medkit laid in bed in a comfortable silence as he waited for you to fully recover. And when you did, he chuckled. “How was that?” He started, “That was me stopping you before it gets heated.”
You coughed again to clear your throat before you gave a pout. “You always ruin the fun…” a little whine for ruining your flow of affection over him. He just rolled his eye at you. A small smile gracing his usual neutral face, while you huffed at him. Smiling as you close your eyes and reflect on this rare moment with him.
Sensing you at peace, Medkit couldn't help but gaze at your relaxed features, illuminated by what little moonlight pierced through the curtain of your shared bedroom. The slow rise and fall of your chest. A reminder that you’re still alive. That you’re still here.
Your smile, that proved to him that there’s still something bright for him to look forward to in his chaotic life.
And your eyes…
With his free hand, Medkit scooped your head gently, mindful of your horns. His sudden touch after his tickling surprised you as you opened your eyes to look at him as he rose from his side. But soon relaxed when he touched his forehead with yours.
Your eyes…gazed lovingly at his lone eye. Adoring you through his half-lidded one, on how you seem to hold an entire galaxy in your eyes with the way they always lit up. And he still doesn’t get why they do that whenever you look at him with such tenderness and affection. It never fails to draw him in.
Closing his eye, savoring this moment, you did the same and sighed. Content, and Medkit planted a kiss on your forehead.
“Good night, Y/N…” he whispered. Almost afraid to break this tender moment. But not you.
You wrapped your arms around his torso, nuzzling him again as he just sighed and settled in bed with you already latched on to him again as he laid on his back while his arm wrapped around your back, pulling you closer to him.
You huffed a laugh before looking up at him again with those eyes that would look at him like he was your universe. “Sleep well…Medkit…” you yawned, getting comfortable beside him.
And just like that, slumber has claimed you. And, soon, Medkit too had fallen asleep. Relaxed and at peace with you snuggled by his side.
