Finished rifle sans sight, which adds 1.8 ounces.
In this âshoot from the hipâ configuration, I managed to break the 60 ounce mark. Pretty happy with that!

Here is a Stag bolt and a BCM cam pin, firing pin, and retainer.
Nothing too exciting to see here.
BCM Gunfighter MOD4 charging handle.
About 1/10th of an ounce heavier than a standard charging handle. But It is made out of 7075 aluminum and not 6061 like USGI, so it is significantly stronger and not much more expensive. Charging handles are't really known to fail and I won't be charging it with the bottom of my shoes, but it's still a nice piece to have.
Here's a cheapo thread protector I bought off ebay for $8, including shipping.
It's made of aluminum and considering it's price, it is pretty well made.
The listing was for a 10/22 thread protector, looking up ar-15 thread protectors only brought up 0.750" diameter pieces.
2 grams works out to be around 0.07 ounces, which is more or less nothing. The smallest muzzle device that I can find, the AAC single chamber brake, still weighs somewhere around 2 ounces.
Faxon 16" pencil barrel. It is the exact weight as advertised and I really like that.
Sorry it turned out blurry! Here's an Anderson slick side upper.Â
Not bad for $40!
Here's the complete lower receiver (in order of purchase):
Ace Arul rifle length stock DPMS buffer system with empty buffer Mag Tactical magnesium lower Magpul K grip New Frontier Armory polymer lower parts kit
I did start out with an Anderson lower and PSA lpk, but have moved them to an A1-ish or A2 build.
Game Review: Super Mario Galaxy
I cannot remember my expectations for this game, maybe a 7/10. I didn't have a huge interest in Mario games when I started playing it.
Review Plot: Princess Peach has been taken by Bowser again(!) and is being held captive in Space. The goal is to save her and defeat Bowser before he can create the ultimate galaxy. In order to save Peach, Mario must help Rosalina power her ship back up by collecting the Grand Stars from Bowser's terrible machines. 1/2
Characters: Mario, Peach, Bowser, and Bowser jr. all play the same roles as before. So it is pretty standard, nothing ground breaking. Luigi is given a little bit more of a role, especially on the second playthrough (some weird stuff happens, man). Captain Toad also has some adventures beyond his normal capacity. Rosalina is the main focus when it comes to character development. She is seen as a "Queen" of the little Lumas, and even has a book devoted to her in the game that is viewable as the game progresses. Only because of Rosalina (and Luigi in some respects): 2/2
Atmosphere: Simply amazing! The music is spot on with environments, the galaxies and planets are all unique, and the graphics are some of the best on the Wii. I love the idea of a central hub (think Super Mario 64) instead of a level select like the New Super Mario games. It unifies the game a little more. 2/2
Controls: Spot on. Hole-in-one controls. Everything is tight and well-organized. I cannot think of a single time when shaking the wiimote didn't spin Mario. If I messed up it was on me, not on the controls. 2/2
Value: Just playing the game is rewarding. Then there are extra challenges and difficult stars. Purple coin comets alone kept me playing and playing. Then once you collect 120 stars, Luigi is unlocked for a replay (for another 121 stars). It was worth every minute. 2/2
Overall score: 9/10
Personal Score: 10/10 The shortcomings of the plot are far surpassed by every other aspect of the game. It is tied for favorite game of all time on my list.
Video Game Rating Rubric
So, each section of rating can have a maximum of 2 points, with 2 being best, 1 being good, and 0 being not-good.
There are 5 categories: plot, characters, atmosphere, controls, and value.
Plot: Anything relating to the story telling. Is it cohesive? Does it gain my interest and keep it through? Of course, as with the other categories, this is based on expectations given, rather than compared to other games. Characters: Critiques on how the characters interact with each other and the player (me!). Atmosphere: This includes graphics, music, setting, and such into one category. This is also based on expectations. I can't give Super Mario 0 points just because its 8-bit graphics pale when sitting next to Super Mario 3D world. Controls: How does it feel to play? This category focuses on how the developers used the controller, menus, and battle systems. Value: I devote this section to stuff like play time, if it has replay value, and if it had side quests and extra goals.
With this grading outline, games can have a maximum of 10 points, and a minimum of 0.
Each review will also have an expectation grade. A grade that I give before playing the game. Very rarely will I play a game that doesn't interest me though, so expect maybe no less than a 6/10. I will explain a little on that.
Finally, I will give a less objective score based on feelings. Even if the game was 8/10, if I really really enjoyed it, this is where I would give a 10/10.
Build specifics:
I wanted to share exactly what my AR build consists of:
Lower: Mag Tactical Gen 4 stripped receiver New Frontier Armory lower parts kit DPMS rifle length receiver extension tube DPMS buffer tube (with weights removed) DPMS buffer spring Ace ARUL rifle length stock Total weight is 21.00 ounces (1.31 lbs)
Upper: Anderson No-FA stripped upper Faxon 16" pencil barrel, mid length gas system Whiskey Arms aluminum bolt carrier Stag Arms bolt BCM firing pin, cam pin, and pin clip BCM GF charging handle, mod 4 Total weight should be around 40 ounces.
The upper is not complete yet, here are a few things that are in the works: Carbon fiber hand guard mated to a free float barrel nut. This is being made by my father. It should hopefully be under 5 ounces when complete. BTE adjustable gas block, .625 diameter, clamp on. Spikes Tactical melonite gas tube. I don't need a melonite finish but it's $3 more that a regular gas tube and is more protective. Primary Arms reflex sight, 2 moa dot. At 1.9 ounces, it's lighter than iron sights. Lancer L5AWM translucent clear magazine, 10 rounds and 30 rounds. I like clear magazines.
First post.
Howdy, I'm TurboMG1 and I'm working on getting some stuff started up.
I'll mostly go through YouTube but I want to start here. Any drawings I make (and they will be poor to begin with) will be posted here.
So more updates coming soon! Hopefully!
