((This is your admiral speaking: I guess thinking of it now, Ki’s got a particularly nasty case of the infamous Abriel temper. She’s extremely quick to use physical violence, and she’s snippy with almost everyone except for her crew, and even then, there’s still a few people she gets snippy with there. Now, I haven’t read all the books yet, but I don’t think there’s anything in the text that suggests the Abriels resort to hitting people if they get mad enough. Grandmama Ramaj doesn’t look like the hitting type, after all, but even good looking folks end up being monsters in their private lives.

Of course, domestic violence was a long running issue in Ki’s family (it was only after her dad was born that her grandpa ended the cycle of abuse), which isn’t surprising given her mob family history. Whether that or the fact that her family was, basically, a bunch of inbred Abriels that can be traced back to this total shithead of a guy in the Nei Lamsar branch (yes, that does make her related to Dusanyu), contributed to her short temper (we’re talking like a timer of -1 instead of counting down from 10 here)... I dunno.

A lot of shit happened to her that could have made the Abriel temper rear its 8 ugly heads even fiercer than usual. She was picked on by her peers during her academy years, and she was further abused even more in the future back home by various exes, usually physically, verbally, and emotionally. And yes, I made up some janked up Abriel offshoot, because no one can stop me. :^) ))

((This is your admiral speaking: Technically speaking, i suppose Ki would be more of an Imperial noble, rather than full-on Imperial family member, when she finds out that she’s got the goods... but that’s assuming she’s like a normal Abh that would happily indulge in that status, and not like her family who’s historically despised the Imperial Family.))`

((This is your admiral speaking: Ya know, with the gender mistakes in not one, but two Abh characters (granted, the other is a novel-only character), it does beg the question if it’s rather common, or at least accepted, in Abh society to ID as bigender (most Abh men are rather androgynous, after all), or maybe some nonbinary gender. I know one of my Abh OCs do ID as agender, as an example, so I think it’s a valid question.))
