3² shuddered, baring it's teeth at the attackers. This was a terrible situation. He was in a dark alley, in a city he didn't recognize, without his little buddy, and out of ink as a group of Inklings had him cornered.
Unbeknownst to him, safety was closer than he thought.
¡ - â â @gaggle-of-agents
Behind him, there was a slight rustle, and the inklings looked up just as a torrent of ink rained down upon them, causing confusion and panic among their ranks.
It probably didnât help that none of them could actually see their assailant.
As soon as they heard the first splashes of ink, they close their eyes, flinching back and expecting the worst. All the assailants either ran or were knocked out in a matter of seconds, confused yells filling the alleyway.
Eventually, everything went quiet. But still, the inktoling was too scared to open her eyes. It quivered, barely registering the silence, the lack of goading voices.
They heard someone land in front of them.
Helix huffed and glanced around, making sure all the assailants had been dealt with. He was just going out for some fun technically illegal but not really weapon testing, and he saw⌠whatever this was. He looked back at 3.2, a slight frown on his face. âYou alright back there?â He was⌠very concerned.
He recognized Helix's voice almost immediately. Kind acquaintances tended to leave very good impressions on the cephalopod. He hesitantly opened his eyes, making eye contact with the shorter. âMngh... I'm, uh.. fine. Thanks a million, dude...!â
It tries to give him a grin, but it faltered due to the pain. Seems it was already pretty roughed up. She gripped her left arm with her right, tears almost threatening to form.
He turned, crouching down onto one knee. âYou sure? I have bandages!â They then began pulling out a frankly ridiculous amount of medical supplies. âAnd ointment, and ice, and pain relievers, and-â
It let out a tiny snort at the unnecessary amount of medical supplies. Before wincing in pain again. Ow. âO-okay, some help m-might be nice...â there was this dull pain all over her body, which grew sharper and much more intense at the points of injury.
Honestly, given the adrenaline and such, there was a good chance it wouldn't even be able to properly stand for a little while.
âMmmmmmhm.â He got to work, bandaging them up gently yet efficiently. âThat shoullllddd be all.â He hesitated for a moment, then gently, carefully, picked them up bridal style. âLetâs go!â
It smiled as he did his work, feeling surprised at his generosity. she felt as though she didn't deserve it. Once he finished, it opened it's mouth to speak... Before getting picked up. Oh! Well... That was a shocker- âThanks again, but Where are we Going??â It sounded both amused and a little bit worried.
âI mean⌠I live like, a block away, so.â He shrugged a bit (carefully).
He walked smoothly over to the side-entrance of one of the buildings, slightly awkwardly opening it and going inside.

Still screaming at the fact that 3², someone who is just a little over half helix's age, has an entire foot on him in height
((Me when my young friends are like a foot taller than me (Iâm almost as short as HELIX man,,)

Helix yawned and stretched as he woke, squinting at the⌠sun?
He sat up, blinking the sleep out of his eyes as he looked around. He. He was in the desert. Sand as far as the eye could see. Fuck. - @turf-war-tuesday
Thankfully(?), It seemed he wasn't alone. On a large rock formation above him, a silhouetted figure looked down at him.
âOof yeah that woulda been bad.â Beinâ in a whole new place without your pal was a pretty not good scenario he thinks.
Helix sits down as well, smiling at the lil mans.
âNo kidding.â the trio began to descend, the sky above them getting darker both from them going lower, and the Sun setting. 3² looked up. âseems we got lucky with our timing. It's not particularly fun being caught outside at night 'round here.â
Helix hummed in agreement and glanced up as well. He is. A bit worried about that statement, but- they are now safe, apparently, so he isnât too worried. Man, I wish I had my brushâŚ
As they slowly descended, the dim light from the surface faded. If helix squinted, he could begin to see some faint light coming from below, as well as voices.
He gazed over the edge, leaning over a bit. âOooâŚâ Neat! And there were people..? Probably th⌠wait did he know their name-? âI. Just realized I never actually asked your name-â
At the name question, they blinked, before shifting their eyes to the side for a moment. Eventually, they went back to looking at them, and gave a little smile. âHeh. Call me Agent Three. What about you, stranger?â
âHuh. Neat.â A secret code name or something, he vibes with that. Very mysterious. âIâm Helix!â
He glanced back down at the approaching light. âSoooo, thereâs other people here? Friends?â He assumed they were her friends, or co-workers or something.
âNice to put a name to the face, Helix.â she smirked, leaning back slightly. At his question, she nodded. âMmmhm. Friends, coworkers, partners in crime... You could call us a lotta things. They're all really fuckin', cool though.â
He grinned. âWell I look forwards to meeting them! If you think theyâre cool, then they gotta be really cool.â He winked, sitting back down again. They liked this little dude. It had good vibes.

Thankfully(?), It seemed he wasn't alone. On a large rock formation above him, a silhouetted figure looked down at him.
He stopped for a moment when Helix did, crouching down to also look at their son- travelling companion. âHe really is. Very talented, if ya ask me.â he's really out here inventing serotonin, huh
Helix nodded along, picking little buddy up gently. Like egg. âTruly the best of boys.â More pats for the lad.
âHeh. Indeed.â The bestest boy, mayhaps. The boy of all time. Eventually, the two did get a move-on again. They still had a long way to go to splatsville.
He held the lil mans in his arms, giving him some pats, and letting him jump off if he wanted. He looked around, trying to pass the time, and noticed. It was getting darkâŚ
Little buddy made a bunch of happy little noises, very happy with this.
It wasn't long until 3² noticed as well. âHm. We aren't gonna make it there by sundown at this rate.â It growled slightly, before getting an idea. âBut... I may happen to know a shortcut close by. But ya gotta promise not to tell anyone. Got it?â
He is being absolutely spoiled. Limtle fishy.
âUh.. sure?â He was already used to hiding, whatâs one more secret? He didnât have too many people to tell anyways.
âGreat. C'mon, It should be this way.â They changed direction, gesturing for Helix to follow.
And he be followin! Wonder whatâs so special they want to keep it a secret..? Was it a lil house they made, somewhere with valuables, or maybe an interesting place they donât want ruined by tons of company? Well, in any case, he would know soon.
Eventually, they reached The Holeâ˘, with a pulley-esque system to the bottom. The sun was slowly starting to set. Upon looking at it, 3² blinked. â... You know, it never occurred to me how suspicious the entrance to this place would be to people who didn't know it until like, 3 seconds ago.â
Despite her hesitation, little buddy ran up and sat on the platform, waiting for the other two to follow suit. It was like it had done this time and time again
âEheh, yeah, that does kinda look like a death pit tbh.â Well⌠they wouldnât have let the lil guy on if it wasnât safe. And, with that thought, Helix stepped onto the platform, holding the edge a little tighter than he needed to.
âtrust me, that's what I thought it was the first time I fell into it. I'd say it was a miracle that I didn't break any bones, but us inklings and octos don't have any.â they chuckled, getting onto the platform.
There were railings around the side of the platform, thankfully. They were about to press the button that would presumably cause them to start descending, turning back for a moment to look at the much shorter man. âYou ready?â
The first time they fell-? âPff- Yeah, the benefits of being jelly I suppose.â He gave them a thunbs up. Hell yeah letâs go into the murder pit. He jests. Mostly.
âIndeed. I'm lucky little buddy 'n I didn't get separated in the chaos.â They press the button and sit down in the middle of the platform criss-cross. Little buddy nestles into their lap, and they pet and scritch the salmonid.
âOof yeah that woulda been bad.â Beinâ in a whole new place without your pal was a pretty not good scenario he thinks.
