From the architect: "The space is based within the headquarters of an international shoe brand’s distributor company in Turkey and casual shoes are exhibited in this space. The showroom is used for presentation of season products to the dealer agents by the sales representatives of the brand, in order cycles."
"Irrational plan of existing space was not convenient for the ‘’main volume’’ feeling that aspired to be created in accordance with the use case of the space.
Also, because of having the main circulation-terrace connection of the building on this floor, expectation of concentration while using would be harmed. In accordance with these inputs, the space is divided with a separator wall to a main volume that holds the meeting table in the center and to a circulation axis that left behind by the wall and a smaller exhibition space integrated to that axis.
Casual category of the brand products that appeal to an active, comfortable and urban life style, served a reference for gathering familiar components which form a platform for daily life activities. Decisions about the materials, designs of the exhibition units used for specialized product groups and movable furniture selections took shape within this approach.
There were different sub product groups in casual category of the brand which vary by classification and count every season. A modular and dynamic shelf system is designed that provides opportunity for sales representatives to organize their exhibition styles by classifying products in an easy and flexible way, and so as to present variability according to different customers, in order cycles.
This system creates a pattern on wide side in main volume of the space, even when there are no products or fully loaded. System is created by mounting solid wood pieces which can stay closed and open, to interior wall with a simple mechanism that can turn pivot in front of the wall.
This system, which can also used with the purpose of separating selected/non-selected products by the visitors, strengthen user-space relation from the point of providing opportunity to interactive use. This shelf system is repeated with a variation that creates a semipermeable situation on line of the divider wall which surrounds the main volume. The space gained transparency with this variation at the rate of intensity in closed and open position of wood pieces."

From the architect: "Flatofis is a project where a building previously designed solely as a shopping center is converted into an office building. The client who decided that transformation when the R/C structure of the project was completed, arranged a limited project competition. The most important problem to be solved was bringing the building of which the whole structural system was set up according to shopping center requirements into a form fit for office functions with least intervention.”
From the architect: “Since a shopping center does not need light, the whole load bearing structural wall system lies on the exterior façade of the building. This does not satisfy the light needs of an Office building. Our proposal was instead of knocking down the whole structural wall system, to create interior façades forming three large interior light shafts cutting the building vertically. These three interior yards were designed in three different concepts (Aqua Court, Terra Court and Sera Court). These created both interior spaces that are architecturally rich with natural lighting from the roof also offering the user a relaxation environment. The building also accommodates spaces with side functions like food and beverage, fitness and conference halls for office uses."
From the architect: "The building is planned as a “communication medium” for the users. The relation between interior and exterior spaces defines ways of communication between the users and the community, as well as strengthening the relation among its users by creating a social working space.
The plan scheme of the building helped to isolate the unfavorable effects of the surrounding environment, and also, provided openings to the important axis of approach and existing greenery on the south façade.
Especially, on the ground level, the recessed curved-wall leading to the main entrance and a transparent curtain wall connecting to an exhibition hall serve to enrich the urban life experience.
The building with a courtyard, reminiscent of a caravanserai, is an interpretation of the cultural heritage of Anatolia is to a contemporary working environment. The courtyard, as one of the main elements of the design, is configured to make users feel the changing effects of light and sky with dynamic geometries and material choices."
