Sure, a few [athletes] stand out and are very smart (Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks could mention tiny muscles as if he was reading off an anatomy chart), but they are the exception.

this is hockey, baby. this is the playoffs. (x)
posting this because playoffs.
JONATHAN TOEWS & REMEMBER THE NAME FJDKSGHKLDJFKS. This is so perfect that I literally didn't know what to do with myself for a few minutes. You are brilliant! :)
thank you so much! gotta admit, i was really inspired by the countless variations i'd encountered of his name in articles and blogs: towes/toes/taves/toewser (wtf?!) it got a little absurd there :D:
"[Jonathan Toews is] excellent in volunteering to run down and get me a bottle of water," said [Shane] Doan, who cracks the whip with a smile. "He makes sure everyone gets to eat before him. He's never on the elevator first and if he is on with me he makes sure I don't have to break stride when I walk into my room, that the door is open. Stuff like that."
Youngster Toews is playing with the big boys at world championship [Edmonton Journal, 2007] posting this for reasons.
originally this was just going to be a simple nook screensaver referencing fort minor & styles of beyond - remember the name, but i, uh, got carried away? (though i managed to restrain myself from deviating from my original plan and putting in rubbish stats like 60% ass 40% thighs/100% game face/45% plaid/10% playoff beard /good job self)

a screensaver i made for my nook touch, hence the size and lack of color. featuring lt. nate fick and his m16 rifle, from the hbo miniseries generation kill.
finished reading grant morrison's DOIN DRUGS AND MAKIN COMICS: A PERSONAL HISTORY supergods and was momentarily overwhelmed by how much i adored his and frank quitely's all-star superman. my note for this book reads, in part: "recommended if you find yourself watching superman returns one sunday afternoon and judging yourself but unable to help it because it's SUPERMAN OK you want a hug from superman and you want to hug clark kent LET'S HUG IT OUT WHILE BATMAN BROODS ON A DISTANT ROOFTOP."
They fuck you up, your mum and dad. They may not mean to, but they do. They fill you with the faults they had And add some extra, just for you.

wow. I knew it was you. I've been reading your works since fucking first year highschool. so yeah are you gonna go through with law? because honestly my dearest rachel, law will destroy any sense of creativity you have. and I'm too much of a fan to let that happen. But yeah. :) *hug* I MISSSSSSSSSSSSSSS YOUUUUUUUUUU!!!!
yeah, i'm going through with law :) the way things are going, law school is among the least of the things bound to kill whatever creativity i have. but thank you for the kind words! i miss you too, dude. we should hang out sometime soon :D
big spoon or little spoon?

A marginally-related excerpt from The Adventure of the Creeping Man:
The relations between us in those latter days were peculiar. He was a man of habits, narrow and concentrated habits, and I had become one of them. As an institution I was like the violin, the shag tobacco, the old black pipe, the index books, and others perhaps less excusable. When it was a case of active work and a comrade was needed upon whose nerve he could place some reliance, my role was obvious. But apart from this I had uses. I was a whetstone for his mind. I stimulated him. He liked to think aloud in my presence. His remarks could hardly be said to be made to me — many of them would have been as appropriately addressed to his bedstead — but none the less, having formed the habit, it had become in some way helpful that I should register and interject. If I irritated him by a certain methodical slowness in my mentality, that irritation served only to make his own flame-like intuitions and impressions flash up the more vividly and swiftly. Such was my humble role in our alliance.
