Sometimes writing songs is like waiting in for deliveries. They give you a window, and your washing machine is going to show up, whether the window is the album or something you’re thinking like, “This thing is going to come to me.” But on the other hand, you can’t just sit around and wait. You have to just do it and get it wrong sometimes in order to advance. I’ve had a lot of practice with that now. And that’s me usually sitting or standing or pacing around or whatever, but it’s all an internal tussle.
