lot of people commenting on this post like "who eats lunch at 4pm that's a terrible time to eat lunch" yes. that is the point. 4pm lunch is inadvisable. 4pm lunch is not the ideal. 4pm lunch makes the mind demons real.

CERTAIN AS THE SUN

a madatobi beauty and the beast au, for @mdtb-bb 2026 ♥️ i worked with the awesome @sarcasticfoxy whose art can be found here !!

Hashirama just shrugs, a sad, resigned half-smile on his face as Madara says, “He took one of my roses.”

Something wells in Tobirama’s throat. “Anija…” he whispers. Hashirama reaches out and brushes their knuckles together.

“Anything for you, Tobi,” he says. Tobirama’s heart clenches. Anything for you.

“I presume a sincere apology will not suffice,” Tobirama says, finally looking back at Madara, who snorts.

“Your brother has beaten that horse to death,” he says. “No. It will not.”

“Fine,” Tobirama says, meeting Madara’s eyes and steeling himself. “Then I offer myself in his place.”

“What?!” Hashirama demands, outraged. “Otouto! No!”

“Brother,” Hashirama said, stopping their progression. Izuna stilled at his side, Tobirama turned smoothly towards him, having long expected this interruption. He was rather surprised his cloak had worked for this long. “You know I can’t let you leave with him.” “You can,” he said. “I can’t,” Hashirama said. “You can,” Tobirama said, “If you decide you can.” It was the truth, there was nothing Hashirama couldn’t do. Just things he had decided he wouldn’t do. Just as well. Someone had to place limits on Hashirama. They would all be worse off, otherwise. “And why would I decide to let this happen?” Hashirama said. “When so many others have tried?” Izuna made no noise, which Tobirama appreciated. He withdrew the last item from his cloak, a small silk bag. He opened the string, and polished dice fell into his hand. They floated gently above his palm, gleaming in the firelight of the passage. “Because I’ll play you for it.”
