Okay its not really a pet peeve of mine, but I do think it is wasted potential whenever people brush over Ford calling Stan his "baby brother" or "younger twin" or whatever, because twins don't really DO that, unless of course, they are trying to be a little shit.

And Ford. Ford is a master at using that card.

Yes I get the angst hurt/comfort appeal of Ford going "thats my baby brother!" But consider instead, he only brings up the order of their birth SPECIFICALLY to piss Stan off.

Does Ford want dibs on something? Oldest gets first pick.

They're having a petty argument? Well, I'm the oldest so I'm right.

Even when Ford IS being sweet about something, making food or doing literally anything, he will manage to slip in a Don't Worry about it Stanley, that's just what Older Brothers do.

It drives Stan up the wall.

You guys ever rage bait your sibling? Ford is a MASTER. Ford has a PHD in slipping things into conversation just to make Stan mad enough to enact physical violence. Ford will say "When I was your age," and describe what he did 15 minutes ago. Ford will say his line, and then hold his face completely still as Stan's blood pressure rises. Its his favorite pastime.

Im just saying, use the younger/older brother stuff in fics, just ALSO use it in the way people use it, which is to drive your younger sibling into such a blind rage that they throw you off your shared boat straight into the coast of Greece because "Poindexter I swear, I will burn all your turtlenecks."

After a while I could also imagine Stan turning this on its head when the rage has cooled off a bit

Like they are at the movie theater or something and he goes "my older brother will need the senior discount please" or they buy medicine and he'll go up to the pharmacist and be like "can old people use this cream? My older brother has this nasty rash, very unpleasant" or he'll call a boy scout over and ask him to help Ford across the street cause he's so much older

Just sometimes when Ford goes "when I was your age" Stan will listen calmly and counter "man, I hope I'll still be in such good shape when I reach your age"

CALLING A BOY SCOUT OVER TO HELP FORD CROSS THE STREET IS DIABOLICAL. THATS FOUL. EVIL. UTTERLY ON BRAND.

The thing is Ford can't exactly REFUSE help, can he? He's a softie at heart and this boy scout is SO earnest and SO adorable and wants to help SO MUCH that Ford crumbles instantly. He walks very slowly and with a shuffle completely on purpose across the street despite the fact that YESTERDAY he was jumping over the ships bow to stab a harpoon into a Kraken. He plays the part of the helpless old man. For the kid. Its not like, he reasons, its not like anyone is going to SEE him.

And then he looks up and Stan is kneeling across the street with the very expensive, very high tech camera they spend far too much money on that's only purpose is to take extremely high quality pictures of anomalies with. Stan is grinning wide enough that Ford can see it from the distance. And in that moment Ford knows that Stan has a stop motion feature films worth of shots of him being gently led across the street by a chubby cheeked boy scout while shuffling his feet like an invalid.

He never does manage to delete all of them. Stan gets them printed as postcards and uses them exclusively to write to the kids for months.

Little boy is telling his troop about this really nice old guy who is staying in their coastal town with his younger brother and boat for a few weeks and who is clearly very frail and needs their help so the whole troop more or less adopts the old man by the sea (hah) and knock on their door whenever they can and help him carry his equipment when he goes to the beach to look for that mystical sea monster which is terribly exciting but obviously the ravings of a senile old man but oh well, as long as the grandpa has fun

Stan does not grow jealous of Ford and his adorable scout ducklings, be does not!

lol the expressions here are delightful; Nicole's profoundly satisfied grin is the obvious highlight, but I also really love the way Sal's eyes bug out of her face, it's impressive how well you give her such a big cartoony reaction without, like, "breaking" the design, y'know?
