I think kendrick lamar is like the modern day Shakespeare in that they both write things that are wonderfully poetic, complex & deep, with extremely clever wordplay, weaving together cultural references that can only be immediately understood by those with a similar background, they both had beef with their competitors and came out on top, and I need to go on the internet and look up a line by line breakdown every time I read something new by either of them. That said I think Kendrick Lamar could have done "The oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely / The pangs of despised love, the law's delay /The insolence of office and the spurns / That patient merit of the unworthy takes" but Shakespeare couldn't have done "Certified boogeyman, I’m the one that up the score with ’em / Walk him down, whole time, I know he got some ho in him / Pole on him, extort shit, bully Death Row on him"

I need fewer online friends and more offline friends. It's a feeling I've had for a long, long time.

Kinda hard, though, when eeeeeverybody my age in my neck of the woods has kids. Some of 'em got grandkids, even. Like, damn. Y'all be out here, like this, in this economy.

And you can totally tell, too, who wanted kids, and who really fuckin' didn't. I'm fortunate. I got to say no. I shoot blanks.

Anyway. I miss people. I miss a good rager. When I was in my twenties, I had friends in their thirties who were still wildin'. And now that I'm in my thirties, living my best life... fucking crickets, man.

Everything really dried up after COVID, didn't it? Live music is dying, and gayer live music is dying even faster, unless you're in a small handful of cities where can't nobody pay the rent.

I'm just kvetching. I'm still two hours from Atlanta, and less than two hours from Huntsville. I can buy a round of drinks, I got it better than so many people. I just wish someone else could drive, for once.
