RAMBLINGS ON WAKE UP DEAD MAN

💐the scenery. wow. as soon as i started watching (especially those scenes with father Jud in the forest!!) were beautiful. and i especially loved the last scene with the beautifully decorated altar and alll of the sun rays descending on it i could've cried. speaking of light the natural vs artifical light GAGGED me. it was really interesting to see how beautiful WUDM was in ways that Knives Out and Glass Onion were- and how thats probably intentional.

🌷i love the difference in what eve's apple does to Wick and Father Jud. while im unsure if Wicks was told the whole backstory (grandpa swallowed a diamond like an absolute lemon), but his greed and thirst for power ( it stuck with me that in his 'trying to put off father jud' confession we're introduced to how Wick wants power similar to his grandpa) makes him turn away from the flock that he groomed to turn to no one but him. while on the hand, eve's apple and the story of Grace, push him to care even more for his flock, and he isnt tempted by the diamond like Wick or Hawkeye, because he has everything he wants in his reach (love, community)- he wants for things that can be nurtured!!

🌻something else I noticed is how the church changed. it was very much dark and medieval with Wicks, with an always closed door. But! with Father Jud, the church is bright and warm, filled with love (woodworked crucifix) and life (flowers) AND the door is always open and Father Jud was welcoming to the couple. And Im under the impression je wouldn't use that atand(?) that Wick used. Wick was above his congregation and 'closer to the sky' (an ode to him thinking he the second coming Jesus) and I think Father Jud would take a more traditional stand, not one that is sooo extravagantly large.
