finally drew out my human HCs for hahli and jaller :> I don't really have human designs in mind for any other characters, just these two have been stuck in my head forever hehe

sorry the outfits are so ass lol, I can't fashion design to save my life so it ended up being "bodysuits vaguely based on their armor designs" (...I guess I could've drawn them with their actual canon armor as their clothes but. was too lazy for that ^^;)

didn't have time to character-ify most of the rest of them but they were a lot of fun regardless, some great poses in this last batch lol.

big thanks to adorkastock & all the models for this challenge! i haven't done much figure drawing in a good long while, a couple weeks in i could really start to feel the benefit of Drawing Actual Real Humans again haha

totally slept on xiao pai in my first playthrough but she's actually the best T_T i love how she's "the klutz" but also is pretty grounded and self aware, just Can Not Stop Fucking Things Up (a bit too relatable)

#rune factory 4 #rf4 frey #rf4 lest #rf4 margaret #draw everything june #finally a batch post that looks somewhat cohesive haha #holding myself back from spending so much time on rendering/lighting means i can turn more of these into characters which is fun #or maybe it's the other way around lol #i really like how rf4 gives the player character some personality instead of just being “you”#def one of my top farming-type games on account of how lively the characters and dialogue are #especially the relationships between people in the town‚ it's something that can easily fall flat in this type of game i feel #admittedly was a little put off the series when i looked up past games characters #and saw that out of the handful of brown girls two of them (which is like. half of them) are maids #(one of whom used to be queen of the elves and chose to come be a maid in the human world instead? i'm. not sure if that's better or worse)#idk i understand the connotations and history are different in japan vs my country (US)#and like i'm white it's maybe not really my place to judge the quality of the representation here. i just felt weird about it lol #on another note though it was really neat to hear how open the devs were to adjusting the marriage mechanics in 5 after the #localization team brought it up #& apparently in the newest game there is a new lady who is neither a maid nor Wolf Girl Who Speaks Wolf Language so that's cool #...“struggles with anything requiring brains instead of brawn” oh... ok. 😭 she seems cute though #anyway thanks for reading my ted talk again sorry if i said anything out of my lane #i feel like i either write nothing in the tags or a massive essay of every thought i've ever had while drawing the picture lmao #in conclusion. i think rf4 is my fave in the genre for characters #and sv is top for overall aesthetic/feeling of the seasons (especially music + ambient sound)#both also great in terms of gameplay & QoL

#draw everything june #melody hxh #hunter x hunter #for anyone coming here from dej please let me introduce you to my dear beloved melody/senritsu from hunter x hunter #got cursed when her friend played the devil's sonata and now is on a quest to destroy the sheet music so no one else suffers like they did #in order to do this she joined the mafia. as one does. and became buddies with main character who also joined the mafia for revenge purpose #is a side character from early on but returns in the current arc and gets her own little side arc which has been great #i worry cause she's currently in a dangerous situation and hxh does not shy away from killing beloved side characters #however i have reason to believe that whatever happens to her is going to be thematically badass even if it does make my heart hurt #also this is to some extent a limitation of my own experience but #she's like the only fat character i can think of where her being fat truly isn't relevant to the story at all #isn't joked about visually or otherwise and just doesn't really come up at all #(it's implied the curse changed her appearance but never specifies that her size is part of that - i like to think she was always chubby)#hxh like many shounen can be hit and miss when it comes to writing women (much improvement in recent years though) so it's a really #pleasant surprise how senritsu was handled imo #anyway thanks for reading my ted (tag) talk 🙏#hxh #senritsu #i didn't draw her arms with ashitaka-style markings like usual since the reference already had pretty strong lighting #& i wanted to focus on drawing that without further complicating it and hurting my brain lol #i drew the shadows a bit strong and roughly rendered though so it accidentally gives a vaguely similar effect

turning these into characters is so much fun but I quickly realized is not sustainable for me to do every day if I actually want to finish this challenge haha (which I do! ...as usual, we'll see how long that lasts 😅), so I decided I'll mix it up between character drawings, and sketches/studies straight from the reference with varying levels of detail

Filtered Tags: hides any post with a given tag (has to match exactly)

Filtered Post Content: will hide a post if the filtered word/phrase appears anywhere inside it (...except in the tags. which can be a little annoying)

It's not perfect, but it is a whole lot more likely to improve your experience than complaining about strangers on the internet is one tool to help see fewer things that bother you 🙂)
