5 ideas to keep le cos page alive for winter
Cosplay and Winter
So! Winter is coming. And as we all know, for us, cosplayers, winter is a really sad period of the year when the warm weather that was letting us cosplay, photoshoot and create whatever we wanted during summer is GONE. And for long if you’re a North American cosplayer (dammit Canada!) You can already tell it just by looking at the title but this article will be about ideas, tips and tricks to keep your cosplay page alive during winter,
my next article will be in the same theme but about Photoshoot outside
during cold weather and how to motivate yourself with this sad weather of
the year if you’re an exotic animal like me that just enjoys hot weathers so
much.
How to keep your cosplay page alive during winter
Try inside photoshoot
From this point, you have three choices, either you go all the way and buy a studio, or you find a beautiful inside place to take pictures, or, you create your own studio out of scratch!
How to create your own little studio:
What you need: A huge piece of fabric of the color you want that will serve as a background Pins for walls A wall, preferably with good natural lighting (in front of a window) or artificial lighting if you manage to create it with flashlights, and other home lighting sources), use assistant to hold the lights the way you want them to be A camera or any decent machine that takes pictures (with today’s Iphone’s photo quality, you can do awesome shit without a professional camera) Steps:
Pin the fabric to the chosen wall
2. Enjoy
Taking pictures tips if you’re going to do this solo:
Try thinking about buying a remote to control the camera while being the model at the same time. Example of what you can do solo with the remote:
You can also find studio photoshoot idea online just by looking on google image! Be creative!
Idea of inside places in Montreal to photoshoot
1- Le Centre des commerces mondial
2- Montreal Undergrounds
3- Try asking a church if you can take a few pictures inside (yes sometimes they agree)
4- The St-Ambroise Castle
5- Try, with the agreement of the owners, taking pictures on a skating rink
6- Restaurant (sometimes they have beautiful ambiance when you can capture great pictures)
These are a few ideas, let me know in the comment if you have more! It's really hard to find places to photoshoot during winter since everything in 2016 is private and that you're not allowed to photograph everywhere, I find this kinda dumb but hey, we can always sneaky sneak ;)
Try making written Tutorials and video tutorial
Be confident! You don't need an high quality video equipment to share your knowledge about a certain subject! If you do, go for it, but never restrain yourself from sharing your experience with others just because you don't have the perfect material to do it, because content matters even more than good looking images. Sharing can be either on a blog, writing, visualy via pictures or videos!
BLOG!
Be creative, try doing something else then cosplay that is related or not, it can be artsy, informative etc. Show the world who you are and the potential you can unleashe
Make cosplay showcases !
Again, you don't need a whole camera crew to create entertaining videos for your public, make funny, mystical, magic etc. videos that will inspire others and immortalize in movement your work!
Plan next year!
Sharing your cosplay project with others is quite exciting, everyone has their own projects and ideas, together, we can inspire others with new ideas, improvement and winter is a great moment to just the take a break from the fast and demanding convention schedule and just think about what we want to do. I hope that you appreciated this small article! I will be making more during winter and try to give you guys content everyday :)
