you could say this is NO BETA WE ABSTRACT LIKE THE LEFT ALONE CHARACTERS but it would foreshadow what im about to say (and also mention of suicide at the end of this)
in ep6, when Jax starts yelling at Pomni he says this:
"Are you seriously gonna blame me for something that everybody else did too?"
it made me think. hard. cause wdym "everybody else did too"? what did they do? what does it mean?
now, english aint my first language so i might interpret this wrong. but from what i learned in my english classes, him saying this as in "everybody else also blamed me for the abstraction of ribbit" doesnt make sense. like the very sentence, the respond to that doesnt really add up. remember, Pomni said:
"Have you ever thought that this might be what causes people to abstract in the first place?"
And Jax respond didn't start with his next line:
"You don't even know how people are like before they abstract!"
"Are you seriously gonna blame me for something that everybody else did too?"
which is just weird to me. like in my mind this doesnt mean "youre blaming me for something, and everybody else also blamed me for it". its more like "youre blaming me for something everybody else did" which make it sounds like hes not the only person who "caused abstraction". and the fact Kaufmo funeral was brought up right before this is just weird.
so, maybe he only caused Ribbits abstraction? or only Kaufmos?
or maybe he just was close with them, and he wasnt the reason they abstracted? what if the blame is on everyone, not just Jax? because of course, he could have "corrupted" them as Ragatha said, but if he knows how people are like before they abstract....
"They are NOT pleasant to be around, like at all!"
he knows what its like to be unpleasant to somebody. i mean of course he knows. in the whole scene he shows signs that he is aware of how he is, which is literally confirmed right after his monologue, where his expression shows he does know whats up.
and everyone turned his back on him long ago. now, this is just speculation, but i believe abstraction starts slow. the only thing backing me up here is the fact before Kaufmos abstraction, he was increasingly more obsessed with the exit. it could mean a lot, but i think it means right when the first thought of exit came to Kaufmos mind, the abstraction begun (is that the right spelling of the past tense to begin? ššš)
all that to say, Jax was meant to abstract. he is abstracting since the first time we see him. he started to abstract even before Pomni was in the circus.
his abstraction started when Ribbit abstracted, and he was since then exposed to abstraction twice, and it was too much for him to lose his best friend, and he started obsessing with the whole "archetypes" thing, and how, in his words, "none of this is real".
and BECAUSE abstracting people arent pleasant to be around, he was the only one who was with Ribbit, and i wanna speculate Kaufmo, to the very end. because he knows what its like to be unpleasant. because he, to his core, is a bit of a jerk, and it only got worse as time goes on and hes abstracting. because the people who are around others, do not abstract. they dont show any signs of abstraction. he didnt show up to Kaufmos funeral, because he saw it as "fake friends mourning a person who they didnt even care about at the end". thats why he says "everybody else did too". they were also the cause of Kaufmo, or maybe even Ribbit, abstracting. probably Queenie too, but she stayed with Kinger till the very end.
thats why he pushes Pomni away. not only he doesnt want her to feel the pain of a close friend abstracting, he wants to abstract. he wants to be gone. i mean, his first thought to avoid the whole conversation with Pomni, was to make her shoot him. make her get rid of him, so he doesnt have to talk about himself. his whole coing mechanism is just escaping the inevitable. so he sees abstraction as his escape, his pass to freedom and peacefulness, his way to avoid talking about his pain he so carefully tries to hide.
abstraction is a parallel to suicide. suicide is often, in the mind of mentally unstable human, a way to escape the pain of the real world, real life. so for Jax, if endong up in the digital circus isnt enough to escape it, he prefers abstraction (killing himself). thats why he pushes Pomni away. because having people around him, he might not abstract (as i said before, everyone else in the circus doesnt show signs of abstractionbecause they are "likeable").
all that to say i AM NOT trying to defend Jax and blame everybody else š
okay, now let me just say, all of this is just theory, speculation, and a bit of theorizing as i go on. but i thought this might be an interesting perspective š lemme know what u think of this in the comments
pls reblog i wanna be famous and i want ppl calling me smart lmaoššššš
