What's funny is that you would think perseverance and determination go hand in hand but-- apparently not? dsgkhsdgk I think that's because Tenna is a very weaselly + emotionally sensitive character, and so he flakes out of difficult situations quite shamelessly, but just because he runs away doesn't mean he doesn't stubbornly keep trying the same scheme from a different angle. And that is literally how you describe a cartoon conman i guess, so that checks out lmao ]]

[[ Tenna has the most selective of selective empathy istg. I think what makes him so easy to mistake for a purely nice person is that once he decides he likes you he IS a nice person... to YOU, sometimes excessively so, he even appears to be deeply empathetic-- which he is capable of being, but when you're just a stranger to him? He couldn't care less what happens to you lmao.

This can cause people to get an extremely different impression of him depending on how he first approaches you-- its why he's so hard to read in game unless you actively go looking for instances where he wasn't as nice as he seems. Because the truth is-- he's often quite awful to some people. One of his defining traits is that he tricked his entire world into servitude with sleazy contracts, this is not a morally good man and a part of him knows that. But he's full of SO much genuine love for some things and utter apathy and indifference for other things, it can come across as a little alien. He isn't principally good hearted-- in fact, he... kinda has no principles at all. His priorities are not normal-- his greatest concern in life, in existence, is entertaining the lightners and being well liked. Which I think is rooted in his disassociation from his mostly fictional reality but also-- .... He's a personified TV lmao. There's a kind of nihilism in his world view if you look at it from a human perspective, but he isn't a human. That's why, if you were to pluck him out of the dark world and into the light he'd be... a little dangerous. He lacks a normal sense of wrong and right and would noticeably struggle to take consequences seriously. He's used to everything being fake, he's made from fiction.

All this is to say-- the best way to get Tenna to behave, if he's doing something morally wrong, is to simply be someone he already likes and ask him to behave himself. The only issue is he won't do it because he cares that he's doing the right thing, he'll do it because he cares about you. And......... to some extent you can kiiiiinda tell that's the real reason he's doing it? Like he doesn't actually understand what's wrong with that behavior so he doesn't know what he's apologizing for. But he'll try real hard for ya lmao. ]]

IMAGINE IT full size, full power, functioning magic, its as though the single most eccentric and eye-catching darkner that could have manifested practically glitched his character into the overworld, a tiny country town. The TV just.... stands up one day. SDGHKJSDKGS He can talk to Toriel!! He can visit Rudy in the hospital! He's a real! life! Giant dancing, singing robot and he's far too excited to care if you're confused why he's so happy to see you!!!

He's officially Kris and Susie's problem. And Noelle. Well-- probably the whole town, and then the whole human world if he escapes containment lmao.

As soon as his hands came to gently hold her face, she leaned into the touch, sniffling and crying further from the affection. Even if it did soothe her, being comforted by him made her feel so happy and heard that the tears kept coming.

She held onto his hands, much smaller ones holding onto them like she was holding onto life, nodding at his words with a weak little whimper.

* O-Okay...o-okay, yeah...you...you mean everything to me, too...

The blonde assured, a little more calm now that he swore that he did truly love her. Though as soon as those last words left her lips, regret immediately filled her senses, seeing him shrink to half of her size and stumbling back onto the ground.

Immediately, she started to crouch to meet his height, ignoring how unnatural it felt. She wished she had never said anything...

And the second Tenna started hitting his head, she gasped out, feeling a jolt of pain in her heart like if someone had stabbed her.

* Tenna!!!

The blonde called out, gently taking his small hands in her own to prevent him from hitting himself again.

* Please...please don't do that again...d-don't...don't hurt yourself...please...

The tears came again, dribbling down her cheeks as she shook her head. Guilt pooled in her stomach, shaking her head as she started apologizing for the stupid words she had just said.

* I'm sorry, I'm sorry!! I-It's not...p-please don't blame yourself, i-it's just...it's just me. I-I get...I start overthinking and...I-I don't wanna make you feel like you can't talk to me about how you feel...

A few sobs left her lips some more, gently picking him up and cradling her to her chest.

Sniffling, she gently pet him with one of her hands, sitting down on the floor again while she kept holding him close. A few kisses were delivered to his screen, trying to comfort him like she wasn't the one comforted a minute ago.

* My sweet little hubby...you're the single, most amazing thing that ever happened to me...I feel so lucky to be with you...a-and I can't wait to get married...forever...

But when she starts apologizing, her voice trembling with so much emotion it wrenches his heart, he looks up at her again, his little gloves holding her tightly back. " So y-you're not... you're not mad? " He squeaks out, but once he's pulled in close now even he was beginning to produce liquid static from where his eyes would be, building on his screen and threatening to roll down the glass. His hold becomes a cling, to her arms, to anywhere in reach, curling himself up into her lap.

Not simply to be held-- he was practically trying to give himself to her. As if, perhaps, if he was only small enough to hold in her arms she would feel how much he needed her and wouldn't let him go. As they pet and reassure him, its like he just can't get close enough. " ... Sophie... truth is, I've had thoughts like that, too. It feels... terrible. The thought that I maybe made ya feel somethin' I know hurts, I just... I wanna make the feeling stop! But... I just realized... I... never figured out how to stop it, myself. " He uncurls some, sitting up to tenderly kiss her still salty face, but soon he reaches up and wraps his arms around her shoulders, best his little form can, hugging her tightly. " Maybe I can't make it stop, but... every time you get scared you let me know-- even if it shrinks me down to teddy bear size. " He squeezes them, some of his playfulness returning to his tone. " 'Cause you can just scoop me up and I'll say 'I belong to you, I belong to you, I belong to you, keep me, and never let me go!' As many times as you need to hear it! " He peppers their jaw with pleading kisses.

" And when we're married... you can read it, engraved on your ring. "

📺⭐🟥⭕ Stopped in his tracks speed walking from one place to the next as per usual for the half-boss half-star, it always depends on the person for how Tenna responds being pulled away to do something. Evidently, she was one he smiled at the sound of being called for.

" Bonnie!!! How's it goin' bubblegum? Whaddaya need? Somethin' on the top shelf? Haha! " Just a little modest humor about his height! ( But you'd be surprised how often he really gets called for that! )
