Have you ever imagined how life would be in Mystic Falls if they were all humans? What if, instead of one cure, there was more than one? What if the cure was a spell? A spell that would affect the entire population of Mystic Falls.
Bonnie Bennett was trying to find a way to kill Silas. Back in 2013, the Mystic Falls gang were after a cure that would allow the hunters of the Five to kill the most powerful warlock, who appeared to be immortal. The Bennett witch found another way. She contacted Qetsiyah and discovered that there was one spell that could both cure and kill Silas at the same time. The young witch did the exact spell, but things happened in a different way. Silas was finally dead, but the people of Mystic Falls felt different - human. Everyone that was in the small town of Virginia in that one night became mortal.
Almost everyone was happy, but there were a few people who didn’t like the idea of losing their eternity. Niklaus Mikaelson was one of them. Still a werewolf - and one of the most powerful werewolves at that - he manipulated Bonnie to find a way. What Qetsiyah didn’t tell her was that the cure would only last a few months after it was cast. Once those months went by, everything went back to normal. After all, nature maintains it balance - but turning every supernatural being into humans takes more power than a single witch could take. To everyone’s surprise, the vampires of Mystic Falls were not the same as they once were. And with that, families have been made.
Update: The knights of hell have risen from their comfortable thrones in hell, they cause chaos wherever they go and feed off of the fear they provoke. When they reached the town borderline the demons and their loyals decided to stir up the peace in Mystic Falls, unleashing the Heretics. The heretics had been imprisoned over two hundred years ago due to them being deemed as abominations and with their return they’re looking for revenge on any living thing. Due to the night of the Knights of Hell entering Mystic Falls and deciding to release a poison throughout the town (read about it more here) the other side could no longer handle the pressure of all the supernaturals flooding over and out. So with the overload, at the end of the night, the other side collapsed.
