Hey can we stop perpetuating the idea that every trans person always knew they were trans? It sucks.
I didn't always know I was trans. I didn't realize I was trans until I was almost out of high school. Sure there were signs, but I didn't know what any of them meant at the time. I didn't know that being trans was even an option.
So I really hate this thing that's going on where people act like you are More Trans if you always knew. It's stupid. I didn't always know I was autistic either but that doesn't make me less autistic! I was not exposed to trans people when I was a kid so of course I'm not gonna realize I'm trans until I'm older! That's mathematics baby!
It's okay if you didn't realize until much later. It's okay if you were in your 20s, your 30s, your 40s, your 50s, your 60s, or even older than that when you realized. It's also okay if you didn't come out unti you were older! I'm still not out to so many people and that's my choice!
Your journey is valid and I love you <3
honestly one of the reasons why it took me so long to realize i was trans was because i didn’t always know i was trans. i thought that because i didn’t know when i was a toddler that i must not actually be trans. people figure shit out at different times, that’s just an unavoidable fact of life. when you figure something out is when you figure it out, there’s nothing that makes you any better or worse because of it
