//So uh....hi. 8D;
//Awake. Will reply in a bit to stuff. Have work in 3.5-ish hours, so will be poof in around then.
"Hi lad. Don't tell anybody I'm here okay? I wanna see how long it takes for anybody t' notice I disappeared."
“Uh...” Kai blinked, then raised a brow. “Ooookay. Don’t hide for too long. Don’t want anyone thinking I kidnapped you when you came to hide behind me.”

Her eyes widened. She remembered her granddad saying when he heard from Morita. That he had a grandkid too.
She smiled gratefully. “Thanks Kai..” She said with a little bit of a laugh, “so Morita huh?” She asked with a quirk of the eyebrow. “Small world. ”
“Yup! Kind of reminds me of that whole ‘six degrees of separation’ theory.” She set the mocha down for Callie, glad for the lull. “I’ve got two sisters, too. One’s a doctor, the other is stationed at Joint Base Myer–Henderson Hall.” And she was perfectly happy with her barista gig. “Makes me wonder who else might be out there that’s part of the Grand Lineage~.” With the theatrical way she said the last two words, there was no mistaking she was joking around.

Jim, World War II. Odd, how that had an ever-so-slightly familiar ring to it. What that was, he couldn’t say, and dismissed it outright. Instead, he nodded again. This was easy enough - he just had to formulate a cover and utilize it until an alternative method of extraction could be found.
So long, of course, as (Steve) the mission could be successfully evaded. “That sounds… nice,” he offered, pulling at the frayed edges of his mind for a mission-appropriate response, wooden expression shifting into something like a smile (although perhaps it ended up more like a sneer) as he accepted the woman’s offer.
“Forgot how to smile?” She motioned for him to follow her, making sure not to make any moves that could spook or be taken as hostile. “Cuong’s place has some good eats and coffee, too. And as I said...this one’s on me.”

Callie smiled in apology when she hung up the phone, “Mocha would be amazing..” she said with a gratious smile before she was caught off guard by the woman asking about her grandfather. “Actually yes… he’s my grandfather.” she advised the other woman when she blinked.
She was curious, because of the fact NO one ever called him Dum Dum outside of Shield – or the Commando Family. Everyone knew him as Dugan or Tim outside of the war.
“That’s awesome!” She looked around quickly to assure there was no one else that needed her, then grinned. “Name’s Kai Orinn. Morita was my grandpa. Lemme grab you the mocha, and I’ll be right back.” She wasn’t normally quite so social, but meeting another grandkid of a Commando? That was awesome. She was quick to scoot off and return with a larger mocha.

Callie looked up at the waitress who approached her and smiled. “I could go for a little more please..”
She was as bad on caffeine as Barton. But who could blame her when Barton was her mentor and trainer? She heard her phone go off and smiled apologetically to the girl. “Just a sec…” She answered the phone “Dugan… Yes sir. Tomorrow at 0800? Understood ”.
“I can definitely see to that.” She grinned, chuckling. “La-” She was cut off by the phone, the woman shutting her mouth quickly out of respect. And then blinked.
Dugan wasn’t exactly a common surname.
Once the other woman was off the phone, she tilted her head a bit in curiosity. “Latte or mocha? And...are you by any chance related to Dum Dum Dugan?” She had never expected to meet someone else related to a Howling Commando, really. She knew it was far from impossible, but it just...hadn’t occured to her.

How much do we know about MCU James Buchanan Barnes, really?
Based on what?
For as much fanwork and meta as he’s inspired, he remains enigmatic in canon. Barnes is emotionally important in CA:FA, but receives relatively little screen time before he dies; he’s very much a secondary character. In CA:WS he’s brainwashed and gets maybe 9 lines – half of those are screamed. We can’t rely on the comics because these are clearly different characters: MCU Bucky has a different history than any of the comics Buckys, and MCU Winter Soldier appears not only to be stripped of memory like his 616 counterpart, but also a greater degree of his personality and agency. Cracks in his conditioning are beginning to show by the end of the film, but we don’t know how he’s changed or how he’ll continue to change following the events of Cap 2.
It’s startling to realize how many hours of thought, dozens of AUs and headcanons, pages of fancomics, reams of art, and millions of words of fic are all based on very little conclusive information. The fandom around Bucky Barnes is fraught with unconfirmed assumptions, and no one has access to more details or insight than the next person.
That’s one of the reasons I enjoy wildly different interpretations of the character (so long as they remain internally consistent and are justified within the text), because while these extrapolations may not be consistent with one another, any one of them may be consistent with canon when your canon is as open-ended as this.
CA: Civil War is going to be fascinating, because there are so many possible options, I genuinely don’t know where the character might be taken. I hope the narrative is half as interested in exploring those questions as I am. Who the hell is Bucky?

Erin chirped quietly and hugged Kai tightly, chirping a couple times again to her before smiling, nodding.
“Kay…”
“You are such a dork.” She giggled, settling to cuddle her friend as she listened to Mori getting excited about all the new babies. [Not TOO loudly, though. Mori was better behaved than that.]
timidlittlemouse:
“I don’t mind. Least I can do, being so scared of cars and all..” Erin smiled a bit, fidgeting sadly. “Sorry…”
“It’s okay, Erin. I’m not mad or anything.” She set her coffee down and opened her arms. “Com’ere, derpbird.”
timidlittlemouse:
“Trains… I can help pay.” Erin smiled softly. “They’re less frightening. Even the animals enjoy them. And it’s like driving I hard.”
“It’s not the same as driving, but it’s got it’s own charm.” She gave Erin a bright smile. “And the help would be appreciated. I only make so much as a barista, alas.”

Callie had been on leave, having stopped at the museum to make sure there wasn’t anything else that had gone missing – since she was one of the few who worked as a liason when it came to certain things and information they may have needed.
Having stopped in for a cup of coffee, she was sitting at the back corner, sipping at her latte and reviewing some files on her tablet.
It was, admittedly, near the end of her shift, and her relief had already come in. So that left Kai just flitting around, trying to find things to keep clean and the like as she waited for the clock. The woman in the corner wasn’t something new, really. She looked like a soldier or government officer of some sort, and in DC? There were a lot of those. She did, however, make her way over after a moment, smiling.
“Everything good over here?” She had nothing to do, and it never hurt to make sure the patrons were well-caffeinated and happy. It meant repeat customers were more likely, and Kai liked seeing familiar faces around the cafe!
//Online. Will be replying to things shortly. Going on shift soon, though, because no one wanted the first two hours of my shift. ;____;
