I believe linguistically the term is called Comparative Reduplication! And while a lot of languages have it, including many Indigenous American ones, Yoruba culture holds a lot of influence over how Black Diaspora and AAVE have been shaped. It’s a good video.

Comparative reduplication is something different– it’s where you repeat a comparative word to indicate it’s becoming more true over time– for example, ‘his face was becoming redder and redder.’

The phenomenon in the video is called contrastive focus reduplication.

Over the years, the South African government has remained a strong ally of Palestine, supporting its liberation cause.

The South African government has expressed concerns that Israel’s continued occupation of “significant portions of the West Bank” and the development of new settlements there “are glaring examples of violations of international law” as the longrunning Israel-Palestine conflict goes on.
