Haven’t you heard? Within Teyvat and the Sea of Quanta, it seems as though the rays of sunlight burn evermore. At last, it is time for the months of warmth. Passion thrums under the surface, the grogginess of life replaced with a fervent excitement. Only… do try not to burn to ash! It would be an awful hassle gathering you back together. So, where does the light of fate lead you today…?

⋆。˚☀︎。 camping — never gone camping before ? too scared to try because there are just so very many critters running about and any one of them could spell doom or worse yet, be too cute to leave alone ? no ? only me ? ahem, anyways… this time, the Adventurer’s Guild has increased incentives for team camping. vouchers, prizes, mora, you name it, they’ve got it ! just be sure to let katherine know when you’re done !
⋆。˚☀︎。 sports — with weather like this, who needs indoor activities ? no, no, the time has come for sports ! as scary of a statement as that is, numerous sporting events have cropped up. which ones ? do I look like a sports fanatic to you ? just ask your local know it all sports fan and you’ll be set !
⋆。˚☀︎。 ice cream — ever wondered how the refreshing, delicious, wondrous, whimsical — hm ? oh, alright ! alright ! ⋆。˚☀︎。 skies — ah, the hallmark of any summer day, a sky so blue you wonder if it’s fake. or so you would think but it seems a researcher from the Herta Space Station missed the memo entirely. a project gone incredibly awry, certain areas of many, many, many planets have their weather randomised. if you’re lucky, it won’t be anything too different, if not… well, it may be best to make some precautions !
⋆。˚☀︎。 refreshments — what to do, oh, what to do… hm ? ah, apologies ! it seems as though I let my thoughts drift for too long, but can you blame me ? it is so drearily, stiflingly hot !! why, it should be a crime… a relief, then, that the lovelies at Penacony have offered refreshments for your dreams. though, what is this I hear of origami waiters ?
⋆。˚☀︎。 festival — what is the point of the sunny days if not to celebrate ? ever wanted to spend hours away at some rigged game ? wear your cutest clothes ? try some food with nonsensical gimmicks ? well, look no further ! an unknown sponsor has ensured that a festival shall take place once every month until autumn falls, so don’t let the chance pass you by !
⋆。˚☀︎。 bug catching — word has it that, at this time of year, rare bugs like no other sprout about ! children from all over have decided this is their one and only chance (of the year) to catch ‘em all. enough so their parents and guardians have grown worried. commissions and personal requests are being made to supervise them while they scurry about. maybe you can catch a bug or three while you’re at it !
⋆。˚☀︎。 scrapbook — with the new and improved, latest kamera, many have taken the chance to document their adventures. going old school and using a journal as well ! not only that but some are even, pause for the appropriate dramatic gasp, exchanging pages as a way of sharing memories ?! can you believe that ? oh, don’t tell me you’re actually going to join them !?
⋆。˚☀︎。 scavenger hunt — no better time to hide away goodies for others to fumble around trying to find. I assume you will be no different ? ah, try not to take the riddles too seriously. that’s how they get you ! don’t expect any hints from me either, that ruins the entire thing ! it may be ideal to team up with some others, hm ? good luck !

5… 4… 3… 2… 1…! okay it’s time to go seeking !! (•̀ᴗ•́ )ゞ
I giggle mirthfully. Hyacine seems like an interesting person. I take her as childish in all the right ways. I’m happy to have her as my partner…even if the insistence on nicknames is strange to me. That might just be my own personal outlook though, since I spent such a time picking out my name in full. At any rate, I’m glad she’s allowing me to use my answer sheet. I’m not the sort of person who enjoys spending a lot of time on games for the most part, unless they’re really fun or I’m in on all the gimmicks.
“That’s a really cute one,” I say, remarking on the catcake Hyacine just found. I consider it for future mascot Vitas. The small ones would look particularly good with shades, but the ones that resemble me more would also steal the show! All mascot Vitas are wonderful and versatile that way, not unlike these cute catcakes.
I step onto a stack of boxes, hovering just slightly to avoid any chance of damaging them. Reaching as high as I can, I pull a particularly small catcake from one of the wall’s ridges. This one is a bit busy, the strange clover mutation and the large, sparkling eyes somehow taking away from the pleasing color scheme of orange and dark grey.
(grey skin, orange filling, no pattern, sparkle eyes [2 points], clover mutation [3 points], phlogiston mutation. Total 5 points)
This one blinks twice quickly at me, and I rest my judgement somewhere I don’t see it. This catcake is cute. I would like to show it to that Marah at some point and tell her that she’s not nearly as cute. I’d bet the look on her face would be priceless…
I leap down from the boxes, presenting the catcake to Hyacine. "Do me a favor and put it with the others, won't you?"
As Vitie spoke, Hyacine smiled even more. Not only hadn’t she mentioned anything about this nickname being off or bad (super win!), but she’d also commented on the catcake. “Right? I’ll have to ask Grayie if I can visit ‘em later.”
The one she found was also really cute! Honestly, the catcakes reminded her a lot of the Chimeras. Maybe that was why she was so endeared to them, they were just like the team Grayie had grown back then! … Okay, maybe not exactly, but close!
“Yours is cute too. I’d be happy to take this little one off your hands,” she replied, gently holding the catcake. She popped it down by the other catcakes. Okay, next one, here she came!!
Rolls : 2, 3, 1 — purple skin, black filling, no pattern — 2 — heart eye type — 6 — frill mutant trait — 2, 5 — vortex of wind Total points : 4
Sat behind some of the boxes and squeezed into a corner sat her next catcake. The catcake seemed to understand the situation and quickly leapt into Hyacine’s arms. “Awww, aren’t you sweet! Oh actually—Little Ica! Let’s try something out.”
At her request, her dear Pegasus flew before her. “Mind taking this little one back? I’ll get back to searching in the meantime.”
“Doot-doot!”
A giggle escaped her at his words. “Yes, yes, all aboard the Little Ica train! Vitie, Little Ica’s heading your way!”
5… 4… 3… 2… 1…! okay it’s time to go seeking !! (•̀ᴗ•́ )ゞ
I have mixed feelings about cats. On one hand, they’re cute, there’s nothing more to say about that. On the other, they remind me of a couple of people I’d rather not be reminded of. I joined this search out of benevolence anyway. I’m not entirely unfamiliar, after all, with the space station, and what is the foolish Vi if not kind? I left Star Traveler in orbit and made my way to the suggested area. I know well the most fun adventures lie in the places we’re not told to look at, but I’ll save that for the younger people who need a taste of adventure.
It seems like my partner today is this bright-eyed Hyacine. She’s very pink, and she talks a lot, there’s no space for me to introduce myself before she’s already off. In some ways, she reminds me of Susannah, but I with my Vision am very sure that comparison is only superficial. Her companion is a winged horse that looks to me like they’re made of marshmallow, or fabric, perhaps. I wonder if it’s soft to the touch!
It’s certainly useful, at least, as it comes up with the first catcake of the day. It’s definitely a good find, but I’m not to be beaten. I can already See a good amount myself. Poor Caelus has a lot of work ahead of him.
“Actually, let me go grab this one first!”
I move toward the nearest door. This catcake is quiet, but that means nothing for me. In one less-than-graceful move, I dart in and grab it.
Orange skin, black filling, ^ pattern (1 point), heart eyes (2 points), frill mutation (2 points), totaling 5 points.
I let out a sigh, holding the catcake up to eye level. It blinks at me. I can’t tell what it’s thinking, and for some reason, I don’t particularly want to look. I smile at Hyacine. “I forgot to introduce myself!” (I didn’t, but for some reason, this is expected of me.) “My name is Vita. Bite your bottom lip for the Vi, tap your tongue on the roof of your mouth for the ta. Vi-ta. Got it?” I don’t want anyone to start calling me Wiwi, if they forget how the Vi is pronounced…although, if it were my friends from home, they can really call me anything! I guess I’m not that picky. I stride over to Hyacine and drop the catcake in front of her. “I know where most of the rest are, but if you’re here to have fun, and don’t want an answer sheet, I won’t ruin it for you!”
Hyacine hummed as Vivi spoke—ah, was the nickname not to her tastes? Hmmm, in that case! She’d need to come up with something better. What to do… what to do… ah-ha! “Got it, would you rather I call you ‘Vitie’ instead? It’s just as cute, don’t you think?”
She could probably come up with something cuter. Tragically, she didn’t know Vitie all that well. Nothing too personal could be made outside of her name… for now! Always the opportunity to change things—
“Doot. Doot!”
Humming, Hyacine stood in thought. Did she want to cheat? Well, that hardly seemed fair to the little ones hiding… “I think I’ll go without an answer sheet for now. At least until we’ve spent lots of time here, that okay with you?”
“Doot!”
Hm? A new—oh! Hyacine quickly rushed to Little Ica’s side to find—
Rolls : 5, 1, 5 — orange skin, pink filling, moustache — 4 — shades eye type — 8 — teardrop mutant trait Total points: 7
—an adorable little one! “Awww, aren’t you cute! Or should I say cool with your shades?” Another one down.
She turned back to Vitie. “Oh, but you can use your answer sheet as much as you’d like! Not really a competition between us. Plus, I’d love to see all the little ones you find.”
5… 4… 3… 2… 1…! okay it’s time to go seeking !! (•̀ᴗ•́ )ゞ
Hm, hmmm!! Hyacine skipped as she looked around the area. When she saw Caelus’ text, welll… who would she be to deny him help? Especially when it had to do with such cute animals? Creatures? Beings? Anyways! She couldn’t just not help so here she was! At the storage area anddddd…
Ah-hah! Looks like the other had arrived. Twirling around, she waved at the other. “Hello! Looks like Caelus paired us up. I’m sure he already sent you the message but, my name’s Hyacinthia. Feel free to call me Hyacine instead though. And this—”
“Doot-doot!”
“—is Little Ica! My usual partner in crime. I think we can split off? I can take whichever side you—huh? Did you hear that?”
“…ow…eow…mew!”
Definitely cat sounds. Aaaand a catcake would make cat sounds, right? Focusing on where the sound came from, she signalled to Little Ica to search that area. A few seconds later and Little Ica had stopped behind one of the boxes. Alright! Mission is a go!!
Rolls: 2, 4, 1 — purple skin, purple filling, no patterns — 1 — no eye type — 7 — flower mutant trait — 2, 10 —protein rice Total points: 4
“Found you! Sorry, little one, we’ll be taking you out of here, okay?” Huh, this one looked a lot like Cassie, wow! A quick photo to send her later shouldn’t be too difficult, right? “Aaaaand cheese!” With the selfie taken, she turned around to where Vivi was.
“Where would you like to go looking next, Vivi?”

They say that upon the lands of Teyvat and the stars of the Sea of Quanta, the season of life arrives once more. Months of renewal, of life returning after the chill of winter. There is much to be done with such a chance, before the burning rays of summer strike upon any unsuspecting beings. So, where do the winds of fate lead you today…?

。°ꫂ❁。° warmth — the chill of winter fades into a pleasant breeze. the fear of turning one’s bones to ice is no longer prevalent and so an abundance of bookings of flower fields and restaurants and, well! anything that isn’t rotting on your couch. with this abundance comes the need for help, will you be rushing around on a shift that you are being paid far too little for ? or enjoying the warm atmosphere without so much as a glance to the busybodies keeping it so ?
。°ꫂ❁。° farming — the domestic life of living on your own farm with the company of a heartwarming number of animals ? the coziness of working hard and being rewarded with your own harvest ? the desire to take care of tens of animals ? should you say yes to any of these ! please visit — in Teyvat to take care of the resident’s farm for a week. not to worry, you will have a partner to work with and an obscenely detailed set of instructions to guide you ! though… how did it reach the Sea of Quanta… ? well it’s nothing to worry about now is it ?

。°ꫂ❁。° ducklings — a strange phenomenon has occurred all across the stars. it doesn’t matter where you are, so long as there is any kind of body of water (lakes, rivers, baths etc etc), you will find a duckling or three wishing for your guidance. you wouldn’t be so heartless as to abandon the poor dears. would you ? to help with this phenomena, some researchers within the Herta Space Station have offered to take them off of your hands with just a few conditions. one, you must sign this form (don’t look too close at it!), two, you must state how many found their way to you and where they appeared, three, you must be ready to be called into the station at any point in case things go wrong. what things ? haha ! why would they tell you ?
。°ꫂ❁。° stamps — to commemorate the season of spring, bookshops all over have begun selling ‘spring journals’. over the course of the season, you fill in one of the prompts. at the end of the season, you will hand these back to one of the bookshops selling them and, depending on the number of stamps you earn, you will earn prizes! alongside long term vouchers to a number of establishments. better hop to it! you wouldn’t want to end the season without a single stamp to your name, would you?

will witches break way to a rainbow? ∘ ∘ ∘ (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) ?
The Dreamseeker nodded, hugging her arms to her chest to ward off the chill. The rain formed puddles around their feet, reflecting a dark sky, stray orange sunbeams lighting up the edges of heavy clouds. It was a good day for a patrol, the beauty of the colors worthy of being painted. She supposed she should feel sad, for that witch she had just killed, for the magical girl beside her, just as tortured as she was meant to be, but she found no pain in her job, only beauty in magic, in life, in agony.
She brushed past Hyacine, storing her Soul Gem back inside her body as she started down the long road she had approached on once again. It was endless, like almost everything in this city. Sometimes the Dreamseeker wondered whether they lived in a labyrinth, if some god was a witch and had grown the tall buildings and infinite concrete streets from seeds of despair. The whole world was a dream, colors saturated and desaturated at will to fit the mood. The Dreamseeker couldn’t help but appreciate it, this dream of a despairing god.
She turned around to face Hyacine, reaching out an empty hand this time, rough fabric and thin string. She hoped it came across as the invitation it was. Perhaps the two of them could be a better force for good. Perhaps they would suffer less, as they brought the ends to the suffering of witches. Perhaps the Dreamseeker could make a living friend.
Her attention was drawn by the rustle of bushes at the edge of the road, green leaves parting to reveal Kyubey, their feline smile wide as they took a seat by the curb. Their red eyes stared judgingly at the Dreamseeker, as if they heard that thought and were hurt. The idea was amusing—surely Kyubey could be hurt by nothing. The Dreamseeker looked away.
With Dreamy’s confirmation, Hyacine bounced forward beside her. There was a sorrow in their job that was never missed by Hyacine, a life lost because… Kyubey hadn’t told her the specifics (yet) and some days she wondered if she ever wanted them to. Even with that melancholy thought, she wouldn’t deny them the chance to speak if they really, truly wanted to. How could she?
Hyacine hummed, the streets twisting and turning in a way she understood. Its familiarity learnt through years upon years of living, to live is to love and within these grey skies beneath her feet, there was no better way to live. None that Hyacine knew of at least. Did yet comfortable, large but easy to find, mundane yet bright with Hyacine’s sparks.
It was home. It might not always be home but it was right now and that was enough. Enough for a flower that couldn’t bloom anymore.
At Dreamy’s invitation, Hyacine brightened. She hopped forward, clasping the other’s hand with hers. With a smile so bright you would think her hands would be just as warm but it was cold. For she was no longer alive, wasn’t that so, Kyubey? An imitation of life. A being “living” off of nothing more than memory.
No wonder they were always smiling around her. As if there was something she didn’t know, a joke she’d yet to learn. Hyacine supposed that was true, for even she didn’t know why she’d grown cold. Why she was chosen. Why her powers were as they were. So she’d learn. The best she could from Kyubey.
What a mistake that would be.
“Oh, Kyubey! Are you gonna join us this time for patrol?”
BLAZING DELIGHT
Xiao was not interested in winning prizes. He was merely here to taste-test this so-called “Blazing Delight”, apparently so debilitatingly spicy it had sent several patrons sprinting away from the restaurant—but as an adeptus, Xiao doubted it would have such an effect on him.
Although, he noted as the dish was placed in front of him, the smell of various spices was rather pungent. Slowly, he took a bite.
Instantly, an intense burn spread across his tongue. Xiao covered his mouth in shock. To be bested by this dish… unthinkable…!
He looked around in a panic for anyone that could provide assistance—luckily, there was someone nearby, a human girl with what appeared to be a peculiarly shaped balloon; a stranger, but Xiao did not care in the moment—
“Could I ask you,” he managed to make out, “for a glass of water…?”
Now! Such a serious matter couldn’t not have a health professional present. Well, it didn’t really until Hyacine caught wind of it. Or, more accurately, Little Ica smelled it from miiiiiiiles (it was barely a few feet) away and so Hyacine found herself stationed with all that anyone would need if they were to try such a challenge.
“Doot-doot! ♪ ”
Hyacine giggled. “Yes, yes, Little Ica. You did so great! Thank you for getting me a prize—oh, hello!” Her gaze met a rather… er, that was to say… he was dying from spice, wasn’t he? She saluted him before ducking down to give him a water bottle.
“Here you are! It’s ice cold too but if—”
“Doot? Doot-doot.”
“Ahem! If you need any more refreshments, I asked the nice lady over there to give away her sweets for anyone who might need ‘em. Just follow my companion and you’ll be there.”
She gave Little Ica a side eye while her very proud (and a little mean) companion flew to the other’s side.
will witches break way to a rainbow? ∘ ∘ ∘ (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) ?
The Dreamseeker had a phone. Pulling it out of her pant pocket, she unlocked it quickly. She dug around in it for a moment, furrowing her brow, until she came upon her own contact card, pitifully named with only a period and the email of her senior still listed in the relevant field. She wasn’t sure how useful texting or calling would be in a fight, but it was customary to exchange numbers with acquaintances, so she assumed this was that.
Or perhaps…it came to her as the rain started to soak into her porous sweater, droplets distorting her phone’s screen. Communication, perhaps, as in her ability to speak. Tension rose up in her throat and she hoped, if she started to cry, it would be silent and the raindrops would obscure her tears. It really was embarrassing. She wished to back away and redo it, to meet Hyacine when her mind could connect to her voice. She took a deep breath, trying to run things back.
Hyacine wanted to speak with her. She wanted to speak to Hyacine. There should be no problem, not in the world of magic. Her eyes flashed purple as she drew on the power of her Soul Gem, letting words exit with her breath. They spun in the air for a moment before coming still. ‘I’m very sorry,’ they read, starting with the most polite thing. ‘I would love to team up with you, if you really want to. I don’t have a name, so please do not call me by one.’
Dreamseeker sounded pretentious, she thought, a title, a label, not a name. Perhaps, though, remaining nameless was just as haughty. She breathed out a few more letters. ‘Though, Dreamy would be alright.’ It was something her senior had called her once, while holding her soft form close to her chest, grinning into her fur.
Water started to run down her wrist, the polyester yarn of her sweater no longer able to hold anymore. The Dreamseeker had almost forgotten that it was outstretched. She didn’t want to tax her magic more than necessary, so she stepped forward and thrust it a little closer to Hyacine.
Hyacine smiled as the other pulled out a phone. Perfect! Communication was sure to be easier now. Though as she waited, it seemed like the other had a… different plan? The other transformed back into her magical girl outfit and Hyacine almost drooped down like a puddle. Did this mean she wasn’t interested anymore…?
Her thoughts would be proven false in seconds as the other breathed words into the raindrops. She brightened almost immediately, a smile on her face.
“I would!” she affirmed, “and nothing to apologise for. This is a pretty cool way to talk too.”
No name… hmmm, Hyacine was known to come up with nicknames easily. Maybe she could—oh! She had a nickname already. “That’s a pretty name! Dreamy… it suits you.”
It was too cute a nickname to switch things up. Maybe. For now at least. Later on, though, maybe Hyacine could come up with something just as cute. “Okay so, now that we’re clear on that. Let’s get to patrolling. If you’ve got the energy?”
Battles could be pretty taxing or so she assumed. Hers very rarely were but… maybe it was different for Dreamy.
will witches break way to a rainbow? ∘ ∘ ∘ (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) ?
Eyes shifting to the ground, the Dreamseeker let her left hand fall to her side, clutching the grief seed tightly.
The Dreamseeker could speak. Theoretically. It was her own words that had granted her wish, not too long ago. These words that, according to Kyubey, had been the costliest bit of her to provide. Maybe that was why now, why often, speech was conjure that the Dreamseeker forgot how to perform. She wanted to say something, it would be so much easier to say something, but it just wouldn’t happen.
In compromise, as a risky show of goodwill, the Dreamseeker reversed her transformation. The light clothes that gave her a feeling of safety evaporated into magic, leaving behind only the homemade clothes passed down to her from her senior. They were clumsily made, color changes mid-row on her sweater, sleeves sewn on with a tapestry needle. The Dreamseeker’s own seams were only a little less clumsy, white lines encircling her joints like scars.
She pocketed the grief seed, holding out her left hand as an offer to shake. She forced a smile, the sentiment genuine but the expression unnatural. Teaming up would be wonderful.
The Dreamseeker had always been a solo magical girl, fearing the idea of putting others in danger with her own failings, but lately she had gotten better at catching witches before they had a chance to mature into more miserable beasts, before they had a chance to bring down anyone else with them. She was more confident now that she wouldn’t be weighing anyone down very much in a team. It would be safer to work with someone else, in case they met a witch no one magical girl could defeat alone.
She wasn’t sure she’d be the sort of teammate most people would want, with her communication issues and her reluctance to share things about herself, but she would try her best. At least for this one patrol.
The silence from the other seemed to tell Hyacine enough about the situation. Or, well, that she might need to offer a different way to communicate. Hmm, she glanced up at the sky, the rain was still ongoing. Aww, there goes writing… wet paper and ink are never a good idea.
Her gaze returned to the other just as she began to detransform. Hyacine brightened at the display. Maybe she trusted her? No, no, that might be getting just a bit ahead of herself! Still, her bright smile held hope. Though… She noticed a couple… seams?? On the other’s joints. Maybe it had to do with the other’s wish?
She shook the other’s hand with both of hers. Her microexpressions said she was… genuineish? But the smile on her face looked anything but. Maybe the other didn’t smile often.
“I’ll take that as a yes, then? Awesome!! Ummm, do you know how to type on a phone? Actually wait, do you have a phone? If not, you can use mine and we can communicate that way! Or do you have another way you’d like to communicate?”
Hyacine might’ve been rambling rather than speaking clearly but she couldn’t help herself! Finally! She’d have a teammate!! Someone to work with, someone to have fun with, a new friend!
Not on our Watch!
Commission: Preservation | Hyacine & Ororon
Hyacine giggled at the other’s reply. The fastest Pegasus anyone will see! She believed she’d seen him on occasion, one of the volunteers? While she was helping with health check ups, he was on guard duty. Two distinct roles that very rarely had any overlap. This would be one of those rare times.
“He is,” she affirmed, pride overflowing in her voice, “very helpful too. He’ll work well as our scout, don’t worry.”
Not that the other seemed all too concerned but seeming and being were two different feelings. That and it was kind of difficult not to worry in a situation as this. She returned his smile with one of his own.
“Nice to meet you too, Orrie! I’m Hyacinthia but you can call me Hyacine,” she, like Orrie, returned her focus upon the poachers ahead. Little Ica proved to be, as always, a phenomenal distraction. Still… her eyes focused solely upon the little one. Being handled with such roughness… it was as if the poachers had no sense at all.
She knew Little Ica could pack a punch if he so desired but the thought of hurting the little one even more was enough to deter both from the idea. Think, Hyacine, think! Her eyes darted around the unfamiliar surroundings. She hoped Orrie knew his way around the area, else they’d be more than lost after all this. Maybe I could use my bubbles? I don’t know how big of a distraction they would serve however…
Her gaze drifted to Orrie as he spoke. She hummed in thought. “Little Ica is quite strong, don’t let his size fool you, but I don’t… wait, water?” She smiled, bright and confident. If it were possible, Orrie might’ve seen sparkles around her.
“I have an idea, it may be a little risky, however, so if you don’t think it will work, please let me know. We can figure something else out, I’m sure,” she lifted her wand for the other to see, “I can create bubbles with my wand and not ones that will pop in an instant. I think I could distract him long enough for you to take the little one out of his hands as Little Ica pushes him into the water. Do you think that’d work?”
'Wait. Like an actual wand? Like the ones in those popular Inazuman light novels? That's so cool!' Eyes widening in fascination as he tries to catch a glimpse of the instrument in question, but instantly reigns himself back in. Reminding himself of the dire circumstances at hand, and shoves it to the back of his mind to ask about later to lock in. Nodding in agreement to Miss Hyacine's mentioned plan, seeing no faults in it.
"I think so. If you and Ica are able to make a great distraction like that, there's no doubt in my mind that we can get back the baby koholasaur. I'll be at the ready when the plan goes into motion, so just say the word, and I'll be there to back you guys up." Taking a deep breath to calm his already rapidly beating heart as he gets himself ready for what's about to come next.
From Orrie’s microexpressions… yep!! He was just as interested in her wand as the children of the Grove. Stifling a giggle—this was a serious moment, Hyacine!!—she raised her wand. “Alright, keep your eyes on the little one. I’ll get to work…”
She pointed it at the poachers, the formings of a bubble starting at its tip.
“…now!”
A flurry of bubbles rushed towards the poachers, careful not to touch the little one. Little Ica noticed them and waited for Orrie to take care of the baby. Once their safety was assured, Little Ica pushed the poachers away and into the water.
“Well done, Little Ica!!”
“Doot-doot.”
“Yes, yes, you looked very dashing.”
And so the whims of fate guide us anew
Hello everyone! In regards to GH’s closure, I think I will first finish replying to all the threads I owe. After that, I believe business will continue as usual for my three muses. There may come a day when I do not have the motivation or the muse anymore but for now, Kazuha, Ruan Mei and Hyacine are here to stay! For the time being, I’d like to stick to GH blogs and maybe eventually branch out into indie. Mayhaps.
If there are any threads you’d like to do with my muses, let me know, I’m more than happy to start new threads!! And most of all, I’d love to continue writing with all of you <3
I’m going to get a bit sappy here even if I am not the best at this. Feel free not to read if you want, honestly this is kinda super scary (being perceived my worst nightmare) but I at least wanted to write out my feelings as I’ve always done in saddening times
Two Assistants and a Dead Body
Lynette and Hyacine @twilighthealer
Belobog, a frigid land covered in a thick layer of snow. That was where Lynette had ended up.
A world that was just reconnecting with the rest of the universe it seemed, Lynette wondered when the day would come that Teyvat would deal with the vast universe, if she would be around to see it.
Still, this was good for intel gathering, getting to see everything. The city itself reminded her of Fontaine, only even more advanced. She just had to be careful not to touch anything or she might cause an incident…
Maybe that’s why Lynette found herself in the midst of the snowy plains, where an active investigation was underway. Her hair stuck up on end, trying to trap as much heat as possible, as she found herself standing over said dead body with another outlander.
Curiosity killed the cat it’s said, but maybe it’s more apt to say in this situation that curiosity got the cat roped into unnecessary work.
She looked to her pink haired partner, somewhat baffled she was in this situation to begin with.
“So.”
Lynette began awkwardly. She wasn’t good with small talk, she’d usually leave that work to Lyney. She looked back over at the body
“… He’s definitely dead.”
Great start Lynette. Great start.
Jarilo-VI was a lovely place to go to, at least on most occasions. As the first world Hyacine visited after the universe was opened up to her, it held a soft place in her heart. She thought the same was the case for Little Ica.
… Though maybe for different reasons.
The freezing temperatures of Jarilo-VI and the schism between the Underworld and Belobog had a bit of a habit of turning any visit into a bit of an adventure. Today seemed like no different as she found herself checking a dead body. Little Ica, for all his strengths, was not the best for this situation so he remained tucked away until further notice.
Hyacine glanced up at the other, her new partner in crime! Or, well, not in crime because they definitely didn’t do this. As the other spoke, Hyacine returned to checking the body. Supposedly he fell and that was listed as the cause of death but…
These aren’t the injuries typically sustained by such a fall. And they’re too fresh to have happened ages ago.
“Yes. Though… there are some strange wounds. We have the wounds sustained by the fall,” she pointed to them, “and then these cut-like wounds. But both kinds of wounds are from a similar timeframe, sometime this morning, I think. It’s only weird because the cut-like injuries would be enough to kill him without the fall doing anything so…”
Ah, whoops. Maybe she’d gone into a little too much detail off the bat.
will witches break way to a rainbow? ∘ ∘ ∘ (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) ?
The Dreamseeker held in her breath, clutching her stun baton tightly. Its small prongs glittered with the reflected orange light of street lamps, doing their best to battle the darkness of the rainstorm. She felt her Soul Gem pressing against her neck, the only part of her cloud-light ensemble to feel so restricting. She was sure it glimmered more brightly than that of the magical girl in front of her.
The Dreamseeker wordlessly held out the grief seed she had collected with her free hand. That’s what the girl—Hyacine—wanted, right? It wasn’t any trouble. The Dreamseeker’s Soul Gem only darkened with use of her power, and this witch, a newborn, had been a one-shot.
She felt she could somewhat understand the lost hope of that one. It had been small, wrapped in a yarn ball. It had been surrounded by a thousand tiny felted familiars that called out to it, but it was encased too tightly in its ball to hear anything. The Dreamseeker couldn’t help but find herself hyper-aware of the seams on her own body, all loose joints pulled together by string and covered with ribbon, as she plunged the prongs of her baton into the witch’s heart.
She brought her attention back to the magical girl. The Dreamseeker knew it was better etiquette to detransform when faced with others, but the thought of making herself vulnerable like that made her false heart beat faster. She felt no malice from this person, but in their world, it was always best to keep her guard up.
In a sort of compromise, she let her baton fall to the ground, exploding in a small cloud of illusory fireworks as its magic returned back to herself. She hid her right hand behind her back, forcing herself to make eye contact with Hyacine as she continued to hold out the grief seed offered with her left.
She felt she should say something. Her name, perhaps. A greeting. She didn’t have a name, and the greeting was caught in her hoarse throat. She hoped her eyes seemed apologetic enough for her sure rudeness.
In the pause the other took (maybe she had come off a little strong? Whoops…), Hyacine managed to get most of her breath back. She was still a little tired from running here but that’d pass soon! She stood up properly, to make sure the other was able to see her clearly. When her gaze returned to the other, she blinked. Why was…?
A bit confusing but when the other dropped her baton, it fell into place. Smiling, Hyacine shook her head. She waved her arms in front of her to refuse the offer. “No, no! I’m good, my soul gem’s pretty bright, don’t worry.”
It wasn’t quite as bright as the other’s but she wasn’t about to point that out just yet. Lowering her arms, she patted down her dress. It didn’t seem like the other would start talking any time soon. That was fine! She could work with this.
“What’s your name? I live a bit away from here, but I’m doing a patrol walk, if you’d wanna join me? Of course, it’s fine if you don’t want to. I’m just glad to see another magical girl.”
Maybe talking about teaming up without actually asking would backfire on her but, well! It was a little too late for thoughts like those.
The other’s continued silence started to get to her, maybe rejection was on the horizon. Is she scared I’ll do something? Or was this too sudden? Or maybe…
“Can you not talk? Not that it’s an issue, there’s a lot we can use to communicate instead of speech.”
friendship solves all (including theft) (๑>•̀๑)
phainon chuckles at the thought of little ica running about through the city above while the train takes them down to the city beneath: had the little flying horse been at the creampuff stand where he'd run into that strange man who spoke cryptically of the road ahead, maybe there wouldn't have been anything left for anyone else to choose from. better still, he imagined, was all the locals trying to make sense after of how hyacine's small companion still flew quickly through the streets on such small wings and with a terribly full tummy...
...mirth still teases at his tone as phainon focuses back on hyacine once more. "I'll need to come along next time little ica goes on a food rampage in the district above us! surely, the image in my mind can't do justice to the real thing."
once they've disembarked and taken a few steps into the underground, pale eyes widen as hyacine moves ahead to look around quickly, then turn back to him with a request for his own theories. just thinking of what sort of evidence they'd found in the store... where would a small person hide with a flower?
"hm... well, where down here would be the best place to try and grow a plant?..." the answer is nowhere, he imagines, but maybe a small thief from the city beneath the city is not keen on plants needing more light to grow than the heaters down here could provide. "the robot settlement's ground is frigid to the point of being frozen in most areas. so... we could probably rule it out, if it's not reasonable to even try and dig up soil. maybe the dirt in the city proper is a little easier to work with, thanks to the concentration of heaters... let's check out the alleys first, and then ask around any other institutions here that may know more about the locals after. a school teacher may know who's interested in flowers, while a clinic may have had someone of a small stature stop in with a few peculiar, fresh cuts..." as he continues coming up with a few strategies, phainon walks alongside hyacine and further away from the station they arrived at.
what else could help them find their thief? off the main underground street they walk down, he spies the first alley that isn't blocked off by metal fencing to their right, and gestures towards it. "let's go check out that alley, hm?"
Hyacine had no need to look at Lord Phainon’s microexpressions to know his feelings. Just a step or two away from laughter, it seemed. Her smile grew to match his tone. She saluted him. “Of course. I doubt my words would do the sight justice… so just remember that you mustn’t blink when it happens. One time I was talking to a stall owner and the next thing I knew he’d acquired three kebabs,” she shook her head, “maybe with a second pair of eyes I’ll be able to keep a better eye on him.”
She continued to walk though she was facing Lord Phainon. Little Ica would warn her before she hit anything. Or anyone. “Alleys first, alright!”
“Doot-doot!”
Catching up with him, she and Little Ica nodded. The alleyway was dark. Maybe that was obvious but, well, the Underworld usually had these warmly lit areas. The darkness of the alley took away that warmth almost completely.
Little Ica rushed ahead, using his flight to look at everything from an aerial perspective. On the other hand, Hyacine began looking at things closer to the ground. There didn’t seem to be much here in the first place which meant searching would be muuuuuch easier than otherwise. Or so she hoped.
Hm, I guess we’re looking for some soil fertile enough to grow a plant. Maybe a pot of some kind? And a lightsource, maybe a heater? That way the bulb would…
“Doot! Doot-doot.”
“Nothing so far? Haven’t found anything this way either. Keep looking! Lord Phainon, do you see anything amiss? I think if we can find a lightsource here we might be able to see the bulb sooner.”
And a light source in this dark area was sure to stand out. More than soil or water would. Clang! She blinked, where did that come from…? “Doot.” Not Little Ica, huh? “Not me either! Lord Phainon was that you or…?”
tcg upcoming stars: prince, little ica & cacucu ദ്ദി◝ ⩊ ◜.ᐟ
sheesh. is the little guy cursing or something? wouldn't be the first time some oddly-shaped flying companion picked up the wrong phrases. . . he's not really looking at Cacucu about this - but he is. it's completely Cacucu. no offense to his lil'bro.
“ ah, 's just the surface and basics. glad it was helpful enough, though, miss. ” Ifa politely nods, a smile quirking up as he watched the three go about. it reminds him of the saurians in natlan- roughhousing around and yowling at each other. disregarding the earlier thought-- it is super cool to see Cacucu fitting in real well. “ i'd say i'm rooting for little ica. the dudes got heavy potential- and i'm a little biased since he's flying- like Cacucu here.”
“ hahaha! you hear that? haha! thank you, bro! ”
pfft. “ now. . . is there anything else i'm missing. . . ? ” the vet ponders aloud, hand to his chin as the dice are rolled again. “ uh- hm. well, some of the action cards and character abilities rely on how your dice are rolled. like, if you roll a couple of pyro, then you'd "spend" the dice rolls on. . . something to do with pyro. ”
great explanation, Ifa. going along with what was happening in the game made it easier-- this seems like. . . round two or three, anyway, he has plenty of time. “ ah- you see there, prince rolled two cryo, one geo, two electro and three omni. omni dice can be used on anything, like a . . . seven in one. ”
“ so, with those rolls, little dude can either re-roll them for different typings, or roll with it. so he can only make moves according to the dice. . . if that makes sense. ”
“ bro! ” -- Cacucu seems to have found something particularly silly to fixate on with little ica. is it the card deck that the pegasus has, or something? well, whos he to judge? the little qucusaurus hasn't made his own deck in ever.
When Hyacine turned back to the kind stranger, she found he had a… very familiar look on his face as he looked to his flying buddy. Seemed like such language was pretty normal for flying buddies. Little Ica better not get any inspiration from it though…
At his support reveal, Hyacine clapped her hands together. Her smile grew just a biiiiit bigger. “Hear that, Little Ica, you’ve got another supporter—” she turned to him, only to find out he was not paying aaaaaany attention to her. Well, at least he was making friends. She giggled lightly as Cacucu spoke. “Guess he doesn’t hear it, ah, well. Happy to have you on board, new Little Ica Lover member!!”
Dice roll again, and this time Hyacine’s fully honed in on the match. Still, she does listen very carefully to the other’s words. Pyro… pyro… fire, right? Hm, so, then, it’d be the red cards (hopefully???) and… she grinned. Having a visual and audio explanation worked wonders for her understanding.
“A seven in one? That means he got really lucky, right? Go, Little Ica! You can push past this!!”
The dice controlled the match, the small items were quite powerful here… Hyacine paid Cacucu no mind, after all! She had all the confidence that Little Ica’s deckbuilding skills were great!! Or, well, great enough to win. She hoped. Okay, so maybe her confidence wasn’t so ironclad. Her cheers would make up for it though!!
She glanced over at the other, to ask about something Little Ica just did when she noticed his little memo pad. “Are you a vet?” was the question she asked instead. Her eyes brightened, the similarities kept increasing! Next thing you know he’d tell her he studied somewhere like the Grove.
will witches break way to a rainbow? ∘ ∘ ∘ (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) ?
Existence, to exist was to love, to exist was to hate, to exist was to be indifferent. To exist was to leave a mark. What mark did the dead leave?
“Rain, again, huh? Well, at least there are some puddles to splash in!” she grinned, looking up at the storm-ridden clouds. Dark grey, how many witches had grey? How many had their screams silenced by the rain? Hyacine hummed, letting the raindrops fall upon her. Like tears.
Have I ever seen a witch cry? Dooooon’t think so…
She stopped in place, closing her eyes. If she listened hard enough, the rain would eventually match her heartbeat. Drop by drop. A moment passed or maybe it was two, time was so hard to keep track of these days, before Hyacine continued her journey home.
As always, she stopped every so often. As always, she greeted as many as she could. As always, the kindness she brought was fleeting. As always, she—
A being without peace. She could feel their despair from here. She could feel their wish for an end. And then…
“It’s gone…?” Oh. Oh.
She picked up her speed. Maybe, just maybe! She wouldn’t be alone in her walks. Hope was a scary, dangerous thing but… she held her gem close, eyes locking with another.
“H… Hello!! Are…” she paused. A few seconds passed. Now, with breath in her lungs, she tried again. “Ahem! Sorry, hey. That’s a grief seed, right? Don’t worry, I’m like you, a magical girl!”
A pink gem was shown to the other. It had grown dimmer over the course of time, but it remained as clear as ever.
“My name’s Hyacine, it’s great to meet you.”
