âSweetheart?â A familiar masculine voice called out softly.
You heard him, but you could only shrivel up underneath the covers in response with a soft whimper. You honestly didnât feel like socializing â nor did you even want to get out of bed and doâŠanything, really. Today was one of those days where you just wanted to shut yourself away from the world, and you hoped Ford would realize that and leave you be. You didnât have any energy to get yourself out of bed, or in any case socialize with anyone.
Your mood couldnât have been worse, and you were already on the verge of tears by the time Ford opened the bedroom door. As much as you loved himâŠtoday you just wanted to be alone.
You inwardly hoped â you inwardly begged that he would just leave you be. You surely didnât want to bring him down with the depressive thoughts currently running wild through your mind. Perhaps if you continued to act like you were asleep, he would eventually just leave you and allow you to wallow away in your sorrows. However, he wasnât planing on leaving you anytime soon.
He immediately knew something was wrong with you, and he was more than determined to figure things out.
â(Y/N), itâs a quarter past noon. Donât you want to get up and eat some lunch?â he wandered towards the dark corner of the room where you lied on the bed.
âIâm not hungry,â you responded with a monotone voice as you hid your face under the covers.
Well, this didnât settle well with Ford. He could only study your curled up form with a concerned gaze. This only increased his worries over you and how you were feeling.
It pained him to see you in this current state: appearing unmoving and lifeless.
He took a seat beside you, reaching out towards your body slowly and cautiously. âAre you sure? Come on, (Y/N), you really need to keep your strength up â â
âJust leave me be!â you snapped at him while immediately sitting up in bed, ceasing his words.
You regretted your words as soon as you noticed Fordâs astonished expression. Tears filled your eyes and slipped down your face as you trembled in regret. You didnât intend to scare or worry him. At the moment, you wished you could just disappear from the earth, so Ford wouldnât have to deal with you and your internal issues and struggles. YouâŠdidnât want to drag anyone down into your pit of sorrows and suffer with you.
You didnât want to be a burden on him.
âI-Iâm sorry, I shouldnât have â â
Suddenly, Ford silenced you with a wave of his hand. He placed a finger over your mouth, eyes filled with concern. You could only lower your head in shame, feeling the need to curl into a ball and hide yourself away forever.
He proceeded to wipe your tears away with a soft smile. âNo need to apologize, dear. I completely understand what youâre going through right now.â
You slowly nodded, still trying to avoid his gaze. You still felt guilty as hell for your sudden outburst and alarming him. âY-yeahâŠâ
You couldnât help all the overwhelming negative thoughts that kept bottling up inside you. You felt completelyâŠtrapped in the emptiness and felt like youâd never be able to escape its agonizing chains.
âIâm so sorryâŠâ you softly wail as you bury your face into his chest, finding comfort in the softness of his sweater. âI guess I havenât beenâŠfeeling like myself lately.â
Ford wrapped his arms tightly around your trembling form. His heart sunk at the sight of you breaking down, and could only hold you tighter to his chest in response. Seeing you hurt like this immensely hurt him as well. The only thing on his mind was tying his best to make you feel better.
âI noticed,â he finally said calmly, as he rubbed comforting circles into your back. That only made you get even more choked up. âAnd it hurts me to see you like thisâŠbecause I only want whatâs best for you; happiness and love.â
You sniffled. âThe truth is, I donâtâŠwant to be alone. A-As much as I tell myself I should isolate myselfâŠIâŠI shouldnât,â you shakily whimper against him. âIt just makes me feel even more miserableâŠâ
Ford shook his head. âYou donât deserve that, dear. You donât deserve to be alone, especially when youâre feeling like this.â
You could only nod in response as you began to break down.
âI love youâŠâ you eventually said shakily, tightening your grip around him.
Ford put his head on top of yours, and continued to hold you tight in his arms as you wept.
âI love you, too â so much,â he whispered comfortingly into your hair.
