Hey there, I know you said that you weren't going to do the credits, but I think that the credits are really important, so as to recognize the people who worked so hard to make the game we're enjoying... !

Oh, I just meant that I will leave them in the original language! Of course the credits will remain in the game.

Getting everything set up to finally continue working. Right now I'm just pasting all the text into the google doc. Check it out here if you want to contribute! The names of the tabs are rough at the moment, but eventually they will be labeled properly.

Most of the text there are the things that were already translated in the patch but needs to be re-done, though there is more of the Chester scenario in there (and more scenarios on the way). Holy cow, thank you to whoever was working on it while I was away. Great job! c:

Sorry about the lack of an update. There’s not much else I can do as of now, but I do still care about this project and I wish to do more with it when I have time.

Are you guys gonna finish the patch? Or do you need some help to finish it? I´m actually playing the game and the translation looks pretty good, but I want to know if is going to be a final patch. And if I can help on something, this work it´s fantastic. Thank you.

I definitely want to continue working on it soon! I'll have to start fresh, but that won't take as long as I already have everything that's already been done, saved. It's just a matter of re-entering information! (I don't want to continue from the old patch, it's messy in some areas...)

I was a bit optimistic at first about the story mode translating, but it's outside of my skill level and my buddies with coding experience have their hands full on other things, so I think we'll have to do without that part.

tl;dr: Expect a revised, cleaner patch in the future, with more blanks filled out in the items, artes, character bios, plot summaries, and such. This first patch was just to get it playable as quickly as possible, I will gladly get back to work to finalize it sometime.

(Also anybody is able to help! I'll try to set something up again like a public worksheet for Tales fans to translate / offer advice for names and stuff. It worked out pretty well in the past.) Thank you for using the patch!

I can't promise the story text anymore, as the project sort of died, but I do want to clean up some of the arte translations and little errors here and there, and just release a final "menu patch" for items, artes, and menus.

Hey there, wanted to ask is there a new patch coming out anytime soon? Been few months not had any updates.

I'm not sure, probably a revision patch and general improvements to translations (since they are a mess in the first patch), but the story progress has come to a complete halt. Unless someone that sees this wants to step in that can handle that (decrypting the namco-protected files). c:

The page got a nice layout update. It was looking a bit too crowded before. I'll probably change it a few more times until I get it perfect. Not much else to say, progress is going slow, but the menu patch is already out, so... this is just extra work :P

what's your favorite story mode?

So far I’m really enjoying Chester’s comedic scenario. Tons of lame puns everywhere.For example, the part I am translating at the moment has Cless calling Marta a log (something like a pun with her name in Japanese, and he means flat like a piece of wood) and when she asks Emil “Am I really like a log?!” he says “Yes! A perfect log!” because he’s scared and thinks that’s what she wants to hear. Then Chester is trying to get her to pose to prove she isn’t flat as a board, taking advantage of the situation.Or at least that’s what I am getting from it. I might have some errors, it hasn’t been looked over by anyone else.Oh and unrelated to this question, I am getting back to this translation again. I’ve been so distracted on the 3DS side of the gaming world, I apologize.

Can I just say you completely made my day when I found this blog? I have been wanting to play this game since it came out and I'm so looking forward to the translation when it's all finished up~<3 Thank you so much for doing this. (Also, I read on an early ask that you just have storyline translations left? Like the in game movies/skits and such, right? Good luck everyone! Do your best~!)

That's pretty much all that is left, yes! Some artes are having name changes and edits (the ones that don't have an official name in english) and some bugs that users have found like item unlock requirements not being shown. Go ahead and try the v1 patch! It's without story but very much playable!

It isn't. :P It's a simple translation, to make it easier to play for others. It's also to gain experience to work on other projects. I do like this game though, and it seemed like nobody else was going to start working on it so I did. :P

quick question, when the main stuff that have to translate is translated, will you make a patch for that then work on the story and stuff?

Yes. Pretty much all there is left is story stuff. Once the artes are localized a quick patch update will be released.

Do you have a link/doc for the in-game text during the game when the characters talk? :c I haven't yet downloaded the game but as soon as I hack my PSP/follow your instructions, I'm thinking of playing it! I might try my hardest (but I'm a beginner Japanese student using a dictionary) to try to translate line by line as I go along, and I was just wondering if I could contribute them to you?

That would be awesome! I have a public doc here (click) that has the battle dialogs (It's not all there yet, I just need to set aside a day to do this ^^ ) Unfortunately the skit style stuff isn't ready to be done yet... :/

Changes can also be reverted so don't waste any of your time vandalizing. :P I appreciate all the help I can get! This is a huge task but it'll get done quickly if it's more than just me doing it :) This is the battle story text for Chester's Comical scenario. One scenario at a time, and Chester's happens to be first. :D More pages will be added over the next few days, not all of the text is there ( Just up to ChesterxCless VS AsbelxCheria at the moment)

I know you said (and it's stated here) that the story is non-priority but I do hope that it will get translated as well, someday. It seems fan translations now are our only hope of getting the other Tales of games that Bamco doesn't want to release. Wishing you all the best! :D
