stalk : my muse gets caught by your muse trailing behind them, watching them. (charlotte)
Damien knew he was being followed as soon as he entered the marketplace. He’d been scouting the borders, taking mental notes as he sought out potential hot spots for raids. The Hideout needed better protection, traps, supplies, and he was wanting to be prepared for damn near anything at this point.
Hands tucked deep into his pockets, his head tilting downwards as if he was completely unaware of his lingering tail. She didn’t move like a demon, didn’t have the stealth and fluidity of a vampire, and certainly didn’t stalk like a werewolf–but there was no guaranteeing what she could or couldn’t be, and he felt for his switchblade as he turned a corner.
He heard the light crunch of loose gravel under toe, and as she came around to continue following him, he stepped forward and let the blade rest against the base of her neck. “Hope you had a good reason for following me.” He said quietly. “Because I have track record for getting rid of people that do.”
She’d seen the stranger interact with some of the other humans she knew at the Circus, otherwise, she wouldn’t be following him. The way the addressed him almost looked like he was in charge which was enough for Charlotte to go off of. Call it her own curiosity or testing her new skills that Pia taught her, but she wanted to see if she could find out where they all hid. And why she wasn’t there when she was taken all those years ago.
Getting too caught up in her own head, she nearly lost him, but she saw him turn a corner at the last minute. Quickening her pace, she rounded the corner and searched for him, only to find he discovered her first. A gasp was pulled from her as he pinned her to the wall, blade against her neck. Okay, clearly you are NOT as ready as you thought you were, you dumbass. Speaking of dumbass, it was time for Charlotte to play the helpless card like she’d done a million times before. “S-sorry!” She forced out, her hands going up in a defensive position, “Please don’t hurt me,” She insisted, her voice as scared as she could make it. “I’m human, I saw you at the Circus and I thought you were too.” It was a lame excuse, but she could only hope he believed her.
