sure, being a car mechanic wasn’t the most diligent of jobs in society, but to leo it was absolutely everything. -- he enjoyed his job more than most people and for that he could never complain. of course, today was the one day where every customer he was helping was an incessant asshole, and frankly, it just wasn’t leo’s day today. thankfully, it was almost time to get the hell out of that place, so he could leave and be in his own company for the night - until a car pulled up right into his zone, causing him to groan frustratingly. out walked from the car a feminine frame, and he knew he might have to stay just a tad longer to help this girl out; most of the other guys would tell her they’re closed, but he didn’t like doing that to paying customers. with a sigh, he threw his dirty towel over his shoulder, and walked up to her, “ hi miss. what can i help you with ? ”

it was unreal the way eman was feeling. not only did he have the music blasting through his ears all the way into his veins - but he felt invincible, as if he could do whatever the fuck he wanted, and not get hurt by anything or anyone. of course, that was just the molly talking, but it didn’t matter to eman, all that mattered was the full on bliss he was feeling right at this moment. of course, molly always gave you the nastiest comedown ever, but tomorrow morning was day 2 of the festival, so might as well pop some more again. as he swayed to the music, feeling his body practically go limp in wonderment, he stopped for a minute to look around and take in everything. that’s when he noticed her dancing at the back of the crowd, and from that minute, he couldn’t shake her loose - fuck all the music, and all the friends he was with, his head kept turning around to look at her because she was - unbelievable. -- and although, he’s never been one to shy away from girls, he felt like he was seeing his future flash before his eyes with this girl ( once again, the molly talking ), and next thing he knew, he quickly pushed his way out of the crowd to approach her. “ jesus christ. i’m sorry, i know you’ve gotten this 100 times tonight alone, but jesus christ. you are - you’re - wow. ” it was obvious to ANYONE, that this speechless mess of a boy in front of this random girl, was anything but sober.

this was, by far, the biggest festival jackson’s band had played yet. they played the evening set, on saturday, the second day of the festival - on the main fuckin’ stage. a hell of a lot of things were riding on this gig and his entire crew plus bandmates encouraged him to not party ( at least too hard ) or get involved with any amount of girls during their stay - watching the sets was 'permitted’, but he made a promise to them that he’d keep his shit together for the trip - and god dammit, it was barely friday and he was already crumbling under pressure. it was midday, peak of the festival, and man, he had dealt with nothing but the hottest girls practically throwing themselves at him, mainly because they knew he was the lead singer of leadbetter and wanted backstage - while jackson would usually play that game ( he had no problem with being labeled the ‘heartbreaker’ of the band ), he forced himself unwillingly to look away, and keep his mind set and steady. as he stood in the vip area, waiting for the rest of his friends to get back from wherever the fuck they were, he decided to ring them up, fearful that they’d miss one of jackson’s favorite bands set. “ yeah ? where the fuck are you ? they’re about to start, you idiot ! alright, i’m coming. ” he screamed out to his bandmate over the phone as if there weren’t hundreds of other people around; he was always so involved in his own world. jackson rushingly ran towards where his friends had relocated before knocking smack into someone half his size, and immediately felt liquid splash against his shorts. “ oh, for fuck’s sake man. ” he looked down to realize it was not a man at all, but an excruciatingly pretty girl - how cliche. “ aw, fuck. i’m sorry about that. did it spill on you too ? ”

felix‌:

             he didn’t understand why jackie felt the need to impress him so much. she had people fawning over her ass all the goddamn time, so why was she so obsessed with HIS approval specifically. he insulted her constantly and she did it back in a way that wasn’t as bad as she thought it was and that’s how things went. he was fine with it and he thought she was too, but apparently, he was wrong. felix’s eyes rolled. she just could NEVER shut up, could she? “ amongst other things. ” he grumbled. his eyes fell to the bag in her hand and they flickered between her face and back to the bag a couple times. “ jackie - what the fuck is that? ” he asked her. “ you’ve seriously gotta be kidding me right now. where the hell did you get that ?? ”

it was no secret to anyone that jackie was, a bit of a ‘stick in the mud’, with a sprinkle of ‘judgmental as hell’. it was more or less her brand, and while she never had a problem with it, others definitely did - felix being one of them. ignoring his eye rolls and disinterest in everything that spewed out of her mouth, she continued to bother him with her voice. of course, his utter shock was valid considering she’s made it loud and clear in the past that drugs ( including marijuana ) were never her thing. she had a smug grin on her face, staring back at him knowingly. “ jesus christ, felix ! keep your voice down, i don’t think it’s exactly legal to carry this much of it on you, plus if i got busted with it, that could hurt my dad’s business. but, my point still stands - i guess i’m not the princess you think i am after all. see ! i can prove you guys wrong. ” of course, it wasn’t like she was gonna smoke it, it was for their friends, but he didn’t need to think that. “ i bought it off of that one, weird dude that always flirts with me. he gave me a discounted price and everything. -- so, what do you think ? i did good right !? ”

            clementine didn’t even bother to look before she opened her mouth to say, “ being from the good side of town doesn’t mean shit - that i know. ” her parents and her brother were [ insert however many fucking years their ages added up to here ] of proof of that fact. “ when you wake up dead, you can come ask me. ” she told him. clementine let out a long sigh before walking around the front of his car and getting into it. “ my name’s clementine. ” she informed him with a very proud giggle. “ it’s a real pretty one, huh? at least i’ve always thought so. ” the girl settle her backpack in her lap and gazed at him for a moment. “ but if you do try to kill me, i’ll come back and haunt you. i’m too pretty and young to die right now and i’ll be real pissed if you take that away from me.”

god. he was not expecting someone as physically sweet-looking to be as feisty as she was - not that he was expecting anything, anyways, but it still came as a shock, and he couldn’t help but wonder if picking up a sharp tongued girl right now was possibly a mistake. although, he couldn’t take offense, she had every reason to be snappy. “ you make some valid points. ” dylan said to her in the midst of a breathy laugh. “ has anyone told you you’re a little scary before ? ” he teased, and made sure she knew he was only teasing by saying so with a smile on his face, but it wasn’t far from the truth either. as she got in the car, he leaned over to try to push open the door for the young girl, trying to be somewhat of a gentleman. “ never met anyone with that name before, so i think i’m obliged to say yeah, it’s a beautiful name - but, my favorite color happens to be orange so maybe i’m a little biased. ” his words were soft and slow, in no rush at all, despite having people to see and places to be. as he made another turn to go back on route to his location, he lifted his hands up as if ‘surrendering’ before quickly clutching the steering wheel. “ i wouldn’t dream of taking anything like that away from you. i’m a nice, chill guy you’ll come to find out in this car ride. -- by the way, where the hell am i taking you ? ‘cause i know where i’m going, but i don’t have a damn clue where you’re headed. where do you live ? ” dylan questioned, assuming that he’d be dropping her off at a house, not really knowing this girl’s quest.

            louie’s arms wrapped around her when she fell into his chest. “ not unless you can bring back the dead. but the lore around that says it’s a bad idea, so… ” he sighed deeply. “ everything is going to be O.K. - nobody’s gonna know we had anything to do with it. ” he promised her. the plan was fool proof - who didn’t fall for irony of a pretty prom queen killing herself? of course, she hadn’t actually done that, but what did all those idiots know? nothing. that’s why they were called ‘ idiots ’. “ now c’mon - we better get the fuck out of here before her parents come home or they’ll fuck us up. ” he nodded his head towards the door. part of him was just waiting for that feeling of guilt to settle. but the other part…the other part knew it was NEVER going to come.

she chuckled, a quiet laugh, against his chest. “ so no ouija board ? what a bummer. ” she grunted and mumbled lowly in his arms. despite them not being together for the longest amount of time YET, she felt so safe in his arms, and agreed with almost anything he said. he was wise, intelligent, and genuine beyond his years - that’s why their connection was so deep, because they were similar in that sense. donna leaned up to give him a delicate kiss on the cheek, grabbed his hand, and let him guide them out. “ whatever you say, captain. ” her voice was monotonous, feeling immensely exhausted from the sadness that waved over her. as they left the house, and got into his car, she couldn’t help but think about what they were leaving behind. “ well, let’s see how ape shit things go on monday, yeah ? ”

“hey, you. yeah, you! i saw you take my picture and i’m not mad, but i do need your help.” she said softly, hoping other people around them didn’t hear the nature of her conversation, especially considering what she was about to ask of the other person. “do you mind, uh… god, this sounds weirder in person. can you just go with me out to the car? they’re way less aggressive towards me when i’m with another person and you’re kind of, um… taller than me. it’s a whole thing. i’ll buy you lunch?”

considering leo was quite the loner, his trips to the theaters were always during the daytime, when less people were there, keeping to himself. after the film ( which he enjoyed very much ) , he headed over to the nearest coffee shop, that was well - overpriced - but he was in the city, so what else would you expect ? as he waited for his overpriced coffee, sitting in the corner of the tightly packed store, he noticed a swarm of paparazzi waiting outside. leo wasn’t much of a starstruck person, but he did enjoy watching the commotion of it all from an outsider’s perspective. as he dazed into the direction they were all fixated upon, leo couldn’t help but notice that the tiny girl looked awfully familiar. -- and that’s when it hit him; she was the girl from the movie he just watched ! what are the odds of that ? a little shocked at the coincidence, he googled a photo of her, and lifted it up slightly to see if his eyes were playing tricks on him. quickly, he smashed his phone down into his lap as she stormed towards him. “ oh, no - no i didn’t take your picture - ” cut off by her string of words, he listened to her desperation. staring at her in disbelief for a moment, he could tell that she was entirely serious about this, so he sighed, grabbed his coffee off the counter, and began to take off his jacket. “ here, you can use this to cover your face. i’ll lead the way for you, just hold onto my shirt - or something. ”

as hard as jackie tried to act casual, she could tell her body language was displaying otherwise. most of her friends smoked actively, but that was not something she was ever into - she hated her expensive clothes reeking of it, and hated the way it stayed in your hair. of course, just her luck, her friends begged and pleaded for her to pick up THEIR weed, which made no sense because she wasn’t even smoking it ! yet here jackie was, holding a little brown baggy of weed, as she stood outside the parking lot of the diner her friends were supposed to be at. soon, she saw a familiar face - felix. they were apart of the same friend group but never got along in any capacity. he thought she was a stuck up brat, and she thought he was a loser, so they constantly argued. “ psst ! felix ! ” she called out to him, as she stood in the behind alley of the tiny, family-friendly diner. “ you know how you’re always calling me a princess ? and stuck up ? ” she egged him on, excited to prove him otherwise. “ well, i think i have something that’ll change your mind. take a peek. ” she whispered to him, flashing open the bag for just a second so that he could see she wasn’t always such a good two shoes.

            this hadn’t been her first attempt at running away - she could - in great detail - recall times in which she’d tried at the following ages: 9, 12, 13, 16 ( with a boyfriend her parents HATED and she planned to ditch as soon as they got to some big city stuffed with rich people ), and now. the first three tries, she’d barely made it to mainstreet. the attempt with her boyfriend at the time, he got pulled over for speeding and by that point, her parents had already ‘ donated ’ enough to the police for them to start searching even though it’d only been a couple hours. but this time - she’d planned it well. and clearly, she’d done very well because she was already two towns over ( with the help of some surprisingly non-creepy old men ). had it not been for his headlights, clementine wouldn’t have even noticed him sinc she herself had music blasting in her earbuds. she came to a stop and looked at him through the open window, not saying anything for a few moments as she considered who she was looking at. “ so then why would you tell me it’s unsafe? isn’t that only gonna make me trust you less? ” she asked him. “ i mean, yeah i’d rather have a ride, but for all i know - you’re gonna try to kill me? you look nice and you’re cute an all, but that could just be your ‘ thing ’. ”

admittedly, it wasn’t the smartest idea for dylan to offer some random, strange girl a ride this late at night, minutes away from one of the biggest deals of his life - but dylan felt this was a good deed that perhaps he’d be rewarded for, you know, like good karma. plus, she was good looking ( even from a distance, he could tell that ! ) which means the perverts and creeps would be after her far more likely at this time of night. on top of that, he was just a smidge baked. as soon as she started talking to him, he couldn’t help but laugh, she was sorta funny. “ well, lucky for you, i’m not from this side of town. i live on the other side. so you can’t really group me with these people. look. ” dylan flipped out his driver license for her to see, which in hindsight is most likely not the smartest thing to do, but he did it anyways. “ nice and cute ? thank you. -- but no killing here, no ‘things’ here, just tryna help you out, if you let me. what’s your name ? and by the way, for all i know, you roaming around the streets could be your ‘thing’ - i don’t know if you’re gonna kill me either ! so we’re both taking risks here, aren’t we ?”

            “ so what? she has to seem like she’s going out with a bang - thus using words that make her sound like she had a fucking thesaurus open. ” louie countered. “ it’s like a badge for how shitty she was in school. ” while donna wrote, he walked around the room, looking at how much shit she had that probably cost more than his car ( that wasn’t saying much, though - the stupid thing wasn’t even worth $200 ). “ yeah - sounds great. ” he nodded, looking over at her from her dead best friend’s closet. “ then we get outta here and watch your other two ‘ friends ’ pretend like they didn’t ever consider killing her themselves. ”

running her fingers through her hair in frustration, she just nodded in compliance with her boyfriend, who seemed to be a lot better at dealing with than she was. “ okay, okay. you’re right. ” she mumbled as she pressed the ballpoint against the paper, miming the handwriting perfectly. nothing felt real, everything felt like she was in some poorly written book, and she wanted out desperately. alas, this was her reality, and it was fucking terrifying. as she finished off the note, she read over it a couple times, fearing that it wouldn’t be perfect enough to mimic her poor ex-friend. as she placed it atop of her vanity with the red pen next to it, she looked at louie, “ it’s done. ” she stood up, and turned around quickly to face him, “ maybe they’ve considered it. -- but none of them are stupid enough to actually fucking do it. that’s where we’re different i guess. i just wanted her to stop being a bitch, not DIE. -- but there’s no going back now, is there ? ” donna sighed in absolute distress, and let her head fall right into her boyfriend’s chest, wanting him to comfort her more than anything.

as he cruised the streets in his 1970 dodge charger ( that definitely looked like it was from the 70s ), he kept the windows down, and his music blasting to the point that he’d probably woken up some sleeping families at this hour. the radio was playing ‘jet airline’ by steve miller band, one of his favorite songs, so naturally - his hands smacked back and forth rhythmically to the music, and he screamed out the words for his own pleasure. of course, this was a business run he was on, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t have some enjoyment of his own. as he drove through the freeway underpass, about 10 minutes away from one of his biggest sales yet, he noticed a feminine frame walking in her lonesome on the opposite side of the road. of course, this peaked dylan’s interest and concern, so he made a hasty illegal u-turn ( as he carried a boat load of coke in his trunk, mind you ) , slowing down to pull up beside her, lowering the music so she could hear him. “ hey - um, you lost or somethin’ ? it’s insanely late, and i’m pretty sure this area is well, as unsafe as it gets. need a lift ? ”

            “ c’mon, donna - she was a shitty excuse for a best friend. ” louie scoffed. it was something he’d never understood about people - them calling those they HATED their friends. “ even in death, it’s her world and we’re all just living in it. ” he nodded at her instructions and brought her what she asked. “ i dunno - uh… ” he trailed off, considering his words. “ you might be surprised to find out what i’ve done - but to me, suicide was the only answer to the…myriad of problems this life has put in front of me. ”

although everything louie was saying happened to be the blunt truth, it didn’t help donna’s racing mind. she tried to see things from his perspective because perhaps he was being rational ? the hell if she knew. “ i know she was ! god, everyone knows that ! it’s just - i’m sorry, i don’t really know what to think in this situation, i’ve never accidentally killed somebody before ! ” she shut her eyes, and took a deep breath, trying to calm herself from this unbelievable rampage she was on. as her shaky hand held the pen close to the paper, she nodded in approval to louie’s words. “ okay that - that sounds like her - minus the word myriad... the last vocabulary test we took, she missed it. ” as donna’s words wrote in cursive that was identical to her friend’s, she spoke out loud as she was writing, putting down what came to her, “ most people would think that beauty and popularity would make life easy. -- but what no one could see is that, i had feelings too. -- does that sound okay ? ”

ever since maddie ended their two year relationship over a phone call last month, leo hadn’t been right.  -- and it was no mystery to see that he wasn’t the same either. he’s always been a quiet guy who stuck to himself, almost always brooding, but when she was around, he seemed somewhat better - at least that’s what the neighbors told him. walking downstairs to check his mail, practically sulking the whole way down, it was 9 pm on a saturday night and he was in a dark grey robe, with a messy head of hair, and flip flops - this was the ultimate look of ' i just got dumped, how bout you ? ’. but since it was saturday and almost any sane person was out taking advantage of the night, he figured there’d be no one around to judge his look. to his dismay, as he reached the rows of mail boxes to his apartment complex, his neighbor was standing right in front of her own. leo quickly looked down at his outfit, slightly embarrassed, but muttered out, “ oh, hello. sorry, wasn’t expecting anyone to be down here right now. ”

            “ nope - it’s real. ” louie’s focus moved back to the body. death really was the only way to get this girl to shut up, wasn’t it? he shrugged at her series of questions. “ yeah. why not? ” he asked rhetorically. “ it doesn’t matter if they’d believe it - it matters that they’d all eat this shit up. ” he gestured to the body and looked at donna. “ it’s the perfect tragedy. she seemingly had everything she could EVER want - money, looks, boys who wanted fuck her, and popularity. so how ironically and disturbingly beautiful would it be that she killed herself? they’d never see it coming, but they’d all ‘ understand ’ it without explanation. a-and she’s a fucking bitch, right? ” he laughed loudly, a hint of malice mixed inside. “ i know it and you know it - everybody knows it. but people are going to pretend they loved her and they’re gonna go on about how much they ‘ miss her ’ and all that shit. ”

her heart was racing so fast she was worried she’d get a heart attack - but that was the least of their problems right now. this was so fucked. as she sat there losing her mind trying to focus on anything but the dead body in front of them, donna struggled to listen to louie, falling in and out of conversation. “ b-but, she’s my best friend - oh my god, she WAS my best friend. ” her words didn’t make sense, nothing did right now, but what louie was saying kinda did. before she had time to even think through what she was doing, she nodded in agreement, trying to do everything in her power to rid themselves of this ABSOLUTE mess. “ okay, okay louie - can you just bring me a pen and some paper. a RED pen, because she’d never write in blue or black ink for a suicide note. ” she was talking so fast, she could barely keep up with herself. “ what should we write ? i don’t even know where to begin. ”
