two-cruel-faces.
“A leader must decorate themselves, and allow the citizenry to follow their example.” The fact that he lifted all of the furniture himself needs no mentioning. Vlad crosses to his desk and touches a button on a rather out-of-place modern kettle, which begins to heat itself, and sits on the couch across from his Master. “You would do well to consider your own abode, Master. It would cast a great impression upon the Servants.”
Ritsu nods in understanding as Vlad speaks, their attention following the lancer as he prepares the kettle. But the advice turning to them, that makes them look down for a little bit, briefly uncertain about how to phrase their perspective. “Mm, well, maybe. I don’t really think I have much of my own to decorate with. Even before I came to Chaldea, I had a pretty simple apartment. I wouldn’t even know what to add, I mean– the stuff that was there in the first place is all that’s necessary.” Meaning a table, laptop, chair, and bed. Not like they need anything else. Sometimes Servants visit, but then Ritsu just sits on the mattress and talks. “I don’t really want to be a king. I know I have to lead you all, and I don’t mind it, but I wanna be approachable rather than impressive out of battle, y’know?”
So that is his Master. A simple man, something to be appreciated but so far departed from himself. “I see. That is also a way to lead. As long as you rule true, they will appreciate your honest nature.” Probably. The kettle begins to steam. Vlad rises to pour water into two delicate, porcelain cups with tea bags and sets them down on saucers. “This method of serving tea is shameful. However, these are the resources left to us, no matter how disgraceful it may be. Tell me about the life you once lived.”
