I love making details 😎
I made a lantern!
I’m making mother of pearl texture for earrings of my character. It’s very close but still needs more work.
I’m working on textures of my main character this week. I’ve been just making background assets for two months so making textures for characters is a lot more fun! Unfortunately it means I had to buy a subscription for Substance Painter again… 😔 It’s expensive but totally worth it! They finally added fabric tear tools!!! It’s so so so so much easier to make damaged fabric details now. And so much easier to edit them. I might have to go back and add more details to the clothings of Nuri and Eri.
I’ve been making a new character for my animation project. I wanted to work on it wherever I go so I used Nomad Sculpt for sculpting and Uniform for retopo. It’s amazing that I can do this on my ipad!
It took days to figure out a procedural workflow to get a clean uv AND low ploy count for a 3d model with edge damage. I’m going to use this method for other models I have to create in the future.
I made custom wall textures using COPs in Houdini. Working in COPs network looked intimidating at first but I got used to it pretty fast after watching the 5-hour tutorial explaining every COPs node. I’m going to finish making the interior of my character’s house this week.
I've been studying APEX rigging in Houdini for weeks and I think it's finally paying off. I'm almost done with rigging and really satisfied with the results. I also made my characters(and their clothings!) into assets so that I can open them anywhere. And lastly, modeling and rigging a new character is nearly finished as well. I still don't have a name for her so I gotta think hard this weekend!
I have tons of assets to make for my project but I want to start making styleframes :-(( gotta be patient...
I’m working on a short animation project these days. This particular story has been stuck in my mind for a long time and finally I have abilities and time to create it. Hopefully I can finish it next year. In the age of gen ai, creating art like this feels special.
(figured out how to apply secondary motion node to APEX animation and then put the rig back to APEX!)
Just checking in. This blog is not dead!
I’m studying APEX rigging and animation workflow in Houdini 21. It’ challenging because it’s Houdini(duh) and there are few learning materials out there but very rewarding and fun. I want to make a new short animation of my characters using the new APEX workflow.
Meet Saja!
Nuri and Eri stumble upon Saja when they go out for a walk!
Nuri finds Saja cute and friendly but Eri is a bit wary of them because Eri read about this creature in a book. The book said that they are very scary but… they are not scary? 🦁
*Saja was inspired by the lion mask dance, which is one of the traditional Korean mask dances. Saja means lion in Korean.
3D Artist Chan, also known as twomothersuns, explained how they created the artwork.
My work got featured on 80 Level. Thank you!

Eri loves reading books to people who are special to them. Today they are reading a book about mythical beasts found around the world.
BGM - Sea of Teeth by Sparklehorse
Eri finds this "Lion" beast particularly fascinating. 🧐
Nuri and Eri are now protected under South Korea copyright law! I've always wanted to register my original characters because it feels official. It's finally done. haha It was surprisingly easy to do and the registration fee wasn't so costly.
