Black Doldrums - City Lights
Saw this killer psych duo last night.
I sat down with Deap Vally before their sold-out London show and talked about their new album Femejism, record labels and touring with a baby.
My interview with the awesome Deap Vally is up now. Hope you’re excited for the album - it’s incredible!
Fuoco - My Girl
Free download on Soundcloud
Splurge - Drinking Poison
On their new album "Love", which came out in May, duo Muscle and Marrow is challenging the current understanding of "feminine music".
Muscle and Marrow’s second album is heavy, dark and simply beautiful. It sometimes reminds me of Chelsea Wolfe, sometimes of King Woman. Read my review here.
Long Limbs - All My Friends Are Older Than Me
Another duo from Sheffield.
Radical Boy - Butt Crisis
These guys from Sheffield are a great live band. Check them out. Their EPs are on bandcamp for free.
Skinny Milk - Here It Comes
I’m a massive fan of this Brighton duo. They sound like Fuzz as a two-piece live, same kind of energy.
Deap Vally - Smile More
Nearly exactly one year ago I posted a live version of this song. Now they have released the studio version and announced their second album “Femejism”, out on September 16th.
And I am not ashamed of my mental state And I am not ashamed of my body weight And I am not ashamed of my rage And I am not ashamed of my age And I am not ashamed of my sex life Although I wish it were better I am not ashamed I am no one’s wife Although the idea does sound kinda nice […]
And yes I am a feminist That is why I started doing this And sometimes I am full of bitterness But I am trying to work through this
The Cheating Hearts - Another Lover
Garage-punk from Germany
Thee Gravemen - Rockin’ in the Graveyard
Swedish garade-blues duo
Radidas - California
Psychedelic two-piece from South England.
Skinny Milk - C’mon
Skinny Milk from Brighton are a bass/drums duo who sound like if Fuzz were a two-piece. High energy psych-rock. See these guys live if you can!
Would be awesome if you could take a few seconds to vote for the amazing DOLLS to play Truck Festival. You don’t have to sign in or anything. Support rad new bands! :)
Skating Polly - Stop Digging
Kamikaze Girls - Black Coffee
Riot Grrrl two piece from Leeds/ London
Since 2013 Kira Clark and Keith McGraw are making dark, experimental rock as Muscle and Marrow. Their sophomore album "Love" will be released in May.
Duo Muscle and Marrow, from Portland, Oregon, released their atmospheric debut album “The Human Cry” back in 2014. Now they’ve announced their second album. It will simply be called “Love”, consist of seven tracks and come out on May 27th via Flenser Records. As the title is suggesting, the lyrics on the album centre upon love – but they also look at loss as well. Singer Kira Clark lost a family member during the writing process of the album, which led to death haunting the lyrics.
If you’re a fan of Chelsea Wolfe, Zola Jesus ect (dark, experimental drone-rock/metal) check these guys out!
