Last night, a representative from the Department of International Magical Cooperation reports, fugitive and Public Enemy No. 2, Alexander Naples was sighted and pursued by Aurors and Parisian Secret Police (the French equivalent of Aurors) in the high streets of Downtown Paris last night at 2:15 AM, local time. According to the press release provided by the Department, intelligence from French authorites had reported numerous sightings of Naples in downtown Paris, turned in by concerned wizarding citizens. The International Magical Commission for Law and Order, a cooperative organization created to aide the enforcement of international laws and catch and detain criminals wanted across the globe, had recently upgraded Naples to a Class 2 to Class 1 International Suspect, and took this intelligence very seriously, organizing a task force of French and British magical law enforcement officials of the highest caliber in the hopes of bringing Naples to justice.
According to sources, after staking out what was believed to be Naples place of residence for the entire day, the Aurors and Secret Police moved in around 2:00 AM, blasting open the door to Naples' flat, finding it barren and empty. Almost immediately afterwards, reports an eyewitness, the flat was engulfed in an inferno of fiendfyre, a trap laid by the cunning Naples. Leaving a good number of the task force distracted and incapacitated, it appears Naples sought to make his escape at this point. However the commission had planned for such an eventuality and had cordoned off all exits within a 2 mile radius. Naples was sighted by a pair of Aurors as he attempted to flee down a narrow side street and immediately pursued, and soon what remained of the commission was chasing Naples through the streets and alleyways of Paris, firing curses and countercurses and causing a great deal of damage. The pursuit came to a swift end however, when having given chase for 15 minutes, he propelled himself across the River Seine and caused a massive eruption in the river, dousing the surrounding area and leaving a large crater.
In the course of the nights events, 2 Parisian Secret Police and 1 Auror were killed by Fiendfyre, with 10 other members of the commission in St. Mungo's for severe magical burns, and 6 other commission members sustained injuries in the pursuit. Alexander Naples is considered highly dangerous by the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Naples is a noted serial killer and is thought to be responsible for the deaths of nearly 63 people, including 4 Aurors.
Little is known about the circumstances of Naples' killing spree, that has spanned 16 years sporadically. In 2034, following the death of his wife, and the gruesome murder of his son, Naples was found in a small hamlet approximately 15 miles from his home torturing and magically dismembering two men, both known werewolves. When confronted by Magical Law Enforcement Officials, he attacked, and killed all on the scene. As time went on Naples has murdered a number of wizards and muggles, and is often responsible for the deaths of any Law Enforcement Officials sent to pursue or apprehend him. Sources say according to current intelligence, he seems to be returning to Britain for the first time in 7 years.
Citizens are advised to be on their guard to report any sightings of Alexander Naples. He is most likely do be mad or deranged, and should not be approached, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Naples is incredibly skilled in powerful and explosive dark magic, has been known to take hostages, and is a supremely competent Legilimens.
If sighted, do not attempt to report this sighting until he has moved a safe distance from the area, the Ministy advises. In these dark times with crimes against wizards and muggles alike on the rise, and mysterious happenings across the wizarding world, the Ministry's latest bungle is yet another blow in the public's already waning support for our government. It is up to each witch and wizard to be on the lookout for their magical brethren and to keep each other safe.
