You can see a full moon in one of the establishing shots of the house near the beginning. But according to the Internet, the moon on June 9, 1954 (canonical date of the film's events,) the moon should have been Waxing Gibbous.

Hot take:

I *hated* Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door.

I played the first Paper Mario in 2000. I had an N64, and played the hell out of that game (despite not being particularly drawn to RPGs at the time.)

Fast forward to 2008. I got a Wii and LOST MY MIND over Super Paper Mario. Innovative, fun, and used the control system incredibly well. I wish I could be playing it right now, but my Wii is packed away and I don't know if the controllers work. Super Paper Mario is an all-timer, top 20 game of all time for me.

Fast forward to...2022? I get "Paper Mario: The Origami King" for the Switch. It's pretty good. It's fine. And when I look at lists of Paper Mrio game rankings, it's usually middle-to-top.

"But obviously, Thousand Year Door is the BEST," says nearly everyone. It was for GameCube (which I never owned,) but there's a remake for Switch.

So I finally play the remake of TYD for Switch. And...it's bad. It's bad, folks. Bloated with annoying missions that involve backtracking for sometimes 15 minutes, just to end up back where you started. Tedious combat with no sense of fun whatsoever. A bare minimum of the sense of humor that defines the series. And then a final boss that is brutally unforgiving unless you have an optimized setup AND luck on your side.

Bad game. Worst of the four I've played in the series. Never want to pick it up again. Glad it's over. Goodbye.
