It’s been a while since Rin ran away from home, since he admitted his sexuality to his mother and confessed his feelings for Makoto. Things had been a bit awkward at home once he came back, Gou and his mother were having lunch in the kitchen when he crossed the front door and announced himself. Rin expected a different reaction from his mother than the one he got that day; she just stood up, walked straight toward him and hugged him tightly without saying anything else.
Still until this day, Rin couldn’t understand what that hug meant. Was she accepting his sexuality? Was she just worried? Rin never asked…
Today, as almost every weekend now, Rin was visiting his mother’s house and felt slightly surprised when he found Makoto at the door.
“Makoto?” He asked, looking back over his shoulder just to make sure nobody was watching them from the inside, he walked out the door and stood in front of his boyfriend with a shy smile on his face. “Hey, hi. I… thought you were going out to the movies with Haru and the others today.”
He was still not used to the idea of having this kind of relationship with Makoto, but he would never complain about it either. To be honest, he had been a completely different person ever since they started officially dating. According to Gou, he now smiled more often and was in a better mood than ever before. Well, that could be part truth, because ever since he kissed Makoto’s lips for the first time, he felt like a completely different person.
“A surprise?” He raised an eyebrow. “I hope you are aware that today is not my birthday…”
for a moment he tilted his head, then he remembered. ah, yes! The movies, that was the cover story he'd adopted so he could get the final touches of his surprise ready without Rin talking to him until he was ready, which was now. He rubbed his head, shy and somewhat ashamed he'd lied to someone he loved. ' ah, i did say that, didn't i? the thing is, i may have told a little ... tiny weenie lie. '
he chuckled softly, ' i know! can't i surprise my .. my boyfriend simply because i want to .. ' he stepped closer, taking Rin's face in his hands and lightly kissing his forehead. ' you trust me though, don't you? ' that was his biggest fear, that Rin would reject his surprise, he wouldn't want it or maybe he would find it stupid or unreasonable and that Makoto had wasted his time. Well, it was too late now.
stepping back again, he put his hands in his pocket. ' i thought that maybe we could go away somewhere... together, i mean, you don't have to be back at Samezuka for a few days and i never see you ... '
” Makoto-senpai ! I know you are the captain, but I know what I’m talking about. there has to be something different.”
Perhaps her rational thinking had slipped briefly so she could enjoy a sight of muscles from a closer perspective than usual and with an excuse. But there was still a concern for her team.
she spoke with such conviction that he could practically feel his resolve slipping. How did she know what she was talking about, Makoto doubted there was even a science to her way of thinking. ' w-well, i suppose -- i am able to do more in a shorter time span ... maybe, just maybe there is something new ... i guess? '
Soon, it wasn’t long before her anxiety washed away entirely, much like the ocean’s current, she was once again calmed. Even after the unfamiliar male reciting her name in which she referred to in third person, she didn’t mind, in fact; she welcomed the idea of those catching onto her unintentional habit, after all; it saved her the hassle of introducing herself.
But it appeared as though he was very much sincere, based upon the frantically apologetic disposition he feigned, it did not seem fake in any way, shape or form. A smile began to emerge through the corners of her lips as her head turned over her shoulder, glancing towards the kittenish brunette.
"It’s alright, all is well. Juvia loves the ocean, especially when it’s calm. Sometimes though, when the tide picks up, Juvia just wants to dive right into it and swim to the very bottom of the sea !!”
he was looking out to the ocean himself, no longer fearing it, but he imagined there would forever be a part of him that didn't trust it. The ocean was wild water, pools were tamed, that's how he saw it anyone. Out the corner of his eye he saw her turn to him, so he looked back, smiling himself.
' t-the very bottom? ' he laughed nervously, not at her of course, he was impressed at her brave and bold way of talking, ' i imagine that'd be pretty hard, huh? ' he rocked on his heels, ' i swim, but never really in the ocean. you remind me of a friend of mine, Juvia - do you swim? '
as though an afterthought, ' i'm makoto, by the way! '
“Of course.”
Leans down for a final, slightly deeper kiss, before pulling himself up off the larger frame below him to begin his venture to the kitchen.
Stretching as he stood, his shoulders flexed as he lifted his arms above his head in an arc. “Do you want anything besides the curry?” ”Be honest, too. I want to cook for you.”
makoto watched him go, a lovesick smile in place all the while. Haru did it a lot often more then one would think, this act of spoiling the brunet in the most subtle yet most incredible ways. Makoto scrambled around, changing his position so he was sat cross legged, watching the other move around.
’ ah, haru! the curry is enough! honestly, i want to spend time with you too, and how can i do that when you’re in the kitchen? the curry will be fine and uh, thank you, ‘ had he already thanked him? ’ … again. ‘

The blond handed over a cup of water.
"Was it really that bad?”
he gratefully takes the cup, taking a large drinking and wiping his mouth on his sleeve before speaking. ' nagisa, you had a piece of it too, right? surely you can taste how bad it was? bleh, i don't think my mouth will ever work right again. '

And he couldn’t say he liked the way Iwatobi looked at swimming. Of course he wasn’t say that swimming couldn’t be a fun thing to do. For some people, he had witnessed just how important relays were. But right now, he simply didn’t understand. A part of him, was perhaps, jealous and this feeling made Sousuke just a little frustrated.
“You have… a lot of potential. But I’m assuming you’re planning a future away from swimming." Teal eyes were filled with surprise when Makoto told him Rin talked about him. He always thought…
“Rin’s head is always full of you guys though. And me being scouted isn’t all that important."
viridian gaze fell awkwardly to the floor, he knew there was a difference between Samezuka and Iwatobi. His own team was four boys who just wanted to swim as much as they could before life took a hold of things. Well, three boys and one who got dragged in kicking and screaming. But, Samezuka, they had easily over two dozen members, many who saw futures in swimming and some - Sousuke and Rin, included - who saw nothing but swimming in their futures.
makoto felt bad, he felt like he had no right to talk about swimming as light heartedly as he did in front of Sousuke, but he didn't let onto that and answered the question presented to him as best he could, ' ah, i don't know where i'm gonna go ... thank you, though, but i don't think i'm that good. it'd be too risky to put me in a serious competition ... ' he sighed, but smiled quickly after, ' there's never really a guarantee i'll win ... '
' eh? rin talks about us? aha! it's all good stuff i hope! i just remember him talking about you when we were younger, he said you approached swimming differently ... but you're still one of his best friends, ' makoto's head tilted, ' it's very impressive, yamazaki-kun! '

The redhead gazed at the cheerful boy before her. She’s not usually complemented on her choice of fashion, so it was certainly a surprise. Most would just look at her oddly. His complement did appear genuine though so she responded with a smile and nod.

it was only after the compliment had passed his lips did the other realise how odd it probably sounded. There was nothing wrong with complimenting others, of course, but it was probably odd for one stranger to do it to another without any context. However, this lady didn't seem to take offence, and that spurned Makoto on further, she interested him. He liked her.
' ah! oh, it's no problem! i really like it! c - can i ask why you're wearing it? it looks really ... important. aren't you worried about ruining it? '
“Yeah! Don’t you see the girls look at us guys, Makoto?”
His voice came out with a small dreamy chuckle afterwards, scratching the back of his neck with a shy smile on his lips. His eyes opened wide again, and he nodded enthusiastically with a rise of his hand to salute with a wide smile.
“Y-Yes, Makoto-senpai! Thank you!”
' girls? ' makoto was starting to see some sort of ulterior motive behind the smaller boys passion for swimming. Still, it would still be impossible to deny how good he is, so thank God to those girls, he supposed? ' i - i can't say i've noticed any girls looking ... not at me at least. ' the quick transition of the salute had him jumping slightly, somewhat fearing he was going to get smacking in the face. But, he laughed, raising his hands and showing that the other's actions were unnecessary, ' ah, don't mention it! happy to help! '
