Troutfest 2015
It's been a busy past few of weeks or so for me getting ready for Troutfest 2015. I got to see a bunch of good folks there, and came home pretty wooped. I didn't get a whole lot of photos, but I'm including some from a few friends.
If you didn't make it out this year, you missed something special.
Pat Dorsey and his wife Kim were in town for Troutfest, and my co-conspirator at the shop, Chris, guided both of them on the Guadalupe for some trout the Friday before Troutfest.

Pat is a serious tailwater guy and a good friend. He has the best-looking nymph box out there. Seriously. The guy even insures it.
Meanwhile, I was fortunate enough to have my buddy Winston from All Water Guides jet Kelly Galloup up to some good water on the Lower Colorado in hopes of locating a few river bass.
It was a cool morning and kept threatening to dump rain on us, so I figured we'd have a banner day out, especially with at least one good fisherman in the boat (Galloup, not me.)
So, of course, we boated 3 fish total instead and dealt with 30+ mph gusts all day. But, I did get what's close to my biggest Guadalupe Bass ever.

Even though the fish didn't want to cooperate much, we had a fantastic time out.
The rest of the weekend was a bit of a blur. We were pretty swamped in the booth for both days, and just like that, it was over and done. Although, we made some time for some fun. I had probably the most hilarious meal ever with Kelly, Pat and Kim, and Chris. If you run in to Kelly, ask him about those Texas Onion Rings...

We all headed out separate ways on Sunday. The Dorseys were trying to hurry back to CO and hoping to not get stuck. Actually, I think Pat wanted to get stuck here so he could get some Torchy's. Kelly actually did get stuck for a couple days, so I was able to meet him for some BBQ Monday night before he flew out the next day.
I came away from the weekend with a lot of great stories, a ton of laugh, and a few more things to try both on the vise and the water.
Oh, and some rowing tips from Kelly.
