(“Kaito stop it at once or I’ll spat.) – she warned him in her mind, although she remained calm on the outside. They were still in public. Kaito was still a prince and she was…well, his fiancée. Although Nunnally wanted to think of him as of a friend. Kaito, Hideaki and she were almost like siblings, when they were children. And now, for whatever reasons, Kaito seemed to…hate her? That was so unfair!
“What is that something? How do I look at you…? Kaito, I really…really don’t understand you…” – don’t recognize you; her voice was seemingly calm, but laced with sadness – “Why are you pushing me away?” – is it because you don’t want to marry me so much? Being an adult is such a burden.
And then she noticed his eyes on her breast. (“Kaito!????) – she internally screamed, but did nothing letting his gaze travel on her now womanly shapes. The faint pink on her cheeks was the only sign that she noticed. But it was not for the reason Kaito might have thought. It wasn’t the first time something like that had happened to her. Nunnally knew she was she was pretty or rather that men fancied her. It was not that she had not seen their lingering gaze on her before. But it was the first time she…enjoyed it? She wanted to think Kaito still liked her. Thought she was beautiful and interesting. But instead he was offering her…well, what exactly?
Fortunately, his next words brought some ease between them.
“I have. But not quite as tall as you are. You are still much taller. I guess I’ll never catch up with you.” – it was good to lighten the mood. It seemed that “ her old” Kaito was back.
“With what agreement?” – she repeated somewhat sheepishly; did he mean the marriage agreement? Was she all right with it? How could anyone be all right when had nothing to say about their future? When it was your parent making the decision you cannot refuse? Was it why Kaito was so irritated with her? Was his opinion as unimportant as hers? She only hoped there was no-one else he cared about. But even if she then became more concerned, uncertain and perhaps even frightened with their marriage prospect (than, indeed, she was before), she gently took his arm (even if not truly offered to her).
“How could I be ever sad or disappointed with…you? Why wouldn’t I be happy about the arrangement?” – Kaito was a perfect choice; why couldn’t he see himself in a way she did – “I have had nothing to say about it, but I am so happy…it’s you…Kaito…” – she whispered into his arm – “There couldn’t be anyone better for me…than you... You know me well and you know who I am not…”
“How about you? Am I a disappointed for you? You know I am no proper lady…”
“But if there is…” – no! She couldn’t finish the sentence;
“But I’ll understand if…if you…” – reject me – “As you said…we’re not in love…or anything…” – well, definitely you.
