I was going to translate the text on the enemy sheets Amir has behind his FM pizza screen, but they're really low res which makes the vowels hard to tell apart unfortunately
WIP of a silksong piece I never finished and thinking about picking back up again. I started it last year, got to this point within a week, and then I was focussed on warframe art because tennotober started up.
Updating my blog theme, and while I'll need to make hollow knight oraxia way smaller for the narrow layout I'm liking it so far.
Need to find a place for my old header (love my old octopus horse guy, it needs to be put Somewhere in here) and might mess with the css some more to move things around, but loving what it looks like.
starting work on a follow-up comic for my tennocon piece, maybe 2-3 pages? Not done sequential art before so gonna take a bit (I hear the book framed ink is a good resource for it), but gonna be worth it
My piece "Bury Him" got selected! I'm so happy people like it as much as they do and I still can't believe it's going to be physically printed and displayed at tennocon this year :D
Also my evil intentions with this one was to get as many people to cry as possible so my work here is done :p
(Edit: They posted all the winners up on the forum! It's a much better quality version than what tumblr allowed so go look at mine and everyone else’s amazing art there)
Gonna put some progress shots under the cut + talk about them a bit
The second I finished the quest I had the idea of Adis being buried like a seed and a tree blooming from him to counteract the effect of the terraforming egg and healing the landscape like some kind of anti-Hexxus. I mostly set the goal of submitting it so that I would actually finish it instead of repainting it forever, I've not really painted anything like this before so my process involved a lot of breaks where I watched oil painting tutorials, took photos of trees for reference, or booted the game for screenshots of Perita.
On to the process shots:
I knew how I wanted it to roughly look so I quickly converged on an overall composition. Didn't take me too long to do the sky and Adis (I did straight up forget to paint the suns until later though, oops), and I kept this tree around until literally a couple days before the submission deadline as I was pretty happy with how it all looked together. Ended up removing the physical tree roots in favour of just the glowing eidolon ones because it looked messy and was taking away from Adis since he's harder to see, and decided to move the camera into the mouth of a cave so it could be bordered by the Perita cave growths and fungus.
Pretty solid start, I liked the overall composition based on my messy sketching and all that was really left would be painting it all in. Easy Peasy, how hard can that all be to paint, it's just rocks right?
Anyway I kept repainting the cliffs, turns out they're hard to get right, who knew :P They just kept not coming out how I wanted them to, they felt either too detailed or not detailed enough, and always too close to the tree perspective wise to work. And on top of that I didn't really know how I was going to blend the see-through underground part Adis is buried in so it was clear it was a hill the tree was on top of in front of the distant cliffs.
So at this stage, a couple weeks out from the deadline, I decided to just take the risk of changing the composition entirely and use a larger canvas. I already wanted to repaint the cliffs again anyway to reintroduce the waterfalls I had at the start and try to push them further into the distance, and also decided to redo the tree at the same time so it was more realistic. This eliminated the need for the weird see-through hill I was struggling to make work, and it also gives Adis some space to really emphasise how alone he is down there. It also leads the eye so you see the tree well before needing to lean in for the emotional gut punch as you realise he's what the tree is growing from, beforehand you'd see him too quickly for it to have the same impact.
I was initially painting the tree in a similar way as my original one but it looked overly detailed and kind of weird, so I ended up watching more tutorials for trees specifically to get it looking more realistic and it finally clicked with like 3 days to go. Shout out to Samuel Earp Art on youtube, they're the only person I found who explained it in a way I got, wish I'd found the channel sooner. This video in particular helped, it's about painting gum trees specifically.
After that it was mostly small finishing details like the vignette over the cave parts, the pollen glow, adding in the flowers/leaf litter, and a thin warm layer over the whole thing to round it out. It's wild seeing where it started compared to the finished piece, I wish tumblr didn't crunch the images so bad because the level of detail being lost is astounding. It's one of my favourite things I've ever painted, and I'm so happy that it had the impact I was aiming for on people and it got selected.
(Art program was Rebelle 7 pro as well if anyone was curious, idk if other ones do impasto depth or pigment mixing but that's how I'm getting those effects)
My Tennocon 2026 submission piece got done on time! This took me so long, and I repainted it so many times, but I'm really happy with how it turned out

My new drifter and operator faces! Didn't have to change anything other than colours on my operator since they look exactly the same just way nicer, but my drifter. My god my drifter.
Not gonna post pics of them, but the blend didn't work well and so the lips were way too stuck out compared to the rest of the face so it looked kind of bad. Swapping the second face so it matched my operator fixed it, I might mess with the system more later on but for now I like how they look :)
Bonus pics:
My beloved, my beautiful glass canon, the frame I learnt how to mod a full loadout well with after spending months farming her parts because she looked cool as hell in the arsenal preview, objectively (subjective) the Best frame in the entire game, golfing champion, triple red crit master, my main and the next prime frame, Gyre.
