Datamined information reveals Yuri as another bi option for Byleth, but hes androgynous. There's nothing wrong with anyone being androgynous, but when that's the only representation of gay men get, it kind of seems like they're trying to pander to a fetish for feminine men. There's nothing wrong with being gay and androgynous like I said it's just that with the tiny amount of gay men in the game, I'd expected it to at least be diverse in its representation. Fire emblem is pretty bad imo at representing gay men and I'm very disappointed that there is no more masculine choice for the player.

Alright I've been away for a while but I'm back, also Promare!

Wow there’s a lot I have to say. Number one: Dionysus is THICC. I picked up Hades today and it is so fucking fun. I love the gameplay and I’m happy I got the game now because I was able to gift Pyre to a friend of mine (and while some people may say its a cheap tactic to get people to play Supergiant’s less successful game, Pyre is a masterpiece and anyone should feel honored to play it, I DIGRESS). Hades is great and I’m loving the storyline and the slow drip, a good slow burn story and cutting it with fast paced gameplay is great. For me, the game is pretty hard but I’m used to strategy games and JRPGs so this is basically a new genre to me. The game is great, the references to mythology are awesome and the varied skin colors are accurate and appreciated! I have one bone to pick is SG and I’m hoping (as I’m not too far in) that they at least MENTION that Achilles is gay, considering that Achillean literally means homoerotic, and they included Orpheus who was a raging bisexual. IN ADDITION there’s Artemis who was deadass a lesbian deity (sort of, she was chaste but didn’t mind bathing with the nymphs *wink wink*) In the past there has been (I don’t think) any LGBT representation in Supergiant games other than the choice to have gender neutral pronouns for the Reader in Pyre. Not to mention I wasn’t too happy with the tidbit they put in with Vagabond Girls in Pyre if you decided to name her Gae (they said she was probably bullied which 1 why make that a name option and 2 why imply she was bullied and that homosexuality is looked down on without giving us a relatable gay character?). I’m hoping this is different, but I have a feeling that, once again, they’re going to cheap out on gay representation even though it is canon in ancient mythology that the gods were raging homos.

SPOILERS FOR SHADOW TACTICS BLADE OF THE SHOGUN

I LOVED this game. It’s the first stealth game I’ve ever played and I suspect no other will live up to it. There we some targeting issues with the cursor that made the journey frustrating at times, but overall game play was smooth and made sense, lots of creative mechanics like night levels and footprints in snow. As for story and characters this game tackled a lot of different things. Because it’s historical fiction, there’s the sexism which is NOT something that occurs with playable characters, only the antagonists are sexist (which, while unrealistic, is appreciated). There really isn’t any sexualization of the female characters, Yuki is a minor and the only “oversexual” thing about Aiko is her get up which I have attached (but it makes sense because she’s the disguise master so she’d want to get out of her get up quick). In addition, Takuma has a prosthetic leg and is in no way a liability, the only weakness of him comes from his advanced age and either way he is badass. For me, Mugen and Hayato were pretty stereotypical so they fell flat in the writing department for me. Aiko was easily my favorite character, she’s a strong woman and I think the only time she’s a damsel is when everyone gets captured so I’m not upset about it. That being said the ending was essentially “they all vanished because ninjas” which left a lot of B plots unexplored like Aiko carrying Mugen’s child, Yuki being Takuma’s apprentice, and Hayato slowly warming up to the group (which is totally undermined by him at the end saying he wants to work alone again). While the voice actors did a great job, it was jarring that some spoke like Japanese people with English as their second language and others had an English accent. I’d assume they had trouble finding voice actors who sounded Japanese without making it racist, so I’ll take what we got but I wish all the voice actors were native Japanese speakers (I know that’s a bit unrealistic). This game is pretty great all things considered and I pray they consider making a sequel. I SO wish they would make some sort of stage builder so there was more than just the campaign and challenges within the campaign levels, but I’d totally recommend you play this game as the story was great overall (if you read this little review then you're a bit spoiled but there’s plenty I didn’t mention).

Just finished this masterpiece (I’m aware I’m a few years late) and it was amazing. I wish I played it on switch as opposed to PC because I can definitely tell this would have played way better on console. Either way Red is my new waifu and I can’t wait to pick up Hades.
