Its actually the most important holiday in my culture
We traditionally light a forest on fire
Okay, no one is allowed to use that word again.
I would watch 15 seasons of Robin and Steve working at different random jobs. It's so delightful seeing them go from Scoops to the video store to the radio station. What's next? Maybe they go to a temp agency and get sent to a different random job every few months. Who cares about the supernatural drama, let me have Steve and Robin in a workplace comedy.
What accepting yourself for being gay does to a mf
“I was looking for answers in somebody else..”
“but I had all the answers.”
“I just needed to stop being so goddamn scared.”
“Scared of who I really was.”
I will never really get how a series about nerds and freaks attracted so much public that literally would hate all of these characters in real life.
Like, how are you gonna watch the show and then get weirded out by cosplayers or any nerdy things the fandom does. Like bro your favs are literally designing their next D&D adventure and making costumes for themselves as we speak.
How are you gonna watch the series, say it's one of your favorites, but then turn around and stand against everything the series stands for...
somehow haven't seen anyone point this one out yet??
STRANGER THINGS 5
How did you know that Vickie wanted to...?
buck is going to go over to eddie’s house next episode and discover that eddie’s been sleeping on the couch which is surrounded by a ring of salt on the floor. and buck is gonna be like “wow love what you’ve done with the place” and eddie’s gonna say “shut up. my house has demons” and buck’s gonna say “ah that’s rough. mine has ghosts” and they’ll cheers to that. meanwhile the demons and ghosts are just gay thoughts
can we talk about how harry’s acting rashly and impulsively and buck recognizes that behavior from when he was younger and now that he’s grown so much and is able to keep calm he knows exactly what to do????? bobby raised him right, he was always going to become the man he is now <3
“chick like me” is such an interesting episode not just in relation to feminism, but to queerness. shawn likes dressing up and presenting in a feminine way, and has thought about being a girl before.
for cory, meanwhile, this is the first time he’s really allowed to express attraction to shawn (and the guy he’s on a date with), and unlike him, cory’s look is more camp or even in the beginning stages of drag, the way i see it. the fact that this episode confirms that cory finds shawn more attractive than topanga is insane, actually.
final thoughts: shawn/veronica is genderqueer/fluid/nonconforming and bisexual, cory is gay and likes drag.
Can we stop using "still lives with their parents" or "unemployed" or "doesn't have a drivers license" or "didn't graduate high school" as an insult or evidence that someone is a bad person? Struggling with independence or meeting milestones is not a moral failing.
whenever people complain about how the romance in extraordinary attorney woo is forced/unrealistic and that jun-ho is too bland or nice i get sooo mad like !!! allistics have had millions of straight relationships in media where they’re foolishly in love with each other why don’t autistic people deserve that. absolutely unconditional adoration with no reason that moves way too fast . NEVER talk bad about jun-ho i don’t care if he’s bland we deserve him
By the way, you can improve your executive function. You can literally build it like a muscle.
Yes, even if you're neurodivergent. I don't have ADHD, but it is allegedly a thing with ADHD as well. And I am autistic, and after a bunch of nerve damage (severe enough that I was basically housebound for 6 months), I had to completely rebuild my ability to get my brain to Do Things from what felt like nearly scratch.
This is specifically from ADDitude magazine, so written specifically for ADHD (and while focused in large part on kids, also definitely includes adults and adult activities):
Executive functioning skills range from working memory to cognitive flexibility to inhibitory control, and beyond. They power our daily func
Here's a link on this for autism (though as an editor wow did that title need an editor lol):
Practical Strategies for Enhancing Executive Functioning Difficulties in Adults With Autism - Living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as
Resources on this aren't great because they're mainly aimed at neurotypical therapists or parents of neurdivergent children. There's worksheets you can do that help a lot too or thought work you can do to sort of build the neuro-infrastructure for tasks.
But a lot of the stuff is just like. fun. Pulling from both the first article and my own experience:
Play games or video games where you have to make a lot of decisions. Literally go make a ton of picrews or do online dress-up dolls if you like. It helped me.
Art, especially forms of art that require patience, planning ahead, or in contrast improvisation
Listening to longform storytelling without visuals, e.g. just listening regularly to audiobooks or narrative podcasts, etc.
Meditation
Martial arts
Sports in general
Board games like chess or Catan (I actually found a big list of what board games are good for building what executive functioning skills here)
Woodworking
Cooking
If you're bad at time management play games or video games with a bunch of timers
Things can be easier. You might always have a disability around this (I certainly always will), but it can be easier. You do not have to be this stuck forever.
It feels so weird that as a bisexual woman I experienced prejudice twice from inside the LGBT+ community.
The first time was bc I thought i was asexual bc i felt the same way towards men AND woman and it couldn't possibly be sexual attraction (talk about internalized homophobia). So many people told me to kms for "pretending to be queer". Many more told me they could "fix" my sexual orientation with sex.
The second time was when i realized i was bisexual and people in the community (mostly lesbians, unfortunately) invalidated my sexuality and i suddenly became a "sexual deviant", a "farce that pretended to be bisexual for male sexual gratification" and a "cheater". Again I was told to kms. Again people said they could "fix" me with sex.
So, in one expierence I was not sexual enough, the other i was overly sexual.
In one I could never be with someone, the other I could never be with "just one" person.
Did my behavior change? No.
Did my morals change? No.
Did i suddenly go from not fucking to having sex with each and every person i could find? No.
I just had a better understanding of my own sexual orientation and opted for a label that best reflected that understanding.
And yet, people still dont understand why so many bisexuals are ace inclusionists...
Reblogging my own post bc it is pride month and prejudice inside and outside the community is very common and SHOULD BE ADRESSED
