Kaiba gave a little huff of a derisive laugh at the first part of what Zigfried said, arms coming up to casually fold over his chest as he regarded the other. He wanted to give a rapid retort as per usual, but the pompous windbag didn’t know when to shut his trap it seemed. What little amusement he felt at that first statement, by the time Zigfried’s lips shut and stayed that way, the brunet’s gaze was narrowed. He couldn’t tell if that last statement had just been fact, or another subtle implication that he was a lazy CEO.

“First off, I believe everyone who knows me, knows who I really am. I may omit facts when I feel the need to, but I never have and never will pretend to be something I’m not.” Exactly who Zigfried thought he was and how he acted around others, Kaiba didn’t know and didn’t really care.

“I’ve been expanding plenty, just haven’t reached your country yet. My business in America is turning out quite lucrative though,” Kaiba added with a little smirk. He didn’t think Zigfried had a company in America yet.

A chuckle came from him, almost to ridicule the other for what he just said, as if he knew that facts told so otherwise and the other was lying greatly. Of course, he himself already believed that the other was lying -- he had seen that Kaiba wasn’t always the fair business man who people made him out to be. If only the others would see that as well, he himself would finally get some recognition.

“Do they now? I do not think so, I feel like you’re much more of a liar than you’re showing the others. Besides that, you’re also much more arrogant than they see... but oh well, everything will come with time.”

Raising an eyebrow at first, a smirk quickly followed as the other spoke of his own business which was expanding as well. Of course, it was something he already knew, but he wondered whether the other also knew of his own business expanding, and having made more deals with outsiders.

“So you have, but... have you also seen how I have been expending my business? Perhaps not... is it not weird that I am here while actually being German?”

He didn’t even realize this pink haired mop top could piss him off so bad. Well, he did, but more so than the regular occurrence that happened at the tournament.

Then again, he had moments back then where he was scared of Kaiba himself. Though it was sort of a dig at him..

“No, not just that. It was cowardly, what you did. You also almost got Yugi in a lot of trouble too and used your own brother to do it. So, who’s the lowlife now?”

“I’m more or less insulting you for wearing them, but it ist alright if you didn’t understand that right away...”

Though as he spoke of Kaiba, he frowned, a glare being shot at the other for the simple mention of his rival. There was no way that he was ‘scared’ of Kaiba -- at least, he wouldn’t call it being scared. Even intimidated would be too big of a word for it. He loathed the guy, couldn’t stand him, hated every single fiber of him... but never did he fear him. And why would he? He knew that in the end he would be the one to rise, and Kaiba would have to kiss his feet.

“Scared? Of Herr Kaiba? You’re mistaken... do you really think I would have done what I did if I was scared of him? No... I wanted to squash him beneath my shoes, and I knew I could do it if your little friend had not interfered. My brother only tried to help me, and I accepted his help, as there was nothing he would have rather done at that moment. I do not call that being a lowlife, neither do I call it cowardly -- it’s business and revenge.”

“You wanna say that again??” He remember how much of an asshole Zigfried was during their duel, even going as far as to get angry at him when he dared to harm him precious life points. Telling him not to ‘touch what he wasn’t allowed’. He wasn’t much different right now, either.

“Intimidate? Please, you..didn’t have me intimidated back then–” Okay, that was a lie. He really was considering what happened.

“..and you won’t now. You’re just usin’ that as an excuse. You the one that’s scared now, huh?”

“Oh come now, we both know you were shaking in your damaged and run down sneakers. If you don’t call that intimidated, then what do you call it?”

He enjoyed it, rubbing it in that is, along with bragging. But no, he wasn’t scared at all. Even if the other would attack, he wouldn’t fear him. He knew that talking the other down like this could hurt and damage the other’s confidence much more than a physical attack, and with that, safe himself from a punch as well.

“Me, scared? Of you? Nein, gar nicht! I hold no fear, not for anyone or anything, and especially not for you. I would believe that a small house spider ist more threatening than you.”

He hadn’t really paid attention to its name, only to the fact it should be close by. Besides, he didn’t originally come from around here, so there was no need to memorize the name of it -- he would visit it once and never come back again. He was glad, though, that the other knew of it, and probably also knew where exactly it was. It would make visiting it a lot easier.

Kaiba turned around at the gratingly familiar voice. Though he was surprised to see the likes of Schroder there at the national business meeting, he was careful not to let the emotion peek through his stoic facade. Really, if he thought about it, the prospect of this happening really should not have been surprising. Every wise CEO would take any opportunity to spread their business wherever and whenever possible.

The brunet chose to ignore Zigfried’s earlier little taunt. They both knew he’d be here. To not show up at the most important business party of the entire year would be negligent and foolish. Whether he actually wanted to attend or not.

“Never quite long enough,” Kaiba retorted icily, unfriendly as ever.

“As unfriendly as ever, I see...”

Not that he blamed him for it, or would treat him differently in return. He knew himself that the bond between them hadn’t changed at all since the last time they met, the rivalry still ongoing. And it’s not like he wanted it to change, as he still despised the other as much as he could. Perhaps the rivalry between the companies had gotten less stressful the moment they had gotten a deal with Pegasus themselves as well, but that didn’t mean that Kaiba wasn’t still a thorn in his side, one that he would never be able to remove, it seemed.

“I guess you will never change. Not that there ist any need to, however, I do believe others should see you for who you truly are some day. Aber, do not worry, I’m not here to plan anything against you for once, I’ve got far more important things to do, like expanding my business more than I already have.”
