Fake Adoption Au

this is an uncharted AU in which sully accidentally "adopts" the drake brothers before they were old enough to run away from the st francis orphanage by themselves

story overview under the cut!

• by the beginning of this nathan is 8, sam is 13 and sully is 33; there will be timeskips though

• sully is hired to steal something stored in an old church in boston; turns out it was recently moved and was now (coincidentally) stored underneath the orphanage's chapel.

• with the pretext of being someone looking to adopt, he goes to the orphanage to scope it out and find a way to steal the object, unnoticed

• in the first visit, sully ends up meeting the drakes (who were the morgans at the time lol); they use him as pickpocket practice (sam distracts the old man, nate tries to actually steal his wallet)

• finding them promising, sully manages to strike a deal with them; they would scout the place and relay their findings to him. in turn , he would help them run away by "adopting" them (anyway, he would end up just letting they go free to wherever they wanted)

• they end up managing to come up with a solid plan, but when they effectively try to steal the thing, they get found out; though, sully does manage to run away with the object

• he sneaks back a few days later and finds out that that the kids were going separated and placed in different orphanages thanks to the stunt they pulled

• feeling responsible for that, sully helps to sneak them out — not only from the orphanage, but to get out of the state entirely

• they accept and that's how he gets two whole goddamn kids!! congratulations ur a dad now!!!

• that dinamic change will have a big impact in basically every major event ie. getting their mom's journals, stealing drake's ring and most importantly, getting the first saint dismas cross in panama; a less reckless nate and a sam that's more agreeable would never make such a shitty deal with rafe, ending up with a way less 'deadly' theft

• sam not "dying" in prison has a major impact on most of the canon games storylines, mainly in uc4, for obvious reasons

• all in all, everything is a little less messed up and we have a fun found family narrative added in for extra flavor, everyone likes those, right?
