Day 27 – Workflow Review

Today I reviewed the entire production pipeline to evaluate my workflow and identify improvements. I looked back at each stage to understand what went well and what could have been done more efficiently. This reflection helped me recognize the importance of planning and consistency throughout the project. It also gave me better insight into optimizing future asset creation workflows.

Day 26 – Final Presentation Preparation

I began preparing the final presentation of the entire project. I organized all stages of development, including blockout, high poly modelling, low poly optimization, UV mapping, texturing, and final rendering. I structured everything in a logical flow to clearly show the progression of the asset from start to finish. This helped highlight both the technical workflow and creative decision-making behind the project.

Day 25 – Final Rendering

I rendered the final images of the weapon inside Unreal Engine. I captured multiple high-quality shots from different angles to fully showcase the model. I also adjusted post-processing settings such as exposure, contrast, and sharpness to enhance the final look. This step brought together all previous work, resulting in a clean and polished final presentation of the asset.

Day 24 – Camera and Composition

Today I set up multiple camera angles to capture the weapon from different perspectives. I adjusted focal length, framing, and positioning to create visually strong compositions. I focused on making sure the weapon remains the main focal point in each shot while still showing important design details. I also tested close-up and wide shots to balance both overall silhouette and surface detail presentation.

Day 23 – Lighting Setup

I started working on the lighting setup inside Unreal Engine to properly showcase the weapon. I experimented with different light sources and placements to highlight the shape and material details. I used a combination of key light, fill light, and rim light to create depth and separation from the background. Adjusting lighting was very important because it directly affects how the textures and model are perceived in the final presentation.

Day 22 – Material Setup in Unreal Engine

Today I focused on building and refining the materials inside Unreal Engine. I connected all texture maps to the material shader and adjusted parameters like roughness intensity, metallic values, and normal strength. These adjustments helped improve how the surface reacts under lighting. I also made small corrections to ensure the materials match the stylized Valorant-inspired look. This step helped bring more realism and polish to the final asset.

Day 21 – Unreal Engine Import

I imported the model along with all the texture maps into Unreal Engine and began setting up the asset inside the scene. I assigned the correct materials and linked each texture channel properly to ensure accurate rendering. I also checked for common issues like flipped normals, incorrect scaling, or missing textures. This stage helped me transition from asset creation in external software to real-time implementation inside a game engine environment.

Day 20 – Texture Export

Today I completed the final stage in Substance Painter by exporting all the texture maps required for Unreal Engine. I carefully exported Base Color, Normal, Roughness, and Metallic maps while making sure the resolution and file formats were correct for real-time use. I also double-checked the naming conventions and folder structure so everything stays organised for the next stage. This step is important because any mistake in export settings can affect the final quality in the engine, so I made sure everything was clean and consistent before moving forward.

Day 19 – Material Refinement

I refined the textures by adjusting color balance, metallic response, and roughness values across the model. I tested the asset under different lighting setups inside Substance Painter to see how it reacts in various conditions. Small changes were made to improve contrast and readability, ensuring that important design elements stand out clearly. This stage helped unify all materials into a consistent visual style.

Day 18 – Texture Detailing

Today I began adding surface details such as subtle scratches, edge wear, and roughness variation. I carefully controlled the level of damage to avoid making the weapon look too realistic or overused. I also introduced slight imperfections to break the flatness of the materials, which helps improve visual interest. These details were layered gradually to maintain control over the final appearance.

Day 17 – Base Materials Creation

I started applying base materials to define the main visual structure of the weapon. I focused on separating different material zones such as metal body parts, accent sections, and supporting elements. At this stage, I used simple fill layers to block out colors without worrying about fine details. This helped me establish a strong foundation for the overall look and ensured that the design direction matched the Valorant-inspired style.

Day 16 – Substance Painter Setup

Today I imported my low poly model into Substance Painter to begin the texturing stage. I created a new project using the correct template and ensured all mesh maps such as normal, ambient occlusion, curvature, and position were properly baked. These maps are important because they help generate realistic surface details and allow smarter texturing workflows. I also checked the model orientation, scale, and UV consistency before starting, making sure everything was clean and ready for production.

Day 15 – UV Completion

I completed the UV layout and made final adjustments to ensure everything is properly arranged. I checked each UV island for stretching, overlap, and consistency in scale. I also organized the UV space to make texturing easier and more efficient. At this point, the model is fully prepared for the texturing stage, which feels like a major milestone in the project pipeline.

Day 14 – UV Mapping

Today I started UV unwrapping the model. I placed seams in hidden or less visible areas to make the texturing process cleaner. After that, I unfolded the model into UV space and organized the islands properly. I made sure the UVs were evenly scaled and not stretched. Clean UV mapping is very important because it directly affects the quality of textures later.

Day 13 – Optimization

I continued improving the low poly model by cleaning up topology and ensuring proper edge flow. I removed unnecessary geometry that does not contribute to the final shape. I also checked for any overlapping faces or issues that could cause problems in real-time engines. This stage helped make the model more performance-friendly and production-ready.

Day 12 – Low Poly Start

Today I began creating the low poly version of the model. The main focus was to reduce polygon count while still preserving the overall shape and silhouette of the weapon. I carefully rebuilt parts of the model using optimized geometry instead of high poly details. This step is important because game-ready assets need to be efficient without losing visual quality.

Day 11 – Style Adjustment

After reviewing the model, I noticed that some areas were becoming too complex and starting to lose the stylized Valorant-like aesthetic. To fix this, I simplified certain sections and removed unnecessary details. I also adjusted shapes to make them more readable and bold. This step helped bring the model back to a clean and consistent design direction.
