I know this picture is tiny, but look at these gorgeous girls.

The Carib Indians, or Kalinagos, are Amerindian settlers that came to the Caribbean many years ago from Central and South America. There were also the Taino and Arawaks. Now, given that my history is a little rusty, I’m not sure what happened to the Taino, but the peaceful Arawaks were killed, and the Kalinago fought like the warriors that they are.

On my island, they live on the North-East side and continue with all the traditional practices and continue to pass them down. The last person who could speak the Kalinago language died in the 1920’s or some time close to that. They only know a few words from their language. Majority of what they speak is Dominican Patois which was the language of the African slaves and English.

I am 1/8 Kalinago, (among other things). That makes me happy.
